These are the games I received as gifts, bought, or stolen in 2010. Some will be new games that came out this year. Others will just new to me. I will try to include a rating for them. I will also add to the list as the year progresses. At the end I will announce what for me was my favorite of the new crop, but remember the game could have come out years ago.

It will also include expansions. I will try to put them in the order I received them, but that may be hazy chronologically.

Try not to mock my taste. (Also no games were stolen. That was a joke Mr. FBI.)

This was the first game I got in 2010. I used my auction winnings (by selling used games.) from a local game store to purchase it. One of my favorites of the year. I love the theme, and sometimes it replaces Age of Empires III for that worker placement fixed economy engine thing. My friend, Ross taught me the game. Some of my friends don't like the mathiness of it, but I think the tiles help the income addition go by smoothly. I'd give it a 9.

I think I have played this game the most out of my new games. Partly because of how long I have had it. It's elegant design, and I play with my buddy Charlie the best of three. My heart was broken at this time, and Charlie would entertain me with this game. I don't like this at much as 1960, but I like it more Twilight Struggle. I also appreciate the compactness of the game, and the short playing time. I have played this at restaurants, and bars. I think it is a 9. The only complaint is the card stock wears out quickly.

Escher26 taught me this simple game. I enjoy it. It is one of the favorites for my friends that play gateway games. This is one that my current gf will actually ask to play. (She thinks that games are okay.) I think is about a 7. The game's art is beautiful, and I wouldn't mind an expansion.

I got this because of Campaign Manager 2008, and 1960. I enjoy this game, but is my least favorite, although I can see why it might be someone's favorite by that designer. It is too long for my buddy Charlie. (He likes 2 hour playing time max.) I am sure if we played it enough it might fit that parameter. He'd rather play something else. I haven't played enough for it to click, and don't think I will be able to. Charlie figured it out after the first game, and beaten me since consistently. I'd give it an 8. I'd like to play it the near future but don't know when. (I really like the theme in this. I like the political theme. Some of my other game players don't like the political and won't try it. So sad.)

Kinda of a gift. Kinda of an impulse buy. I didn't get to try it before I received it. It is going to the trading/auction side of the the room. It isn't bad... just not for me. I do like dice in my games so I thought as a Euro with dice it might be a winner. It is not. I'd give it a six.

This is a 8 for me. It might go down, but I love it's niche. I like the fixed rounds. I like how fast it is. I like it has multiple ways to win. There isn't that much luck. I use this as a stepping stone after gateway games. I play with more groups of people that play around this level. I mean I'd love to play Princes of Florences, Puerto Rico, Agricola, Glory to Rome, Race for the Galaxy, to just to name a few, but those games are a step beyond. (My friend, Charlie, who is consistently on my level of gaming, but that forces two player games, and we are attracted to different types.)

So Endeavor does the trick. I might find a group to play those games, or I may not, but I still enjoy Endeavor for what it does. A nice fun game multiple ways to win, and not too long.

Ace in my book.

I love Race for the Galaxy. It is my favorite game. I love the strategy, and the tactics are wonderful. I love the many ways to win, and love how fast and deep this game can be played. It is so satisfying. I love how drawing cards to me in this game feels like exploring. It is yummy.

This expansion with the new type of points gives more choices, and more ways to win. I give the expansion a nine.

Long live Race, but their is an unpleasant thing about Race and it's expansions. It has a learning cliff I mean curve. Sure you will understand and love the symbols. It will take awhile. But then we keep throwing in more stuff, and making it harder for a new person to play. I guess that is true with any expansion, but this stuff is really trying.

I will and have gladly taught this game, but it has to be someone willing to learn. Someone who will try it several times, before it clicks.

Unfortunately this doesn't hit the table as much as I'd like, because of the whole in depth learning thing.

Still may favorite expansion of the year.

My old gaming group didn't really like Dominion. My ex-girlfriend and I thought it was awesome, and played many of two player games. After we broke up, and our old gaming group split up, I didn't think I'd play this game that much. So I didn't think I'd get Alchemy.

I will add that both of my brothers who live in California love this game. One plays board games, and the other only when I am in town. I thought they might be the only people I'd play Dominion with.

