Which game? And why did you let it go?

Do you wish you had it back?

I was going to say Dune, as I just traded that away recently and it's still fresh in my mind. But I'd say ASL is a better game (though it's like comparing apples and oranges)--bigger and more impressive, anyhow.

Actually, I sold ASL and several modules, along with Squad Leader and all its expansions (plus a closet full of other wargames), at the same time, in 1999.

Why? Well, basically I'd just had my fill of them and knew I'd never play these games again. I'd been obsessed with wargames since 1968, but now I had reached a point in life where I simply didn't have the time or patience for a game that big, long, or complicated.

Would I want ASL back? Nah. I can't imagine constantly looking stuff up in that big rulebook or working out the intricacies of defensive fire.

I do miss the excitement that this kind of game generates, though. So, I've recently bought several titles in the Lock 'n Load family. That's about the limit of my complexity tolerance anymore.

Oh, btw, I traded Dune away because it requires more players than I expect to ever get together for a game.

I traded it for my copy of Space Alert when it was still rare. I really don't regret trading it at all, but I do miss the mechanic and hope to see it executed better in another game (besides Magic).

I sold this on eBay. This and all the expansions... Dungeon, City, Timescape, even Dragons. Sold it for a pretty penny before 4th was even announced.

We had many fun years playing this in college and soon after graduating. But we moved on. I do not regret the sale.

I bought a copy of Puerto Rico several years ago. My gaming group tried it out a few times, but it never did catch on (and my wife absolutely hated it). So after I found BGG I learned how to find gamers and I found someone nearby who wanted it. It was

I contacted her about a trade, and she accepted (Puerto Rico & expansion for Citadels and Double Or Nothing). We met a couple weeks later, started playing games together, and now have a friendship.

I don't miss Puerto Rico. And since she lets my family and I borrow her games, if I did I could borrow it for a while.

What I thought of when I saw the list title; several people have already mentioned it, but I'll add it as an item.

I sold it on eBay about five years ago (and only got about $40). My group was getting into euros, I wanted to clear some space and get some cash. I didn't think we'd play a game like this anymore. I regret it; it is the sort of game that we might play now.

I've sold and traded quite a few games, though, and this is pretty much my only regret, but a fairly minor one. If I really cared, I could always buy one, and then I'd probably never get my group to play it. (Or they would play and I'd freak out when their Cheeto-drenched hands touched my precious game.)

I've traded away this and the OCS Korea game. I did it mainly to get other games that I wanted, but didn't want to shell out big bucks for and to get games I might actually play. I also wanted to share the love for these games and hopefully trade them to someone who wanted to play them. But mostly, I just wasn't into these games as I prefer the big Eastern Front and North Africa OCS games.

One of the best abstract games I have played.

On BGG:

91 owning
53 wanting
1 trading

I was lucky to get Santorini in a trade,
and then even luckier to give it away to my daughter.

I've made any number of 'valuable' trades (and gotten some of them back later), but Plague & Pestilence is an odd beast. I've had it twice, traded/sold it twice. I love the macabre theme and the notoriety/collectibility associated with the game. That said, it's hopped up filler. Actually I always thought of it as Nuclear War without having to marry payload and booster together to wreak havoc. e.g. it's not a bad game, but not a great one, and there's plenty that I would rather PLAY. Each time, I've regretted it a bit, and if I can snag a copy for under $50 I will (and yes, that is what I paid for one copy and much more than the other (a throw in in a bulk lot that crept under the radar on ebay). But meanwhile, life goes on.
