I thought of two that seem like they would work pretty well. Can you add some?

Poker – this is an example of the kind of game that is perfect for wagering. You can get out early and not lose much. You can bluff and win. You engage incrementally and throughout the game.

But… it doesn’t belong on this list!!!

It's not a Euro-game...

Taj Mahal is the inspiration for this (short!) list. It has a series of 12 rounds (called “visits”). Each visit could be separately wagered on and of course, you can wager on the final outcome of the game. Within each visit, there are a series of card plays which create natural opportunities (like poker) to increase your bet on the outcome of a specific visit.

Start with an ante that goes into the game-winner pot (say, $2+ per player?). It would have to be big enough to encourage people to stay in a loosing visit, in order to position themselves to win “the big one” at the end of the game.

In each round, following a separate ante for the visit (say, a quarter), the first player must pay (at least a minimum bet) to play card(s). The second player may then “see” the first player (pay the same amount), may raise his bet by an increment (which must then be matched by the first player and all subsequent players) or may “withdraw” (drawing from the face-up cards normally) and “fold” (drop out of the betting) losing his ante.

Play would proceed around the table in this fashion until all players either withdrew (but continued to match bets) or withdrew and folded (stopped betting). Scores would be tallied for that “visit” and the winner of the visit would take the pot, unless of course the winner had folded. A variant that might work better would be to have the winner and the second place player split the pot 2/3rds to 1/3rd.

Colossal Arena is also another “natural” for wagering. The game itself is already a betting game, you bet game money on the outcome of specific bouts between mythical creatures.

How about Royal Turf? Some good old horse racing, there is even a cash-betting variant on the page somewhere. It's slated for a reprint soon too!

Probably not suitable for betting on, but poker players might like a bluffing game, and Aladdin's Dragons is a good one.

DCGP is a natural for wagering. All you would need to do is substitute your real money for the play money supplied with the game. Of course, you might have to scale down the $200k in seed money.

It'd be great. Bid on the cars, and hope your ship comes in.

King Me is a game based strongly on the bluffing and pushing-your-luck, and has a scoring mechanism that lends well to settling-up scores with money at the end of a session.

The points system is designed for wagering.
And it's an excellent game.

The best time I've had playing this one was for cash. Everyone starts with $15 and throws $5 in bank. Play by the printed rules with the exception that only the player on-turn can be involved in any deals.

Winner (of five player) walks away with $100. In college, the guys that liked poker played in these games, too.

Sorry, it's not a Euro, but it is a boardgame!

this would be a ripper. just play with real money. each player puts $100 in the bank, play til the bank is broke...

the poker rounds at the beginnig of each turn is where the trick is. :-$
