I hope there isn't one of these out there, probably, if so, let me know so I can link it here.

The idea is that there seem to be a lot of fun ideas out there that are turned into games with piles and piles of cards. But the thing is that the "game" is an after thought. It is almost completely an excuse to use the cards. I think the examples will make it clear. Please add yours!

I tend to find most of these at the thrift stores where they are easily worth the dollar or two. You get some fun cards and usually some bits to recycle into your collection. Plus you have a time consuming activity that is fun, non-competitive, and takes up much less space than a board game.

Let me go further and say 90% of these companies KNEW this. Nearly everyone that I have added to the list created a box within a box that had the game logo printed on it. How can that not be acknowledgment that the game might get trashed, but the cards might be kept?

Somewhat like the One Minute Mysteries books, but a little harder because you do have someone with additional knowledge thanks to the backs of the cards.

It is bogged down with a competition type game that has no tie to a detective career or anything remotely interesting.

Quelf's boring uncle. Enough said. Keep the cards and you can have an excuse to pretend to be on a motorcycle and sing leader of the pack.

So what would you do with this one?

Excellent trivia cards.
They come in several different categories.
I'll keep those!

Nifty modular pentagonal board pieces.
They come in four different types!
I'll keep those!

An over-sized d12 die.
Compared to a penny for size comparison.
I'll keep that!

There plenty of chits that be used for markers in other games.
stored in an excellent insert tray, which neatly holds everything,
I'll keep both the chits and the insert!

The rules are printed on a folded sheet of paper.
The rules are not very good, but I can use the paper to cover the components and protect them from dust.
I'll keep the rules sheet!

A very pretty looking box,
which perfectly holds all of the components.
I'll keep that!

Maybe, just maybe, someday, I will do something really nice with all of these great components. Other people have!
I'll keep them all!

However, it is not such a great game.
So I'll just get rid of everything except
I'll keep all the parts I want to keep!

whistle

Note: I greatly appreciate your list! I hope you appreciate the dilemma (and humor) that is inherent to this game, in relation to your list!

I really enjoy the cards in this one. My grandfather was an English professor who taught serious classes on James Joyce and other things. With that in my background, I can't help but see this as "Finnegan's Wake the Board Game"...

Problem is that the game itself is crap!

What do you do with this one?

Stock certificates representing forty (40) different, real international corporations.

Distinctive, colorful, beautiful looking money and other nice game components.

A circular track board with colorful pawns.

An erasable stock board for keeping track of price fluctuations.

Individual player score sheets (this one happens to be in French)

A great insert which holds all the components for storage and neatly holds all of the stocks during game play.

It had such great potential: great components, a great look, and is just so appealing. However, it is very obvious, after one play, that the rules were never play tested.

Because of this great disparity between its potential and actual game play,
I consider Maxi Bour$e to be the worst game ever made. gulp
It was pricey, too, when I purchased this game.

Truly it is a game where the sum total of all the components is greater than the game itself. Look at its rating! It definitely ranks down there!

So I want to completely trash this game, but I have never been able to part with all of the wonderful components, especially those stock certificate cards of the 40 companies. shake

I hate the idea of adding this to the list. I am because I know someone else would, and I want to have my say first! (Hey, it's my list!)

I think this is one of the only games that NEEDS the roll and move, get to the goal feeling. There is a reason for this:

The game is so insane and disjointed, doing it without the "game" could only serve to make it more disjointed.

No, wait... there are two reasons... two reasons these cards need the game...

The game would be more disjointed AND... Certain action cards occur for periods of time related to the game (Roolz). If you want the Roolz cards, you have to play the game.

Plus... who doesn't want to be a biscuit farmer?

This game is based on the old "You make the call" snippets shown during athletic contests on TV way back when. The game itself is not very good, but the cards can be used to entertain sports fans as they travel.

A stupid board game slapped on, and a card box with all the info you need to identify it after you throw everything else away!

Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy evil hellspawn of a child, at least the cards are somewhat interesting and use an idea that hasn't been published prior (to my knowledge). It is a unique take on trivia and general word play, but the "game" is horrible. Again, don't die of boredom, just play until you want to stop!

Perhaps this is the defining "game" for this list. I am not so much a fan of trivia board games because of this. There are so many better ways to play with trivia cards. Sure, at the time it was pretty unique, but it just seems to take too long.

Better to just extract the cards and take turns quizzing each other until you are bored.

A fun set of cards with another awful game tacked on. I don't even remember how the rules say to play, but when I tried it once I just about passed out from the waste of time.

However, these cards are super fun. Tanga fans would really enjoy this deck!
