At the IBC I gave our friend Steph a bit of money to get some of her Alea Treasure Chest. PR was one of the expansions we got. It got played as the first game of the day and again as the last game of the day. Both times the Villa was used to get a crazy amount of nobles and the victory. In the 2nd game the buildings were mixed together from all three expansions. In the first game of the day we mixed the expansion 1 buildings together and added the expansion 2 buildings above the board. Krista mentioned that she felt that the way we were playing the villa (every mayor phase you get a noble + plus your normal colonist) seems broken. The villa did when twice, so that will remain to be seen.

Game 2

Dominion was played 3 times throughout the day. In the game I played in Krista went with a village + laboratory strategy, while I just bought a single chapel and a bunch of gold. Thanks to a 2nd to last turn duchy purchase I took the victory by 1 point.

Phillip is just getting into the hobby, so Mike and Todd taught him Settlers, which I know is one of Mike’s favorite games. I understand Todd whined about his dice rolls and thus won the game.

Ross said that in the second epoch Kevin only bought a single tile, which means he had 3 sun tiles that he absolutely nothing with. This could be why he lost.

This was the big game of the day. I joined our Ameritrash gamers: Brian, Brent, and Jonathon for some monster whooping good time. Jonathan and I had played a couple days before, so the game moved pretty quickly. We played on the advance side of the board, but emptied 3 small crypts to quicken the game up. We then randomly pulled a Overlord, but didn’t understand how his text worked, so pulled another and got Supremus who can be called to a crypt of 3 or more to participate in battles.

Brian had a pariah to start with and wanted to try killing him off, so went in the tomb early with just him and a rogue. He kept getting some easy monsters and mostly treasure though and took a long time to kill himself off, until he met up with Supremus ate him for lunch! Both Jonathan and I stayed back in the Inn and built our parties up about as big as they could get before going out, at first this looked like a bad move for us, because Brian was grabbing a ton of stuff, but in the end it did work out for me. Brent seemed to be Cryptmaster a lot, which is how he got most of his cards, even recruiting Shadow Wolf into his party.

The last turns went down with Jonathon going into a crypt with 2 monsters and me being Cryptmaster. I called Supremus over, who whooped on up Jonathan killing 2 of his characters and leaving him so decimated he had to flee. But before he fled he was able to get 8 wounds on the Overlord. On my turn, despite being completely across the tomb from the crypt that Supremus was in by himself, I was able to use one of my staffs to immediately move to that crypt and raid. He wiped out my main character, costing me 9 points in treasure, but I was able to kill him with Rogar immediately after that and end the game.

Us for have tentatively planned to get this played again in April!

While Ryan and I were upstairs watching the kids we played a best of 5 of Hive. Ryan hasn’t played it as much as I have, so he made a couple mistakes that he learned from, but overall we were pretty well matched.

Adam – 3 wins
Ryan – 2 wins

I felt like I was dominating this game with a couple rounds getting 8 resources to the 4 or 5 resources that Brian and Krista were getting. I had a ton of law cards, 4 houses, and what felt like a strong hold on the game. After it was all said and done though, Krista was much closer than expected. Keythedral, because of the building the town phase, tends to be rough on new players and Brian found that out.

Brendon completely ignored rats most of the game and both him and Phillip had a couple turns where they weren’t able to hire a worker at the end. I had 2 cubes in the park from turn 3 on and the last turn or two had 4 cubes in there, which contributed to my victory.
