With Hurricane 5 being a favorite of our game group, I wondered if there were other cool game mechanics out there with a sequentially numbered deck of cards. I read about Relationship Tightrope in GAMES magazine and figured we could probably play it with the 6 Nimmt! deck. Obviously, we are looking at games where the cards count up to a specific number, i.e. 1-104.

Please add any other games you know that fit the bill.

The Knizia card game with cards numbered 1-50. I haven't tried it, but I think a standard deck of cards with Hearts (Red) and Spades (Black) could be used for scoring.

Use cards 1-52. Die should match 4 cards or tokens. So for example: use a regular d6 & four playing cards ace-4, four sudoku coins 1-4, etc. The remaining die results are wild. The bags can be anything.

Use cards in sets by tens in place of colors,(1-8 in first row, 11-18 in second row Ect..)
Use the 9-10 card of each set face down as the rest cards.
Use any cards over 100 for the equal cards (play them face down and switch places with the previous card in the row to make it easier to read the table.)

All you need is a tracker for the round, lives, shuriken, and to know which rounds give you another life or shuriken, or victory. You can print one of these out or make your own - just check the files section for The Mind, there are a few.

The German version of "Take 5!" is called "Hornochsen!".

As described in a similar GeekList:
"you just need tokens to replace the 2x and +5 cards" [six of each]

The game's description says "The deck is numbered from 1 to 98, with some of the cards having green bullheads and others having red bullheads. In this game greens are positive points and reds are negative points."



Update: Thanks to The Badger Rainbow Deck, I now know a more appropriate way for the points values to be distributed in the other bull/goat-head games, for playing this with a deck that doesn't have such indicators on the cards - see https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/5498/item/86906?commentid... - and to modify for Take 5 that uses positive and negative points, from this Take 5 thread,

Quote:
There are 12 special cards (with a red card back):
- six "x2" cards, which double the rows value (positive or negative)
- six "+5" cards, which count as five GREEN [positive] bullheads

Numbered cards (with a green card back) only range from 1 to 98
- Each "regular" card has one GREEN [positive] bullhead ...
- Each card that ends on 2 has two GREEN [positive] bullheads ... This includes the card 22

All remaining cards that were treated differently [having 2, 3, 5, or 7 bull heads] in Take 6! [aka 6 Nimmt, aka Category 5] retain their old value (with RED [negative] bullheads).

I think that adds up to:

2, 12, 22, 32, 42, 52, 62, 72, 82, 92 = +2;
5, 15, 25, 35, 45, 65, 75, 85, 95 = -2;
10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 = -3;
11, 33, 44, 66, 77, 88 = -5;
55 = -7 (as the intersection of the -2 chain and the -5 chain);
All other card numbers = +1

"Gloria Picktoria" is the name from the most recent releases of this game in the US and Germany. Aliases include "Cot Cot Collec" (French), "Get the Goods" (earlier US version), "Reibach & Co." (German), and "Hippe Kippen" (Dutch).

As described in a similar GeekList:
" "Get the Goods" has 90 cards: 10 different "suits" each appearing 9 times. So, if you use 1-9, 11-19, 21-29,...91-99 as the suits, you can play this game."

There's actually some other cards not mentioned in that description, per https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1620356/can-you-play-gloria... :
" GP [Gloria Picktoria] has
9 each of 10 types of collection cards
10 Rooster cards
5 doubler cards
5 wild cards "

So that would be [1-9, 11-19, 21-29, 31-39, 41-49, 51-59, 61-69, 71-79, 81-89, 91-99] to cover the "9 each of 10 types", and then you could use [10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100] to represent the ten rooster cards (which I guess were the dollar-sign cards in the "Get the Goods" version shown), but would have to either substitute tokens for the doubler and wild cards or do without those.

"The 79 cards in total show the numbers from 12 to 98. The numbers 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 are not included. Each Toad Card with identical digits (22, 33, 44, etc [55, 66, 77, 88]) counts 5 minus points, if you have to remove it from the centre of the table. All other cards always count 1 point per card (either minus or plus [depending on how you play it, not on the card numbers])."

Also known as "Land Unter" (German version of the "Turn the Tide" title) and "Zum Kuckuck!" (the original German bird-themed version).

