I have noticed in the last year or so, that the overall quality in games is not what it used to be. I'm sure it's the general global economy being (still) in somewhat of a downturn. However, as many of us are purchasing these games partially for the esthetics (ie: quality, look and feel), it is somewhat disheartening. I now no longer know what I'm going to get whan I get a new game - component-wise.

Please add to the list items which seem to have a noticably lower quality/value than games from the same manufacturer in previous years. This could be plastic vs. wood, smaller cards, thinner cards, etc.

First noticed this on Crocodile Pool Party. The box is MUCH thinner than previous Kosmos boxes. I haven't had any other of the newer Kosmos games, so I am not sure if it's just this particular game or all of them.

Corsari: I don't think I've ever seen cards this thin and flimsy. It is extremely easy to bend/crease these cards when using or shuffling. Adlung is very high quality compared to these.

Die Weinhandler: New AMIGO release in a newer small box format. The plastic case has room for a regular deck of cards, but they chose a small deck (2 7/8" x 1 7/8" (just shy of 1 7/8) for this game. With only 66 cards, and some counters that fit on a folded single sheet, it seems that they could at least have used bridge sized cards. Particularly when it's ~$15-16 at the discount places. It's not just shipping / price of Euro as it's 8,59 Euro's from Adam Spielt.

Razzia!: Same as Die Weinhandler, although more defensible as there are 99 crads here. However, how to shuffle 99 cmall cards?

Geschenkt: I haven't measured, but I am almost certain that the new AMIGO card game box is smaller. Geschenkt has Bridge sized cards (close enough), as opposed to the larger cards I had seen in previous AMIGO card games. With only 33 cards, clearly the could have used larger cards, but then they'd need a slightly larger box...can't do that if you're moving all your card games to smaller cards. They are the same size as the current Adlung releases, so I could be mistaken here...I will update when I can check as I'm also interested in seeing if the older Adlung games have the same size cards.

Seasim: I would not have expected to see a puzzle board in any game from a publisher publishing to the German market. It's a thinner board than I'd like, and banging the corners of the puzzle side can be problematical. I only have prior experience with Logistico, but certainly this seems like a step back from a quality standpoint. I AM appreciative of the small box the game comes in, but puzzle boards only impress me if they're replacements for games that only had a paper or paper laminated board.

What can i say about the 1st Edition of Kogge? Badly printed, handmade components. Cost: 40+ euro!

(2nd Edition is better but still can't compare with German game quality).
