Games to Play at the Hospital
- Jeff CorrieUnited States
This week, my little sister-in-law Natalie who I love very much was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Without going into too many details, partially because we don't have many details, I will be spending a large amount of time at the hospital with my wife, her family, and some close friends. The initial surgery is expected to take seven hours or longer, followed by at least three days in the ICU. Plus all of the treatment time to come.Recommend
My wife suggested I could bring a game or two to pass the time, and I am looking for some suggestions. Natalie just graduated from high school, and is a big fan of every game I've introduced to her, from Ticket to Ride, to Guillotine, to Agicola or Ca$h & Guns. Of course, she won't be the one in the waiting room, but even if all goes well, we'll still be spending a lot of time at the hospital.
Feel free to browse my collection for some suggestions, but I'm not above going out and picking up a few games, it seems like a worthwhile investment. I just need some ideas. Tell me why some games are a better fit than others.
What began as slightly blurry vision (that's what led to Nat getting checked out) from pressure on the brain stem has increased to extreme blurriness and she is unable to read. The surgery should relieve this pressure, and we're hoping vision will return, but nothing is guaranteed. I can't believe how fast things are moving. She's in good spirits, just tired of being stuck by needles.
