While all wargames inherently depict conflict of a most unpleasant sort, there are a few that encourage (or even require) players to conduct behavior that would violate the Geneva Conventions, criminal law, the law of war or common decency. Of course that's not restricted to just wargames, as posts on Puerto Rico and various gangster games show. For that matter, it's not confined just to boardgames, as the continuing controversy over Grand Theft Auto and its ilk prove. This list is a companion to my other list, Wargames for the Morally Superior.

In some showdowns the players are expected to rob and/or murder their opponents in order to win. In another showdown one side is a war party of Indians bent on massacrering a family of farmers.

The entire theme revolves around incinerating millions of people, so this game is certainly not for the overly sensitive.

In this game the Russian bombers are trying to destroy U.S. cities, which may be disconcerting to those who live in or have families in said places.

In many situations it's expedient to murder a royal heir, and in some cases it's required, because a player can't have a Lancasterian or Yorkist heir at the same time.

Besides Kamikazes (which show up in most games on the Pacific War) the Japanese player can order "mass suicides" of the civilian population to deny the U.S. player victory points for occupying cities.

This one has several potentially disturbing aspects. The Germans can "Nazify" and NATO "Denazify" cities (we can assume this is not a gentle process). Both sides have nuclear weapons and can use them. And the German player gets points for erecting various Nazi monuments. Ew.

Here's an innocuous-appearing little game (although not a true wargame, it perhaps should be considered equivalent to one) in which the object is to create animals and plants that will cause other animals and plants to become extinct. Is that sick, or what?

{Actually, it's a fun game, but the objective is a bit harsh in real-life terms.}

From the summary here at BGG:

"The object of the game is to arrange the assassination of all opposing players and thereby take control of world traffic in illegally obtained commodities (drugs, plutonium, munitions, oil, secrets, diamonds and gold)."

This is not something we want the schools to teach our children.

The game is fun in a morbid kind of way the first time you play it. It's reminiscent of Monopoly and the contrast beween the two is entertaining. After the first game, however, the design flaws become apparent. -Who wants to be knocked out of a game that can stretch on for hours?

Bribery, deception, corruption, graft, embezzlement, theft assassinations, executions, riots, the gratuitous murdering of insurgent civillians... I can't see why my mother would have ever objected to me playing this game as a kid.

Though not technically a wargame, the coup phases play like a small wargame.

IIRC: after you had cleared an opponents fleet off a planet, you could just sit back in orbit and burn off his colonists a million at a time.
