Ross, our original Geeklister, did one of these summaries list for 2008. I decided to take up the mantel and do it for 2009. Not only because it interests me, but because is is a probably a good thing for Dave (our excellent host) to see what gets played consistently throughout the year. Dave likes to trade games.

If you aren't familiar with the Indy Boardgamers, we are a group of gamers who meet at Dave's place on an almost weekly basis. Him and his wife Tami are kind enough to let us invade their basement nearly 40 times year for 6.5 hours of gaming bliss each time. Thanks Dave & Tami! You are great hosts! Also, Todd should be thanked for all the Geeklists he puts up logging our exploits - I got the stats for this from those lists.

Dave is a self-proclaimed member of the cult of the new, which a lot of the Indy Gamers tend to follow as well, as you can see from the following list. A total of 118 games were played 311 times throughout the year. Even though a lot of games are only played 1 or 2 times, the top 4 games from last year are the same this year, though the order is switched a bit.

Moving up from 2nd on 2008's Most Played Games list, Dominion takes the first slot. I noticed it did really slow down as the year progressed though, but I can only assume that is because it is a game that can be played with family relatively (get it?) easy, so the need to pull it out on game day is less.

This game gets a ton of plays, because some of our most consistent members (Ross & Todd) really love it and try to play it often. This almost had the opposite flow of Dominion, starting slow, but picking up towards the end of the year. Are they an either or type of game for us Indy Boardgamers?

This is the one that is most impressive to me. Not only is it the 3rd most played game on the list, but I would say it is the top 20% of longest games we play at Indy Boardgamers. We have a huge following of Agrico-holics, the most notorious being Mike who at GenCon played something like 8 or 10 games of Agricola in 3 days. Agricola pretty much has a table to itself with the Indy Boardgamers.

I'm sorta surprised this one is this high on the list. But throughout the year it just gets consistent play. The fan base of it within the group seems to be solidly growing and my guess is that it is a solid middle of the road type game that everyone can agree on and bring out.

Ahh...the great San Marco Civil War of 2009 that nearly divided our not so humble group. Somehow this one was introduced to our group with the incorrect rules. Everyone loved it! Then, our local rules guru, actually read the rules and explained we had been playing it wrong the whole time! There was some blood, a few paper cuts, somebody through Dave D's brownies, and Bailey bit someone's pants, but in the end we stuck together. Now though, before this one is pulled out, there is always the discussion of which rules we play.

Though we do play a lot of new and new-to-us games, Puerto Rico is an older game (by older I mean has been played in the group since the beginning I believe), that still sees table time consistently. By consistently, I mean once every couple months. Without a doubt though, if you ask for a PR game with the Indy Boardgamers, you'll have takers.

It is assumed that this is Ross' favorite game (though we all secretly knows he likes Bottle Imp the best). What is surprising is that it only was played as many times as it was throughout the year, considering the speed that it can be played. Our group however tends to not play fillers if possible though and instead play the 1-3 hour games. Fillers, like No Thanks! tend to be just that - a game that takes up the time between the main show.

Another one from the same boat as Puerto Rico, that I assume has been played since the group's conception. Though there are a couple irregular players (Steph) that just don't like Ra, most of us would be more than happy to take a trip around the Nile.

This is the first one on the list that Dave doesn't own. As far as I know, I'm the only one in the group that owns it, so it surprised me that it made the list. It is one of my favorites though and thanks to a 3 play week when I & Brent went at it, it got in the top 10.

Another filler that makes our Top 10 Games Played List. I only had the opportunity to play this once, wasn't extremely impressed by it and would rather play other fillers first (No Thanks, Fairy Tale, or Hey! That's My Fish), but the group obviously had a good enough time with it to bring it out. I'm guessing though, since this seemed to have been played a lot during a quick time frame, that this won't make the list in 2010.

Honorable Mention: Metropolys had 6 plays as well, but it took 6 weeks to get them.
