Okay here is ths situation I bring it to you, the wisest of the geeks (or at lease the most outspoken) ;p I am a gaming junkie. All kinds. It used to be primarily video game but about a year ago I started getting very much into board games so my grilfriend and I could play together.
This may be a common tale but, she plays sometimes, for my sake, but is generally not interested in the hobby. The solution? I bring the hobby to her brother. Success! He is hooked and I have a gaming buddy. AWESOME!
So sometimes we get to play with others but often it is just us, and there are many good games for playing with just 2 that play pretty quickly. So here is what I am looking for.
I need games that work well for 2 and play in about 2-5 hours. Something we can play with a day off instead of just in an hour in the evening. If anyone can come up with something thats fits this criteria please post the game, why it works well for 2 and about how long it takes. Thanks to all you great geeks out there.

A classic. We both like this one in all it's variations 2210 AD being my favortie. Okay for 2 since the nutral army balances things a little.

Okay this looks like a nice step up from risk. How does it play with 2? This is one I have considered but have never played.

This game is very good with 2 players. I looked at your games owned and what you had on the list. I think the two of you may like this. I am adding a couple more.

I'll guess I'll add the obvious....
Designed for two, plays in 3-5 hrs. Similar (but more complex) than Risk.

Another great 2 player game. Excellent supply rules and easy enough for me to play!
Can finish a game in 2 - 3 hours. Even if you are not a Civil War buff, it is still a good game with great mechanics.

This is my personal favorite.
Designed for 2 teams. Which is great in case you're able to get more people to play. The time limit for the game is set by the players. So, you can play for however long you want (In my experience, 3-4 hours is about right). It has much more opportunities for strategic / tactical play than Risk (IMHO). It gets panned here on the 'Geek by Euro-lovers for the dice rolling, but I find that luck isn't a huge factor if you play well (if you like Risk, you won't mind the dice tolling in this one). I would get at least sets #1 and #2. (Set #1 can be bought here on the 'Geek for about $20). Plus, if you love the game, as I do, there are a bunch of expansions to keep the game fresh. I have all of the expansions, and there are so many combinations of characters, equipment, terrain, etc. that there are new challanges with each session. Plus, the game is prone to some hilarious moments and lots of shouting & cheering. Most (all?) of the Euro-games that I own just don't generate this type of fun.

This game works very well for 2 players. However, it may take a while to digest all of the rules. It easily spans 3-5 hrs, and it is very popular with Risk players.

This is an advice if you want some wargame that is not too much complicated.
Europe Engulfed will take between 8 and 12 hours, one whole gaming day. It's very nice and well worth the playing time. Between 2 and 4 hours there are Age of Napoleon and The first world war.
