Europe Engulfed was honored as "Best World War II Boardgame" of 2003. It defeated A World at War, Ardennes '44, Monty's Gamble, and The Russian Campaign.

Designers Rick Young and Jesse Evans also pulled in the "James F. Dunnigan Award" for playability and design. They defeated Frederic Bey (Vae Victis magazine), Craig Grando (ATO), Bruce Harper (A World at War) and Joseph Miranda.
