Welcome to the reprint list for May. Sorry for the delay, but I was able to spend a whole weekend playing wargames. I've also been contemplating some changes to the format. I'd like to hear some suggestions and comments on ways to improve this list.

As far as new orders go, this month was not very good. Several games have had no gain or losses. We still have a couple of bright spots. Here I Stand continues its climb towards a reprint.

Year of Original Printing: 2003
Status: Not there yet.
Current Orders: 156 (+1, +73 since June)
P500 Price: $130.00
Designer: Bruce Harper

Components:
2,800 full-color die-cut counters.
Four 22"x30" full-color map sheets
12 Player Aid Cards
196-page Rulebook
72-page Status Sheet booklet
24-page Research and Diplomacy booklet
24-page Scenario booklet
8 six-sided dice

A nice gain this month for this monster. This grand strategic game covers all of WW2. It combines Avalon Hill's Advanced 3rd Reich and Empire of the Rising Sun. It gives you the opportunity to explore the historical campaign and also several what if? scenarios.

This one is going to take a while, but I think it has a chance of actually getting a reprint. I might just be optimistic though. It looks interesting enough that I went ahead and ordered this one. The rules apparently get face-lift on a regular basis, with a new set due out in June Although they are supposed to be so close to the current rules that most people won't notice the changes. So if you're ordering this one, you might want to start reading now. That's a lot of paperwork for a game. I would love to see some reviews and session reports on this one. Any fans want to add some content to the geek for us?

http://www.aworldatwar.orgis the link to the games webpage containing the rules and lots of useful info

RIP Mr. Ritchie

Starting to have doubts about this one reaching 500. It's close, but it hasn't moved much at all in the past 9 months. This is a regimental/divisional scale game covering the winter war. It sounds like there will be new counters and a new map for this one. So lets hear from those who have played it. There is also a VASSAL module available. Some reviews or session reports would be nice. I'm still on the fence on this one. I've preordered Red Winter, so I'm not really sure if I need this. I also wonder if Red Winter is hurting orders on this one. It's still fairly close to a reprint and cheap, so I might jump on board eventually. How about some reviews or session reports? A gentleman posted a nice AAR over on CSW a few months ago in the games folder.

Current Orders: 218 (-2, +72 since June)
P500 Price: $38.00
Designer: Mark Simonitch

Components:
570 full-color 9/16" counters
One and a half full-color mapsheets (total size 30"x37")
40 Page Rulebook/Playbook (with examples of play and designer's notes)
2 Player Aid Cards
One Quick-start Setup Display
Two Six-sided dice

From the BGG description:

Ardennes '44 explores this fascinating campaign with a detailed order of battle and an extremely accurate Ardennes game map which covers the area from the Our River to the Meuse. Ardennes '44 covers the period from December 16th to the 26th. Two shorter one-map scenarios are included which cover the initial stages of the German attack. The Ardennes '44 game system is designed by Mark Simonitch, winner of the CSR James F. Dunnigan Award for Design Elegance and Best WWII Board Game of 2000 for Ukraine '43.

Disappointing to see such sluggish growth on this one, but at least it continues to make progress. Still a long ways to go, but we'll see it eventually. I tried going through CSW to find out any info and didn't find anything useful. I'm hoping the fixes from C3i are included. Mark said they might get printed up with Normandy 44, so now you have a reason to order it too.

One 10-sided die

4th game in the popular East Front series. Slow gain this month, but it's better than a loss. I preordered a copy because I couldn't pass it up at this price. Hopefully this one will help the rest of the series find it's way onto this list. Although it's looking like Typhoon/Army Group Center will be on the list before long. My thanks to Iain K for providing this information.

A nice boost this month for the second game in the Battles of the American Revolution series. This one is is moving very slowly. It could use a few months in a row like this, at least show some progress. This one is lacking info here on the geek. I appreciate Gittes's review and sessions, but I would like to see some other opinions. It looks like it has potential, just not sure if it's my style of game. What's the general consensus on this one? Why should I order it? What about the other games in this series? After some feedback last month, this might not be the best game for an introduction to the series. Saratoga and Guilford were recommended as a good starting point in the series.

Volume VIII in the GBOH series covers the Byzantine Empire during the reign of Emperor Justinian, under his great Generals, Belisarius and Narses. This covers all the major battles during the early years of the Eastern Roman Empire.

