To find the apps listed below a smart place to start is Google Play

RULES FOR THIS LIST

Board Game: Dungeons & Dragons Basic Game
I'm surprised this little game has went without mention being how many D&D and fantasy fans there are in General.

I downloaded "Dweller" and had a few hours of fun with that one. It was good for what it was and sucked you in but you CAN'T SAVE! So as soon as you die, you have to start over (at least that is how it was on the older version I played, it looks like many changes have been made since then). I and likely many others suggested to the creator that he amend that so dying doesn't mean starting from scratch, not sure if it has been or ever will be.

"GURK" is better than Dweller in a few ways IIRC (been awhile since I played Dweller) but note both are FREE. You control 3 characters in a classic little D&D RPG game. Don't let the very simple graphics/interface fool you, its a true involved classic where you cast spells, find magic items like "Swords +1, Rings" etc and characters level up, all the good stuff.

I hesitated downloading and even playing this one just because it looked too basic but I did and enjoyed the heck out of it. The main complaints seem to be its too short and the game does not tell you when you've won. Also I don't think it can be moved to SD card but its a VERY small file. I think I completed it in 2 nights, so about 7 hours in total (though my memory could be wrong and maybe it was 3 nights).

I have not yet purchased a game from the marketplace just because I have found so many free ones to eat up any spare time I've had but Gurk 2 is supposed to improve some things and be a longer campaign so will likely be my first purchase (0.99 cheap too)

54. Board Game: Dungeons & Dragons Basic Game [Average Rating:6.79 Overall Rank:2872]
Board Game: Dungeons & Dragons Basic Game
Here is yet another very cool FREE D&D RPG game like GURK and could likely be the best one yet.

Inotia3: Children of Carnia

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.com2us.inotia3.nor...

There is a video there as well (beware VERY cheesy music...).

Its not without faults, or from a certain perspective at least. Main thing is it would seem to be geared more to children from a graphic and dialog standpoint. The grpahics are good, FAR better than Gurk or Dweller just a little "animaish" which some people will probably really like, I am good with the graphics overall.

Dialog however is cheesy at times (most) and you really want to bitchslap your character for being/talking so stupid. IIRC the beginning of the game is especially bad, I almost thought about uninstalling at one point right at beginning of game as it was drawn out but am glad I didn't. Also note the very first map screen you visit is very uneventful as well IIRC, you just explore a little and meet people but nothing happens. Don't let all this put you off, once you get through the intro and intro map screen the real game starts and its pretty good. EDIT - the really cheesy and boring beginning I think I had mixed up with another game, ZENONIA FREE, yet another decent RPG game, I would level most of the comments I made on Inotia3 to Zenonia as well though Inotia3 is probably the better game.

So I do think the Pros far outweigh the perceived cons, you have true story development here where as the others mentioned do not. Its also a very rich system overall and is a MUCH longer campaign than the others, I've played many nights and have no idea how close I am to the end. You even have an "item creation" system which I am still trying to figure out, skill development, etc, etc.

Overall enjoying this one, my one wish besides what I've already mentioned might be to have more than one character in play like Gurk. You do take on Allies however and you get to make choices in their development as well so this suffices.

OK, this is NOT based on any D&D board game, it is actually one of the oldest computer games ever made, and still one of the best: Nethack. (and the recently added Slash'Em variant which I am installing as I type this).

Then spend hours bouncing between the game, and here:

It's not yet on the market, since I have some improvements I wish to make beforehand.

So enjoy it here: Eaten by Android! A randomizer for Eaten by Zombies!

Game description from the publisher:

It is 1926, and the museum's extensive collection of exotic curios and occult artifacts poses a threat to the barriers between our world and the elder evils lurking between dimensions. Gates to the beyond begin to leak open, and terrifying creatures of increasing strength steal through them. Animals, the mad, and those of more susceptible minds are driven to desperation by the supernatural forces the portals unleash. Only a handful of investigators race against time to locate the eldritch symbols necessary to seal the portals forever. Only they can stop the Ancient One beyond from finding its way to Earth and reducing humanity to cinders.

