There's something thrilling about opening a new game for the first time!
You rip the shrink off, pull off the lid, hearing the "box fart" and smell that distinct smell of die-cut cardboard. There are the rules and board staring at you so wonderfully!
You punch out every chit lovingly and carefully. You bag every component and rubberband the decks. You play the game. You enjoy the game.
Then you have to put the game away and your heart MELTS!

This geeklist is for the games that do it right! I HATE it when I have to put the game up and just throw everything back in the box. I tend to be a little OCD about my game organization and my fiancee makes fun of me for my obsessions on how everything in the box has its place.

Of all the games I own, this game makes it easiest!
I mean.. come on! the counter-tray is removable, taking out 90% of the cleanup work. It's easy to see where the cube-tower pieces go and (my favorite part!) the card section has nice finger holes to make it SUPER easy to pick up and put back the cards for easy storage!

The custom made foam insert for Timber Tom is *insanely* good. Each half closes together clamshell style upon the other and the outer box case holds it all snugly. THE Gold Standard of inserts IMHO.

In the original 3M edition of Bazaar, all the cards and chips sit in the box while you play.

The German edition, Bierbörse, and the Brazilian edition, Troca, function the same way, though though they are slightly different inserts:

No photo of the deluxe version insert yet, I guess.

The deluxe version has a redesigned insert in which each of the sixteen penguins has a place of it's own and the hex tiles are stored in a large space to one side. Another perfect insert.

It's not too fancy, but it's counterpart, Race for the Galaxy, could have learned a thing or two from San Juan. RftG just gives you big open space to put all of your cards and chips in -- boo!

My version of Diamant has places for the cards and tents on each end of the insert and a well in the center to store the gems. Not many components but they all have their place in a nice insert.

The original Lord of the Rings game had a terrific box insert. Everything had its own spot in the insert and there was even room for the expansion material.

A masterpiece of engineering: the tray holds the cards in their original plastics when you first open the box, yet perfectly organizes them for continued play. They are easy to take out, fit perfectly, and include an insert to inform you of which cards are where. The insert is also blank on the reverse, so you can switch the order as you desire.

This picture doesn't really do the box justice. There is a LOT to store with this game as there are dashboards, player cards, 7 dice, cars, and a HUGE game board. Everything fits pretty nicely and the slots for the differently-geared dice are a very nice touch.

Who's the daddy? Produced specifically as a method of storing not only the pieces from this game, but also the previous 2 games in the series, this is one monster of a wargame storage tray.

Even so, it is pushed to store ALL the pieces from all 3 games - maps have to go in another box, or else the lid sits about 3 cm too high...

Jaipur has also a very nice thermoformed. The larger holes are for cardboard chips and the square one is for the cards.

Figures have pegs in their slots, so you can invert the insert if that's your thing (not to be confused with Ben Grimm ) and they'll still stay put. Below the two card slots is room for the dice, counters and the smaller cards. The die "cup" specifically fits the eight dice very nicely, same for the small card slot under the Hulk card in the picture, Story/Headline/Power-Up/Masterplan deck's hole is just the right depth, not to mention overall size.

I just got this.

And the box insert blew me away! Everything has it's place and you don't even have to punch stuff. It's all ready to go! What an awesome insert. Acutally looks a bit like the tikal insert up there.
