The passage of time is represented in numerous ways in different games, but often scale is large enough that it's either irrelevant whether actions take place during the day or night, or it's assumed that the action takes place "as needed" during an given time increment.

So I'm looking for games where there is a significance to the day/night cycle -- either as a specific book keeping phase, a time when certain actions have significant impact or differences, or as a metered game "clock" to represent the passage of time.

I know many, many war games feature Day & Night aspects, so let's try to limit the list to only a handful of war games in which Day/Night has a significant impact. I'm much more interested to see other games that use Day & Night, and as you can tell by my meager start, I'm having difficulty finding many!

What other non-wargames use day and night?
What kind of impact does the time of day have on a game?

Same Grant cuts each day into segments to help phase action resolution. If I'm not mistaken, the night time segment is largely a book keeping phase, but some other events or actions could take place. It's been a loooong time since I played Sam Grant, so someone please correct me if I'm mistaken!

Sam Grant's inclusion represents war games where night is used as a book keeping or status phase to prepare for the next day's action sequences.

Day and Night is very important in Fury of Dracula, as Dracula and his minions are generally far more dangerous when encoutered during the night. Being able to hold a combat during a favorable time (day for the hunters, night for Dracula) is a very important part of the game!

Another pseudo-horror game, the day/night cycle is very important (as tracked on the big round sun/moon phase piece in the middle of the board). "The Bad Guy" gets an advantage at night (draws extra cards), and a full moon can trigger werewolves to shapeshift, while the day is relatively safe by comparison, and vampires caught outside during the day suffer damage.

The game starts in "neither night nor day" but certain event cards can change the game to Night or Day. Several characters gain special abilities if they are in play in the appropriate time of day.

I have always admired the "End of Day" card in this game, which prevents calculating when each hand will end based on the size of the remaining cards. Pushing my luck on when each day will end is a big part of the fun for me.

Well, this little roll-and-move game has a clock at least. Disneyland opens at 9:00 in the morning. As players land on special squares on the board, the clock is moved ahead one hour. The park normally closes when the clock reaches 9:00 at night. Each time the park is scheduled to close, players have the option of keeping it open another hour. They try this if they are behind and want to keep playing to try to catch up. When the clock moves again, this option is presented again.

This classic, with it's 80+ pages long manual, shows that even the most intrepid adventurer plans evey day's schedule ahead of time. Every player records their turn during birdsong, and then execute their actions in phases named according to times of the day: sunrise, daylight, sunset, evening and midnight.

The game is intended to be played in the dark. The central tower emits red light during the "day" and blue at "night". The board, pieces, and even the dice are printed in two colors so when the switch is made from day to night (via a deck of cards), nearly everything in the game changes. Harmless creatures turn into monsters, traps appear on the board, and the monsters become tougher to kill (the die values are different during the day than they are at night). Probably the most creative use of the day/night theme I have seen.