I'm a sucker for this series. As soon as I saw it on the list I went ahead and grabbed it. It's moving quite slowly though. Not a lot of recent info on this.

From the GMT website:
Diadochoi covers the four major battles that took place during the early Diadochoi wars at the end of the 4th Century BC as Alexander the Great's marshals jostled and fought for position and control of his vast empire. Each of the Diadochoi, the so-called "successors", sought to expand upon and improve the Macedonian system of warfare so brilliantly used by Alexander. Ultimately, all they succeeded in doing was to rigidly formalize its elements, adding only hordes of elephants, the ultimate expression of which was the massive battle of Ipsus, the largest known elephant battle in history.

An expansion to Great Battles of Alexander. If i could ever find a copy at a decent price, then I'd pick up this expansion too. I think if Alexander was in print, I'd say this would be getting more orders. Lo and behold, there's talk of putting together an Alexander reprint to include several modules. This is great news for people like me.

Broke the 100 news orders mark!

A naval game containing 17 scenarios ranging from the Seven Years War through the Battle of Trafalgar. This is also one of those elusive multiplayer wargames allowing 1-4 players to enjoy. This normally isn't my kind of game, but I'm getting more excited about it the more i read about it. I finally placed my preorder. It's had steady growth since it was added to the list. I see this one making the cut for sure.

Need a reason to get excited about this one? Go check out it's CSW page for lots of great info and dicussion.

Amazing month for Ed Beach's 6 player CDG on the wars of reformation. The 2-player variant deck will be included in this. I really want to try this. It looks good enough that i went ahead and ordered it. There's plenty of info available here and on CSW. This one is on the fast track towards a reprint. A very simple game(the same can't be said for the spelling though) set in the Napoleonic era. A good month of growth on this one. Personally I'm not too interested in this one. I'm not a fan of Napoleonic games and this one comes off more as an abstract than a wargame. It is popular enough that I thought it would get a reprint fairly soon. It's starting to look like this one will be languishing on this list for a while. It's kind of surprising considering there are over 200 geeks looking for it. It's moving, just not nearly as fast as I had anticipated. Still it has had some respectable growth.

An interesting game of the German invasion of Crete in 1941. There's not much info on the geek. I found a copy of Air Assault on Crete, so why does this one still intrigue me? I'm more interested in this one, but I need more info before I decide. Wow, I don't think this one is listed on CSW. How is that possible?

What more needs to be said about this one? Ted Raicer's critically acclaimed game on WWI. One of the few wargames in the top 50 on the geek. I gave up trying to find a copy of this one, and hopped on the bandwagon.

I think there is still a market for this one out there thankfully. Given the recent announcements of mounted boards, I wonder if this is in line to receive one? I think a deluxe treatment with the deluxe map and players guide would cause this to skyrocket up the charts

Two 3-player scenarios with counters from C3i #19 (designed by Dan Fournie) - new to 2nd Edition
Two additional new scenarios (designed by Michael Gouker and Neil Randall) - new to 2nd edition
Two 6-sided dice

Richard Berg's strategic game covering the Mediterranean from 300 to 100 B.C. This game intrigues me. It covers several different scenarioes from Carthage, to the fall of Greece, to the Seleucids. I've ordered my copy and can't wait for it to get here.

This is now classified as a 2nd edition reprint with updates. It's another multiplayer wargame for those looking. Can't wait to get a game of this in. It's still a couple of years away tho, unfortunately.

New stuff for the 2nd edition includes all errata, the deluxe map, new scenarios, all the stuff from c3i, and 4 player mats. This is the way a reprint should be done. Get over there, order now. I want my copy.

Two-player Operational Game of the 1943 Kharkhov Campaign. Another game with no info here on the geek. It has a good rating, but no reviews or session reports. Why should i get this game? There was a nice review linked to several months ago, but I still am on the fence here. I'm leaning towards an order on this. After playing a couple of Mark's other games, I need to take a much harder look at this one. Someone convince me to order it.

This continues it's slow climb towards a reprint.

Wow, what a month. This is the first game to actually reach the 500 mark since I've taken over this list. It did it rather impressively too, with the first 100 order month I've seen for any of my games. Congratulations to all who ordered this. We should have this in our greedy little hands in 2 months.
