The designer Vance von Borries has finished playtesting and the game is ready to go, according to Randy Lein.

Vance recommends this book for those interested in this interesting episode of World War II.

Our Enemies the French, Syria 1941, by Anthony Mockler, 1976.

CSW discussion board:

Slouch Hats and Eggshells recreates the World War II month-long campaign in French-held Syria and Lebanon. This is the war in which Moshe Dayan lost his eye and dons the signature eyepatch for the rest of his life. Yitzhak Rabin also fought here as part of the Palmach while Roald Dahl flew Hurricanes.

Vance has also included a scenario that speculates on what the Germans might have sent had the French invited them to participate.

Vance has rules for this game to be combined with his other game being republished by L2 Design, Rommel's War.

Most units in the game represent battalions and regiments, with some companies and brigades. The map scale is at 10 miles per hex, while each turn represents 10 days.

Designer John Heim mentions some pretty interesting stuff about artillery in this game on CSW. Corregidor is famous for some of its massive artillery pieces and this must be one of the few non-tactical wargames where blast effect of artillery in measured in hex radius. Nasty!

Get two games for the price of one!

Corregidor includes two games, the Japanese invasion in 1942 and the American re-conquest in 1945.

Game scale:
Units: Infantry platoons and artillery batteries
Map: Each hex equals 250 yards
Turn: Each game turn represents 2-3 hours

"I think a good desertion system will make the difference between a good game and a great one." - Michael Erwin, Tatchanka! game designer

CSW discussion board.
http://talk.consimworld.com/WebX?13@@.1dd2e848

Michael is continuing to work on the order of battles and is hoping to add a third scenario to the game.

Earlier, Michael said he would be designing two separate games using the Tatchanka system to focus on two periods of the Russian Civil War.

One of these, currently titled, Fall of the Directory will cover the many-sided conflict running from the German surrender until [historically] after the Bolshevik capture of Kiiv.

The other, currently titled Makhno's Return will cover the Makhnovist insurgency from the battle of Perehonivka to the liberation, and then loss, of Katerynoslav [Yekaterinoslav]. In addition, the Red Army pursues the Volunteer Army onto the map. It historically recaptured Kiiv and Kharkiv in this period.

This game is the third in the "Indian Wars of the American West" series, with Battle of the Little Bighorn and The Battle of Rosebud Creek. Incidentally, LWG has plans to reprint the two earlier games in a professional edition, with telescoping box and die-cut counters.

Also known as the First Battle of Adobe Walls, it was one of the largest battles between U.S. and Great Plains Indians. Kit Carson was given command of the US forces, and his mission was to find the Comanche and Kiowa winter camps and eliminate this threat to the settlers that were moving into and through this area of the Texas panhandle.

Game scale:
Units: Each combat unit represents:
- one US Cavalry company
- approximately 100 Indians
- individual leader
Map: Each hex equals 1/4 mile across.
Turn: Each game turn represents 20 minutes.

Expands the original KPG game B-29 Superfortress, which was one of the top Cyberboard downloads from Limey Yank Games.

As the expansion, Hell over Korea covers B-29 missions in the Korean War from November 1950 through April 1951.

The time period covered was chosen because it was the most dynamic period of the war for the B-29. In November 1950 the Chinese Communists were in the war, and the B-29 began facing its first serious opposition with the introduction of large numbers of Soviet MiG-15 jet fighters, specifically designed to shoot down B-29s and the aging Superfortresses were outmatched by the jet, even with fighter escorts.

A short wargame with a very interesting premise - It's a solitaire game which puts players play the role of General Sir Redvers Buller trying to cross the Thukela River on the 15th December 1899 in order to relieve the Siege of Ladysmith. Can they avoid the historical fate of Buller who was defeated by well-entrenched Boer commandoes (played by the game system) and who was ultimately relieved of command?

Apparently, this design originated from Philip Sabin's course on conflict simulation in King's College London.

The Battle of Soissons, 18 July to 28 July, 1918, was the first time that full-size US divisions went on the offensive incorporated in the French army. But most importantly, it was the opening of the Second Battle of the Marne. It not known at the time, although suspected by many, that this battle was the death-knell of the German army.

Fire on the Mountain is a simulation of the Battle of South Mountain and concentrates on the action around Turner's Gap and Fox's Gap. It will emphasize the difficulty of mountainous terrain and the seesaw nature of a battle into which reinforcements continue to trickle and officer casualties effect combat operations. The game uses simple mechanics to simulate movement, artillery, cavalry, leaders, and difficult terrain, with a unique combat system that allows the game to move quickly while still simulating the tense nature of the battle. The game will be produced with double-wide counters (1 1/4" x 5/8") and oversized hexes to accommodate them.

Units: Brigades
Map: Each hex equals 300 yards

Made the cut.

The game covers two individual battles on the US invasion of Saipan and Tinian in the summer of 1944. Admiral Nimitz's Operation Granite II, the seizure of the Marianas islands, was divided into two parts, the Northern Troops Landing Force (NTLF) and the Southern Troops Landing Force (STLF). Saipan and Tinian were the objectives for the NTLF, with Saipan being the immediate objective and Tinian the second.

Game scale:
Unit size: Platoons to Regiments
Scale: Hex scale varies from game to game
Game Turn: Each turn represents 12 hours

The game is the first of the Pacific Island Series game system. The series will also include Guam - Vol. II , and Peleliu - Vol. III.

Steve Dixon, who designed B-29 Superfortress, has come up with another solitaire game.

This time, you're a captain of a Fletcher Class destroyer performing radar picket duty off Okinawa in 1945. The goal - survive the day as kamikazes try to sink your ship and inflict maximum damage to the U.S. fleet supporting the U.S. troops on the island.
