We have a vast and growing database of people covering a huge variety of games. In amongst the cross-section of humanity, a few noble souls have slipped into the database that at first glance may surprise you.

Sure, we expect to find such luminaries as Jeff Easley or Gerald Brom here. This GeekList isn't about them. Rather this GeekList aims to gather together those artists whose work graces various games, but who are not known primarily for their gaming work.

Criteria for inclusion:
Famous, a proxy for which is that they should be listed on Wikipedia.
Non-gaming artist, by which their claim to fame should be for art but not for work on games.
Game credits, by which they should be somehow linked to a board game, RPG, or video game.

Feel free to add more names to the list. People are sorted alphabetically.

"Konrad Witz (c. 1400–1410 probably in Rottweil, Germany – c. winter 1445/spring 1446 in Basel, Switzerland) was a German-born painter, active mainly in Basel, Switzerland. His 1444 panel, The Miraculous Draft of Fishes (a portion of a lost altarpiece) is credited with being the earliest extant faithful portrayal of a landscape in European art history, being based on observation of real topographical features. Witz is most famous for painting three altarpieces, all of which survive only partially."

"Lawson Wood sometimes Clarence Lawson Wood, (23 August 1878 – 26 October 1957), was an English painter, illustrator and designer known for humorous depictions of cavemen and dinosaurs, policemen, and animals, especially a chimpanzee called Gran'pop, whose annuals circulated around the world. Wood was decorated by the French for his gallantry at Vimy Ridge during World War I. He was deeply concerned with animal welfare and was awarded membership in the Royal Zoological Society in 1934. His animal designs were reproduced as wooden toys and he established a sanctuary for aged creatures."

He died of an overdose of morphine in London at the age of 30. He was the father of Richard Caton Woodville Jr., also a noted artist. In his short career he produced fewer than 20 paintings; but they were well known in their time through exhibition and prints and have remained prominent in the canon of American painters."

"Joseph Wright (3 September 1734 - 29 August 1797), styled Wright of Derby, was an English landscape and portrait painter. He has been acclaimed as 'the first professional painter to express the spirit of the Industrial Revolution.' ... His paintings of the birth of science out of alchemy, often based on the meetings of the Lunar Society, a group of very influential scientists and industrialists living in the English Midlands, are a significant record of the struggle of science against religious values in the period known as the Age of Enlightenment."
