What I like most about GIPF is the how you can balance the game to allow players of different skill levels to face each other. The game also has a "balancing mechanism" in that when you eliminate your opponents piece(s) you also remove your own, usually giving your opponent a stronger position on the board.

DVONN is the perfect introduction to the series IMO. It's the fastest of all the games, perhaps with the exception of TZAAR, and it's also one of the most beginner friendly games in that it can be played more ad hoc than the other games (at least that is how I see it). There is just too many different ways to go in the beginning you might as well just relax and start to form your strategy mid game. (Of course this is not true for more experienced players).

The highest ranked of the GIPF games on BGG. Next to DVONN it's the perfect gateway to the series. A lot of people can relate to the basic idea of the game and have a blast playing it. It also has a strange beauty that I can't quite explain.

The masterpiece. ZÈRTZ is the best game in the series. My brain is not strong enough for competative play, but I love the beauty and simplicity of it. Just a few pieces, a shrinking board. Has kind of an "end of the world" feeling to it in a way. It is one of the most beautiful abstracts out there.

I wish there was a deluxe edition with materials other than plastic!

Unfortunally I don't have too much love to share for this game. I've never really made that magic connection. It doesn't feel very GIPF-y.

Those of you who do love it, please share!

I've never played TAMSK. It was "replaced" before I discovered the series. The time element seems alien to the series, but please share you love for this game too!

The "wargame" in the series. TZAAR is a fast and furious tactical wargame in my eyes. From turn one it is an all out battle. When I play it don't feel like I have the time to think about a grand strategy like in DVONN. Here it is just a steel cage death match.

One of my absolute favorites in the series!
