It came to my mind, that many games I like, start with a C. And 32 of the 239 games start with a C.

So, I guess, if I were forced to reduce my collection down to a single letter of the alphabet, I would choose: C.

And you?

Please ignore starting words of game titles like "A ..." or "The ..."

And of course, you can check alternative names of games - just have fun.

A would get me pretty far. In fact, I think I could play for quite awhile without even noticing I had lost anything!

My wife's favorite game is Agricola, which we play at least once or twice weekly.

My favorite game [that I rarely get to play!] is Alien City, would get heavier rotation.

I've a number of other "A" favorites, including Antike, Attika [the variant I play with makes use of the temples from Antike, so I could even still play that!], At the Gates of Loyang, rising stars Age of Steam and Ad Astra, and old standby Acquire.

There are some others I'd love to get that start with "A", including Age of Industryand Antiquity. With those and a few others, an "A" collection would actually be pretty dang nice. I could be happy for a long time with just these.

Second choice would be "R", for Roads & Boats and Race for the Galaxy.

[Sniffle - I'd just drafted up my first-ever geeklist, and before publishing remembered that I should check if anyone else had addressed the same topic....D'oh!!]

For me, it's B - in fact, reflecting on how many B games I liked to play is what got me thinking about such a list! In particular, the variety of themes and styles of game that I have under the B category made me think that I could probably play a long time, with a lot of different people, if I only had access to my B-games

Notable inclusions:
- BattleTech and Blood Bowl;
- Bonaparte at Marengo and Blue vs. Gray;
- Blokus and Bolide;
- The Battle for Hill 218 and Battle Line;
- Betrayal at House on the Hill and Britannia.

Notable weakness/missing: 2p abstract soblue

Here is a list of games with C I really like or am interested in. I don`t know, why it is C.

Caravelas
I contributed to the German translation - looking forward to its release at Essen 2010.

Caribbean Funny bidding, very light for the whole family.

Ca$h 'n Gun$
Great politically incorrect fun!

Catacombs
Translated into German.

Chaos Tiles Love the tiles, the concept, even if it is really strange ...

Chase Best use of dice ever!

Chess Classic and still good.

Chicago Express Owning "Wabash Cannonball" liking the reduced graphic better than the Queen stuff.

Circus Maximus Card game with almost perfect information, tough bidding, highly interactive. And simple!

City and Guilds Nice interwoven mechanisms.

The Climbers 3D stacking at its best. Translated into English.

Colorito Great gem from 1892. Translated the original rules and contributed to the re-publishing by nestorgames.

Condottiere Card-driven area control.

Confucius Translated into German. Favourite "complex" game.

Xiangqi
Well, this is Chinese Chess, right? My all-time favourite of all times and forever.

I would choose the letter K. Not game that start with the letter K, but games from designers who's name start with K (first or last).

El Grande
Tikal
Mexica
Torres
Maharaja
Vikings
Ra
Amun-Re
Ingenious
Winner's Circle
Settlers of Catan
Carcassonne
TZAAR

T is for Ted so I am sticking with that.

This gives me three of my Top 5 plus a few other solid choices as back up.

Totaler Krieg!. Best WWII ETO game out there
Tigris & Euphrates. Most thematic abstract (I know, I know....)
Twilight Struggle. Best CDG

Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization. Perhaps the best implementation of civ building.
Through the Desert. Best candy coated game
Thebes. Great theme (digging/drawing from the bag)

If only they would have named thes games a bit differently:

To Race for the Galaxy
The World is in Flames
Teuroshima Hex
Totally Puerto Rico
