Hey there sports fans! Welcome back to the most exciting game about games playing games ever invented! Sixty managers battled it out in the North Star Tournament, but now they play again.... for The Shire Games Cup.

In Fantasy GeekBall BGG users have become the managers of sports teams where the players are games. At the start of the season there is an auction where the managers put their teams together. The teams of seven games are then pitched against each other in matches using polls. Whichever team win 4 or more of these polls wins the match.

Each match has its own geeklist entry so that the managers can taunt each other and extole the virtues of their team. In-game trash-talking is encouraged!

How to Vote
In each match simply select the game you prefer from the 2 options on each row. Feel free to pass. In some cases you may want to vote for the team you prefer. The managers will also attempt to persuade you to vote for them.

You can read more about the teams and the auction -> here
Or keep up with Fantasy GeekBall News on our sports channel ESBGGN
And the Trash-Talking thread has some analysis of the previous rounds.
Also useful is the Fantasy Geekball Season 2 Information Center

Teams are playing for glory, vouchers (provided by generous sponsors Shire Games) and geekgold.

There is a Fantasy Geekball Notification thread here that you should Subscribe to if you don't want to miss a round.

Here is the structure of The Cup. Sixty teams are participating.

The teams who have made it to this fourth round are the winners from Round three. All the teams involved now have beaten at least three other teams to get here. There are no easy matches from this point.

The Cup works in a different way to The Tournament. It is roughly modelled on Britain's FA Cup. There is no seeding in The Cup, instead each round's team match-ups are decided by a random draw. And the team structure is different as well - in The Tournament the players (games) in the team were ordered by the amount they had cost in the auction. In The Cup they are in the order that the manager has chosen.
The game chosen for each geeklist entry is the captain of the 'away' team.
The polls are open until midnight on Friday night, BGG time.

Fantasy GeekBall competition structure:

Prize pool

131 has been donated to the prize pool. 85 of this was awarded in The Tournament along with free games from North Star Games.

Prize structure:

Shire Games Cup Winner: 15 and a £25 voucher for Shire Games (or a $25 voucher for another non-UK retailer)
Runner-up: 10 and a £15 voucher for Shire Games (or a $15 voucher for another non-UK retailer)
3rd: 10
4th: 5

10 Best Addition to GeekBall (e.g. analysis, commentary, side-games, etc)
6 Funniest Contribution (which might be a team name, theme, comment, logo, or anything else)!
5 Best PR by a Team Manager
5 Worst Performing Team

Last round the Disasterous Adventurers pulled off a shock win against #1 seeds The Spiele Curtain, sealing their status as stalking horses for The Cup and making a mockery of their #30 seeding.

Small World's team destroyed #4 seed The Friends 5-2 last round and is more than standing up to his #6 seeding. Both these teams were knocked out of The Tournament by Epic Win.

Its going to be a tough one.

GG Vacuum made the most of their wild card entry to the 3rd round, and just about saw off Brain Burners after a see-saw match. They are now looking a lot more like their #9 seeding, putting their terrible performance in The Tournament (a round 1 exit!) behind them.

The Inuits knocked out Fashion Nugget last round, but GG Vacuum look a lot more of a challenge. Inuits will need to raise their game from their #19 seeding....

Verdict: GG Vacuum favourites in an unpredictable contest.

Both these teams made it through to the Sweet 16 in The Tournament but then got knocked out. This time one of them is sure to get into the Elite Eight.

Seeding-wise Ponies #10 ranking marks them out as seriously superior to the #50 ranking of Space Shenanigans. But take no notice of that - the Spacers have knocked out three higher seeded teams so far in GeekBall, culminating with a close victory over #8 seed Pawn Stars in the last round of The Cup.

In contrast Ponies have had an easier ride, galloping past a number of lower seeded teams. The Spacers could prove a tougher hurdle for them to jump.

The biggest match-up of the round! This draw made all the other managers breath a sigh of relief. Two more prize-winners from The Tournament go head-to-head.

Trashy Americans came 4th in The Tournament (via a complicated route), but last round they destroyed the Tournament runner-up Arrow's Bullseyes 6-1. With form like that they should have no fear of the Tournament Champion....

Epic Win had a scare last round before rallying to eventually coast to an easy 5-2 win over Team Emanon. Does this match-up mean an untimely exit for Epic? Or will Epic's Ameritrash games take away Trashy's fan base advantage?

Whatever the result here, the semi finals of The Cup sure won't be a repeat of The Tournament because two of those four teams will be out. But the winner here could go all the way.

#45 seed Glorious Bastards made it to the Sweet Sixteen of The Tournament before Trashy Americans knocked them out. They only just made this round, beating Vascos by only 2 votes.

They face GeekBall hard-nuts FUBAR! who over-achieved their #33 seeding to come 3rd in The Tournament, and showed their quality in last round's 4-3 defeat of Out of Print Masters.

FUBAR should win this one, but don't bet your house on it!

Both these teams needed extra time to make it through the 3rd Round, with CWPY? needing to go to penalties to beat Geekbots in the closest ever GeekBall match.

#24 seeded The Prince vs #23 seed Can We Play Yet?. It can only really be a tie, right?

Whatever happens, either of these teams will be delighted to make it to the Elite Eight after not making it this far in The Tournament.

#12 seed Bicycle Built for Two had a fairly comfortable victory in round three and makes it to the Sweet Sixteen hoping to better their exit from The Tournament at this stage.

Though seeded #41, Games on the Brain made it to the Elite Eight of the Tournament (though they needed the 2nd chance route to do it). Last round in The Cup they got revenge on T-Baggers, the team who'd knocked them out of the first round of the Tournament, stomping on them 5-2!

So this is a tough match-up for two in-form teams. If pushed I'd predict a 4-3 victory for Bicycles, but that needs Mr Jack to beat Tichu, which I think will be the key board for this match.

Last round #7 seed Unfunny Dudes made short work of their arch-nemesis (and secretly one of my favourite teams) Funny Losers 6-2. After me questioning their seeding they stood up and were counted worthy.

#18 seed Star Force made it to this stage of The Tournament before being knocked out. They'll be thinking this is their chance to improve on that as Unfunny Dudes didn't get that far. Last round Star Force brushed aside upstarts The Auctioneers 5-2.

So which wannabee will make it? Will Star Force get through with a potential home derby against Space Shenanigans in the Elite Eight? Or will Unfunny Dudes carry on goose-stepping over all opposition?

Locked at 4-4 after full time, so we have Extra Time!
