The Tokugawa government had continued about 300 years. For the people in Japan, it looks almost eternal structure.
But, the Blackship, Mr. Perry came to Uraga to request Japanese government open the country. Then, everything in Japan was inspired by foreign powers and cultures.
Bakumatsu was the second popular era for Japanese history like people.

Games are listed in chronological order roughly.

One of the most popular topic in Bakumatsu era.
Though they belonged to the defeated Edo-bakuhu, they are very popular among Japanese people.

On June 8th, 1864, in Kyoto, there was a very famous sword-action between Shinsengumi and Kinnoh-rohshi. Yes, it was Ikedaya.

This is a small postcard game. It was distributed on A-game shop's yearend-yearopening campaign between 2009 and 2010.

Though this is a small game, it is filled with puzzle-like tactics and excitement of swordplay.

Issue game of Wargame Japanese History #8.

Covering the whole bakumatsu era from Blackship to Boshin-sensou.
I think this game is the most suitable game for viewing the whole image of this era.
But, the game system is very unfamiliar for wargamers.

Issue game of Wargame Japanese History # 16.
Covering Aizu campaign of Boshin-sensou in Japan.

Since we have a popular TV series “Yae’s cherry” in Japan, Aizu campaign becomes much familiar than before.
This game uses card-driven mechanics and includes many events relating this topic.

The best Hakodate game ever made.

IMHO, this one is the only exciting Hakodate game.
A twisted card-driven mechanics.
Covering mainly land battle, but including naval battle by event card.

This is a what-if bakumatsu boardgame from Adtechnos.

Since the historical Hakodate battle is very lopsided, Adtechnos decided to use what-if scenario to represent Hakodate battle.

For example, Hokkaido Republic army contains Kawai Tsugunosuke who died before this battle. On the other hand, Meiji government army contains the most popular army leader Saigou Takamori who didn't participated this battle since he thought the war against Edo government was already over.
