This list is one of a set of lists of games with different victory conditions. For more info on the set, refer to the Mother List:

http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/5531/different-victory-con...

Rules for adhering to the Careers archetype:

1. The game may be played with two or more players.
2. Each player secretly chooses, or is assigned, a victory condition at the beginning of the game, which he then keeps secret. It is possible for multiple players to be pursuing the same victory condition, either by their having chosen the same VC (e.g. Careers), or by having been randomly assigned the same one (e.g. Mystic War).
3. Common victory conditions are allowed, as long as the other rules apply (even though Careers itself has no common victory condition).

In Magic Realm, each player chooses his own victory conditions from a set of five categories: Fame, Notoriety, Gold, Magic, and Great Treasures. Players can choose multiple "levels" in each catergory.

Basically, at the beginning of the game, you choose which character you will play, and then you assign 5 points into these categories. So, you might decide that your victory condition for this game will be 2 levels of Fame and 3 levels of Notoriety, or you might pick 1 level of each, etc.

It's not guaranteed that each player will choose something unique, but the range of viable choices is large enough to allow a lot of variety.

In this game, each player has a different victory assigned to them at random at the beginning of the game.
(Since the list description says the players have to choose their victory, I'm not sure if this game fits in, but it feels like the same kind of mechanism.)
During the game, a player's victory condition may be revealed to other players. Also, at some points in play, players may draw a new (replacement) victory condition.

Twenty points are divided between Destiny Points and Story Points. Players win by being the first to achieve these goals and reach Baghdad. There is also a common victory condition: being the first player to become a Sultan and reach Baghdad.

Secret goal cards, with 6 of a possible 13 characters, are drawn before each round. A player scores points based on what level of the castle his/her characters end up on. Characters not listed on your goal card give you no points. Since all players can move any of the characters during the game (but only upwards to increase their value), and any character who gets promoted to King (the highest) may get removed from the game by a vote, this is an excellent game of maneuvering and bluffing to achieve the most points.

This game falls into the same category as King Me!, so I'm storing it here until I create that other daughter list.

Each player represents a different early Christian sect, which is randomly assigned four articles of faith. These are kept secret. Through persuasion and voting, each player must try to get their articles of faith approved in church councils. Other sects may share some of the same articles of faith.

Hence, there are nonexclusive, secret factors that influence the victory, but in reality all players achieve victory the same way: by getting the most articles of faith into the creed by the end of the game. As a mechanic this is as far as I can tell identical to the mechanic in King Me!: "get other players to vote for an item that you secretly support in some way, and whose victory will benefit you and all other players who support it equally." This is in contradistinction to Kremlin, in which the victory of that politician will really only benefit one player at a time.