Found via a comment about Relationship Tightrope, another game on this list.

From its game page description:

"Players are dealt a hand of 12 from a deck of 1-60 (the remainder go back in the box for the whole game) [the 'Weather Cards'], and then lay out marker cards that show the other players the strength of their hand. Another scoring deck of 24 has values of 1-12 [the 'Water Level Cards']; two cards from this deck are laid face up."

There are also 24 'Life Preserver Cards', which get flipped over as you lose them. In some versions these are round tokens, in other versions they are cards the same size as the rest of the cards; there's a picture of a life preserver on one side, and empty water on the other side.

So use 1-60 from your sequentially-numbered deck as the Weather Cards, and A-Q (1-12) of two suits from a deck of regular playing cards as the Water Level Cards. You'll also need 24 poker chips (if yours don't have distinguishable front/back sides, it sounds like you could just move them to a designated discard area as you lose them), and a scoresheet (here or here).

Found on the Rage deck list.

It uses 6 sets of cards numbered 1-9, so for a sequentially-numbered deck, I'd use 11-19, 21-29, 31-39, 41-49, 51-59, & 61-69. (The first digit would indicate the 'suit'/color, and the second digit would indicate the card's number.) It also uses 9 "stones", which could be poker chips, dice, or any other convenient objects.

Found on the Rage deck list.

Uses 5 sets of 6 cards numbered 0-5 (a total of 30 cards), and 5 sets of 5 markers (a total of 25 - poker chips or plastic animal figures).

For a sequentially-numbered deck, use 10-15, 20-25, 30-35, 40-45, & 50-55.

Or for matching backgrounds with the new "The Game" deck, add 1 to everything: use 11-16, 21-26, 31-36, 41-46, & 51-56.

Decide which color of poker chip to associate with which card range. (I have a small set of poker chips that includes 5 colors: white, red, blue, green, and yellow. I see black is also commonly available.)

Found from a comparison to Wildlife Safari.

Uses 10 sets of 8 cards numbered 0-7 (80 total). Also has 9 special action cards in 3 types, to be mixed in with the other cards (so they need to all have matching backs):



To use a sequentially-numbered deck, for the 80 cards, use 0-7 [if playing with a deck that doesn't come with a '0', substitute a '100'], 10-17, 20-27, 30-37, 40-47, 50-57, 60-67, 70-77, 80-87, & 90-97.

Or for matching backgrounds (except the "1") with the new "The Game" deck, add 1 to everything: use 1-8, 11-18, 21-28, 31-38, 41-48, 51-58, 61-68, 71-78, 81-88, & 91-98.

Either omit the special action cards (which might be more enjoyable anyway), or designate some of the unused card numbers to be those - such as having 19,29,39 be one type, 49,59,69 be the second type, and 79,89,99 be the third type.

In addition to Pico 2, its predecessor Pico works just as well, as I realized after seeing it on the Rage list.

From the game page:
"Card distribution is slightly different than that of Pico 2. Pico cards run 2-10, 13 and 16. The later version, Pico 2, sees the cards run 4-13, 16."

Originally uses 36 wood pieces, 6 shapes in 6 colors. Plus 36 coins and 1 'game figure' (meeple).

To play with sequentially-numbered cards, replace the shape-factor and color-factor with tens-digits and ones-digits in the following card numbers (the exact corresponences don't matter, just look at whether someone has taken all of a matching set of 6, e.g. 'cards starting with 1s', 'cards ending with 4s', etc). Plus 36 poker chips and some small toy (e.g. a Lego minifigure).

Comes with 60 total tiles, in 4 color-coded sets, numbered 1-15.

Uses different amounts of the tiles for different numbers of players (only uses the full amount with 5 players); needing to use more than 10 cards per original suit/color is impractical with sequentially-numbered decks, but the smaller amounts needed for 2 or 3 players are doable.

For 2 players, use cards numbered 11-15 and 21-25 (or any other two ranges of 1-5), plus 2 'wildcard' cards per player (substitute any unused cards; if using a "The Game" deck, could use the two 1s as the wildcards for one player, and the two 100s for the other player).

For 3 players, use cards numbered 11-19, 21-29, & 31-39 (or any other three ranges of 1-9).
