My wife and I are both gamers. Though our tastes in games vary somewhat, we were able to agree on our favorite 25 games for 2 players. We rated each of the 25 on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest, but even 1s are still some of our favorites). For each game, we have posted our ratings, along with some comments about what we particularly like about that game.
WIFE: 2. Strategically losing rounds is interesting. Powers are fun to screw your opponent over. Even though I rated this the same as Court of the Medici, I think I might end up liking Lords of Scotland more.
ME: 2. Balance between strength/power and draw/play is very tasty.
TOTAL: 4. A very new addition to our shelf, but a good one. It will be interesting to see how it plays with more players.
WIFE: 4. Choices almost overwhelming at first, but the freedom of choosing how to win is worth it. I didn't like dueling at first, but it grew on me.
ME: 2. Dueling worker placement is genius, building your little corner of the city is fun.
TOTAL: 6. Despite the ratings difference, we have similar opinions about the game. Lots of fun elements present - playing it too often could get overwhelming or stale. However, I emphasize the fact we don't play it that often compared to other games, whereas my wife emphasizes how much we enjoy it when we do get around to playing it.