Low and behold a few of the other (new) people I have since gamed with have played and loved Dominion as well. So now it hits the tables often. This fact, and a trip to visit my brothers justified a splurge in getting Alchemy. I enjoy Alchemy, but I rank it about the same as the base game. I don't know what makes it not as satisfying. I will say that both my brothers, and a friend (in the aforementioned game group.) I play with actually ask to play without Alchemy.

7 is my rating.

So maybe that splurge was not justified.

The aforementioned Ross taught me this game. The first time I played I thought it was okay. It was a solid seven. It was sometime in January. The thing is I thought of the game.It wasn't often but it would buzz into my conscience now and then. How I could do better? How could I have made more points?

I also remember Ross telling me the game was great between 1-3 players. (This iis great because this may not be the deepest game, but it would work well with Charlie and I. He is the guy that I play my deeper games with.) I read some more reviews, and excited by the solo game I took the plunge. I love this game makes you think laterally. I enjoy it more then Agricola. Which I know is heresy to some members to this webzone.

My youngest brother Phil, enjoyed this game. As did my friends in Boulder, Co. My current girlfriend even liked it. I believe the vegetable meeples pulls them in.

I rate it an 8, and yeah the solo play is awesome.

I love the co-designers to this game. I believe Campaign Manager 2008 is the stronger of the two games released this year by the designers. I enjoy this game.

I pre ordered last year. I will never do that again. Jolly Rogers was a joy with their updates, and answers to questions, but it was kinda of nerve wracking. This was the first game I ever pre ordered to. I have since read many horror stories on the geek about never received pre orders.

I only pre ordered it because of the designers.

This game plays best between 3-4, but I have mostly played it between 2-3 players. I do enjoy this game, but only one other person has warmed up to it. My girlfriend does not like this game. So it sits on my shelf.

As noted earlier many people I play with don't like political themes. Shame. It is a solid game. I rate it an 8. It could go higher or lower if I got more plays.

9. As in I give this game a nine. It is the top running of my favorite game of the year. The other two are Carson City, and Campaign Manager 2008.

This is a cooperative game. I love cooperative games. I like the concept. I also love Arkham Horror. I believe this is the same designer. I love the figures. I love the concept. I love the tension. I love the balancing act. I enjoyed that it took me ten games to beat it on easy. I have since then beat it again, however it has only been with my friend Charlie. All other people and solo have resulted in loses.

Charlie will play this. He normally doesn't like co-ops but enjoys this. It isn't too long either. (He only likes games 2 hours max, unless it is Power Grid.) It has a little too much luck, but he still plays it.

My other buddy Zack, who I play Arkham Horror, Talisman, with loves this game as well. Hell I even taught it to a married couple, who normally only play gateway games. They enjoyed it.

You know who didn't like this game? My girlfriend. Thank the atoms that this game has warmed up to other people or it might have the same fate as Founding Fathers.

The only bad thing I can say about this game is doesn't have enough heroes out of the box. I got the barbarian so I have a total of nine, but since their regularly 4 out at a time you see much of the same heroes over again. I think it should have shipped with 12, but would have raised the price even more.

This is a good solid 8. I love how portable and fast this deck building game is. I think my brothers will enjoy it when I go to California. The people that I play Dominion will enjoy this when they want to play something different. I have played this solo a few times, and works well with it.

It reminds me more of Race then Dominion. I mean there is a Dominion element don't get me wrong, but their is that tactic element that Race has.

This has been a big hit with the Dominion players, and my girlfriend plays it with me. In fact, she beats me quite often at it. Charlie isn't sold on it, but then he doesn't like luck as I added before.

Oh boy. This may be runner up for the expansion of the year. This... I think is my favorite expansion of Dominion.

This may be better than Seaside.

I have to play it a few more times to know for sure. This is definitely better than Alchemy. It changes the game in an unexpected ways. I don't play with Colonies all the time as per the instructions, but when they are in... the game opens up beautifully.

Must buy if you enjoy Dominion. I might even think it is the first expansion to get after your Base Dominion.

I'd rate it a nine.
