You can play this game with a stick and a patch of dirt. There is no reason to pay any amount of money for it. I don't care if it is made out of Dodo feet and Unicorn horns, it is still just Tic-Tac-Toe.
It's probably true to most small publishers' games, but I had to comment on this one. Tiles are made in thin cardboard (acceptable, but far inferior to the standards of German games) and cards don't even have rounded corners. Metal miniatures look like an unnecessary luxury, especially compared to the other components, but the publisher is a miniatures manufacturer and they just took a couple of their existing models and put into the game. Not worth the list price of $50, nor even around $35 at some on-line stores. But I was lucky enough to get it on eBay, factory sealed, for mere $11.15! Definetely more than worth what I paid, and it's an enjoyable game if are into the theme and don't mind a little chaos.
Frag is fun and I love PVP so I thought that this would be great. From a PVP fan perspective it is cool to have the figures of the PVP characters. From a game play perspective the cards are funny but don't add enough to gameplay to be worth the same price as the original game.
"Far from true. $10 Crokinole boards are available from Amazon. Hilinski boards run ~$125. Other suppliers vary. Only the very notably good boards such as the Gray Owls and Eagles tend to run near the $200 point."
Where? Could you provide a link to the $10 board? I searched Amazon and did not find anything remotely close to that price for a Crokinole board.
Please tell me if you are talking about something made out of paper mache or some other junk material.
This is a fairly nice, clever game from a new company that, for me, is really hurt by the high price tag ($60-ish for us Americans through FunAgain - and even the 35 Euro price through Adam Spielt is not cheap). This really wants to be a $30-$35 game. It's clever, but in the class of good but disposable games, so it really needs to be cheaper. I'd feel a lot better about having bought it at half the price.
Let me explain: $50 for the Rule book $30 for a squad of infanty $30 for a squad of heavy infanty $40 for a APC for the heavy infanty $35 for a mech $30 for a squad of fast attack bikes $40 for a tank about $45 for assorted other things
so thats about $300 USD for a starter army!! For that you coud get 7 Ages Doom Wallenstein and other games
