PeakHope's list of cooperative games up to 2018
The list is now sorted alphabetically. To find out if a game is listed, it's easiest to go to that game's BGG page, and click on More/Geeklists. Sort by "Hot", and see if this geeklist is in the list. Or, while viewing this geeklist, you can use the "Titles Only" link, along with your browser's find-in-page feature (Ctrl-F). There are several pages to search through, however.
If you spot an error in an entry, please add a comment for that entry, or send geekmail to me pointing it out.
Here are some types of games NOT included on this list:
- Not yet released
- Traitors or betrayal
- Require DM/GM/Referee
- One vs. Many
- Just for kids
- Activities (as opposed to games)
- Games release in 2019 or later may or may not be in the list
When I started this list back in 2010, there were very few pure co-ops on the market, and a lot of games tagged as being co-ops that really weren't. The existing geeklists of co-ops tended to be small, or included games that were not pure co-ops. Co-ops were a weird little niche in the hobby, and it was kind of difficult to discover new ones. This list seemed like a valuable resource, and I enjoyed maintaining it.
Today, nine years later, cooperative games are fully mainstream. BGG has updated their "co-operative" category definition to exclude semi-cooperative, 1-vs-many, traitor, and team games. So it's useful now.
There are a flood of new co-ops hitting the market every month. As I type this, I am aware of 20+ new co-ops that deserve to be on this list, and I'm probably subscribed to 50 other upcoming games that I would post when they are actually released.
But I just can't keep up, and it has become a burden. So I'm surrendering. I will continue to add a co-op to the list now and then, but I will no longer feel obligated to do so. I have also disabled the ability for others to add games to this list.
EDIT 2012-09-22: Clarified some wording.
EDIT 2014-12-08: Accidentally added a 3-player game.
EDIT 2014-12-28: 3-player games are now included.
EDIT 2019-05-04: Major shift to an editable list, sorted by time added.
EDIT 2019-08-11: Officially surrendered and renamed and re-closed the list.