Elder Sign is a fast-paced, cooperative dice game of supernatural intrigue for one to eight players by Richard Launius and Kevin Wilson, the designers of Arkham Horror. Players take the roles of investigators racing against time to stave off the imminent return of the Ancient One. Armed with tools, allies, and occult knowledge, investigators must put their sanity and stamina to the test as they adventure to locate Elder Signs, the eldritch symbols used to seal away the Ancient Ones and win the game.

To locate Elder Signs, investigators must successfully endure Adventures within the museum and its environs. A countdown mechanism makes an Ancient One appear if the investigators are not quick enough. The investigators must then battle the Ancient One. A clever and thematic dice mechanism pits their exploration against monsters and the sheer difficulty of staying sane and healthy, all within the standard game duration of one to two hours.

99 cents in the Android Market (also in Archos's AppsLib). It includes undo, help, prompting for legal moves, and a leaderboard. From the online help:

The rules

Pieces may move only along the lines, one step at a time.

Capture is by approach or withdrawal. In other words, to capture a piece, you either move into place to be adjacent to it (i.e., so that, if you moved one more step in the same direction, you would be on top of it), or else start out adjacent to it and move away from it (so that, if you had moved in the opposite direction, you would be on top of it). A piece may not capture both by approach and by withdrawal in the same move; the player must choose.

When you capture, you're actually capturing a line of pieces, not just one: all the opponent pieces in the same direction, up until a blank space or one of your pieces.

After each capture, if the same piece can make another capture, it must, provided it is changing direction, and provided it does not cross back on its path (within the same turn, that is).

If you can make a capture, you must.

The game is over when one player cannot move (usually, but not necessarily, because they have no pieces left).

I have a couple cards games up in the Market, the first being Foresight, linked here. I'm still assembling assets to fill up the entry here at BGG, but it's a trick-taking game using a special deck of cards with some information on the back. Market listing is here:

Also available on the Amazon market. I'm happy to answer any questions.

iOS and Android: Wargame: France 1940.

Big hex & counter game - well over 300 units. Whole of the West from Amsterdam to Strasbourg.

USD2.99 on all stores:

There are 4 options (plus a random choice) for the French player (either human or AI):
1. Dyle plan - the default option, with the best allied armies poised to march through Belgium to counter the expected German attack.
2. Escaut plan - same deployment as Dyle, only differs for the AI player, as this was a more cautious, limited advance into Belgium.
3. No BEF - hypothetical scenario where Britain is neutral.
4. Reserves - the French 7th army was originally meant to be a strategic reserve, instead of the extreme left of the Allied line. This option puts it in reserve near Paris.

The German player has 5 options (plus the random one), again either human or AI:
1. Manstein plan - the default option is the famous historical sickle cut through the Ardennes.
2. Hadler plan - Original plan was a variant on the old Schlieffen plan only on a broad front in Belgium and Holland.
3. Belgium plan - This was a concentrated thrust through Belgium, which would have met the Dyle plan head on.
4. Compromise - Hitler proposed a compromise plan, which had a secondary thrust through the Ardennes, with the main effort in Belgium.
5. A Strasburg hypothetical plan puts Panzergruppe Kleist, backed up by 7th Army reinforced with 3 infantry corps attacking South of Strasburg through the Maginot line!

This shows the default deployment around the Ardennes area (from my test version, the actual version has no hex IDs):

I've just stumbled across the website of a company (Handmark) that seems to be releasing quite a few Android versions of popular mainstream boardgames for sale. I wouldn't really consider them to be particularly attractive purchases for most BGG members, but I'll include them for completeness...

I've not purchased or seen any of Handmark's apps, so I cannot comment on how good they might be (and especially not on whether they're value for money!). Traditional classics like Chess and Go are also on their list (http://store.handmark.com/c/8413/android-classic-board-games...)

Cost: $4.99 USD

There are a couple of Go games and even a couple of Go clients for KGS and IGS.

Currently, I've been playing Pinball for Andriod(TM) by Magma. I even made a top 10 score for the Bowling table.

Hopefully, more developers will create a larger selection of boardgames.

Here's a new one that's getting rave reviews. One reviewer calls it Advance Wars for the Android.
