Have you ever purchased a game because you were enamored of a book or series of books and just had to find a way to immerse yourself even further into the worlds of the author?

I am a HUGE C.J. Cherryh fan. I found an abandoned copy of
Pride of Chanur on while on watch one evening many years ago and voraciously read everything I could get my hands on after. If I could write, I would explore the Union/Alliance universe. To that end I sought out this game (one of the legendary lost games) last year. This is the game that brought me here to the geek.
(Now if someone could/would design a game in Jack McDevitt's universe.)

Technically I bought the game first but then I started buying the novels which just fed my addiction for getting more and more miniatures, maps, scenario books... I still love this game. If only I could find players! (Mechwarrior Dark age doesn't do it for me though... part of BTechs appeal is that wonderful damage system.)

I do not own this yet but am debating an ebay purchase or constructing one of my own. I'm a big fan of Dune and think this game might help to scratch my itch to 'walk around' on Arrakis for a time.

While I did this in the oppposite order of most, AGOT the game was intriguing and compelling enough to finally wear me down and get me to read the books. I had been burned so badly by Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series that I vowed to swear off fantasy/medieval fiction for a while. Thanks goodness this game changed my mind!!

Conan! I don't have this game but would buy a game now if someone came out with it. I read EVERYTHING! All the books and as many different comics as I could find. Got this in miniatures also.

And of course.....The Lord of the Rings! I set the whole thing up using my 25mm miniatures and this rules system combined with SPI's "War of the Ring" rules as a basis. Now it's been replaced by the boardgame. If you think 3 1/2 hours is long to play the boardgame this miniatures game took 8-10 hours over 2 days!

Own it. Never played it. Never read all the books. But just love the character -- the whole atmosphere. Elric of Melnibone. I just love to say that name...

Now this game I owned. These books I read. Awesome series -- very vague memory of the game... but who cared! You were 12 -- Fahfrd and the Grey Mouser -- in a GAME!

After reading the book the book by Jostein Gaarder, which I really liked... I got suckered into buying this game. It's not bad if you only play once or twice, but it was definitely not what I was expecting.

After reading the book, I had a terrible craving to play this game, which is so obviously based upon it. So, far I've held out... Must... resist...

"The Hobbit" and its sequels.

Is there any player of this game who has not read Tolkien?

After reading this fine novel concerned with the trials and travails of 'Modern Warfare', it made ME want to PLAY the game even MORE, even though I already had this. I'd be 'wanting' to get into ANY 'Mod-War' for that matter, once I've finished the likes of a 'book' such as this ONE! Man, I can hardly WAIT for the 'Movie' to come out! oh damm, they ain't made one yet...nor are there any 'plans' for such...in the immediate future...or maybe EVER!...waaaaaaah!

When I was younger, my father always seemed to have some volume of C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower around, worn out from so many readings. Inevitably, I picked them up as well, and became enamored of the genre of literature that follows a person's career through the Napoleonic Era. And when I found Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe series, man, was I psyched! I introduced my father to them, and he loves them; it's been a bond between us. Fortunately, I discovered that there are many excellent Napoleonic games out there to live the adventures myself!
