I've noticed that more and more individuals here on the geek have what they call Grail Games. I would love to see others thoughts about if they have a grail game what is it? how long have they wanted this particular grail game? what things about this grail game make it so desirable.

I know for myself I can honestly say that a grail game is what helped lead me here to the geek. Growing up as a child my favorite game was Clue until a friend introduced me to Clue Master Detective.

I think I then asked for this game for Christmas every year from then on. However this game was out of print and the only copy I even found was a used complete copy and they wanted $100 dollars for it. I felt like that was a little steep for me to spend and I had to stop my mom from spending the $100 on me for Christmas.

Lucky for me the world of Ebay came along and I bought a gently used copy for around $50 including shipping. Getting my childhood grail game led me into looking into more and more games and I found the geek not long there after.

Since then I have traded, bought, thrifted more and more of my grail games. However my list never seems to end. There is always a game or two that I stumble upon that another geek writes about that has some sort of mechanic or theme that is orignial and almost always the game is out of print and hard to find and I think I really should add that game to my list.

I'm excited to see what others see as grail games and why maybe I will even add a few of them to my wishlist.

It would be a small miracle to find this one, but I keep my eye out for it.

City of Chaos
And this is #2 on my grail list. I really like Arabian Knights when I'm in the right mood, and this sounds like it might be something in a similiar vein, but with more game to it.

Oh, yes. AT fan. I'm tired of bidding for improvements for a crappy medieval town.

For me, it was Risk. I saw it on a TV commercial for the first time, and I was caught instantly (think about effective marketing). In a market where you can only get Monopoly and abstracts like Chinese Checkers, Risk seemed like OMG, what a cool game! I loved the plastic pieces that emulated roman numerals, the stylish map, and the cards.

However, the gameplay didn't convinced me. I wanted to like this game so bad, that I overlooked the fact that it was a big disappointment. Fortunately, that made me to look further and find the game that Risk should've been. Years later, I think I found it with Axis & Allies.

Maybe that's the reason I have a weakness for games that use a map as board - and if it's a world map, even more. Vinci, Web of Power, and TransAmerica caught me for this very reason.

Greetings.
