Below is my Top 10 list of games covering traveling through time. These are games that meet all of the following criteria: (1) focuses on traveling through time; (2) addresses some aspect of time travel in a unique or interesting manner (e.g., paradoxes, altering the past, etc.); (3) compelling "theme" (not too abstract); and (4) fun to play. This is a list of the BEST! As always, your mileage may vary and some entries may be "controversial." As such, please feel free to comment, debate, or just express your own point of view. Feel free to thumbsup this list (to draw attention and more comments) or any pleasing, interesting or thought provoking entries. If I missed one that you feel is essential or I am "insane for not listing" (trust me, it has been said before), then by all means let the comments fly . . . just be civil. FYI - I am a sucker for comments and discussion and usually thumbsup most if not all of them.

I find that these lists sometimes are helpful for others seeking similar games and the more rich the discussion for more useful the list.

As always, thanks for reading and participating!

1. Board Game: Chrononauts [Average Rating:6.20 Overall Rank:2581] [Average Rating:6.20 Unranked]
Board Game: Chrononauts
#1

Admittedly not the best game in the world; however, it does cover most of the bases when it comes to time travel (e.g., paradoxes, fixing/patching paradoxes, altering the past and its effects flowing into the future, etc.). Also included in this entry is Back to the Future: The Card Game, that uses the same mechanics (just re-themed to fit the movie premise).

Board Game: Khronos
#2

This is a beautiful game with great bits and colorful board. It also succeeds at introducing a novel way to simulate time travel effects. As a time travel game it is one of the best; however, overall, it is just a good game.

3. Board Game: Time Agent [Average Rating:6.69 Overall Rank:5572]
Board Game: Time Agent
#3

From Player Notes: "Time Agent is (appropriately enough) a game of timing. To win, you must position yourself to simultaneously cut off the technology Time Travel while also altering events so that your race ends the game with the most victory points."

Now, that is what a time travel game is all about, right?

4. Board Game: Time War: A Game of Time Travel and Conflict [Average Rating:5.64 Overall Rank:17841]
Board Game: Time War: A Game of Time Travel and Conflict
#4

Time travelers attempt different missions while trying to make their opponents fail. The further you go back in time, the more ripples you can affect. which will flow to the present and future. Typically (for its time) "heavy" in rules, counters and gameplay.

Board Game: TimeTripper
#5

More of a tactical wargame with a time travel theme; however, you still "battle through time" against foes of various periods.

Board Game: Doctor Who: Solitaire Story Game

This is more RPG than boardgame, but you gotta have a Doctor Who entry on a time travel list, right?

Board Game: Timestreams: Deck 1 – Stone Age vs. Future Tech
#7

More of a combo-matching card than a truely immersive time travel game; however, it does give you the "feel" of manipulating events throughout time.

8. Board Game: Time Pirates [Average Rating:5.58 Overall Rank:15858]
Board Game: Time Pirates
#8

You would expect more from acclaimed designers Alan R. Moon and Aaron Weissblum, but do not hold your breath. This games does a "fair" job of representing pirates roaming back through time to collect/steal artifacts from various epochs. When they acquire enough of one type of artifact, they can "teleport" to a market and sell these artifacts for a profit. All the while being hunted by Time Police. Sounds great; however, the game is just okay.

9. Board Game: U.S. Patent No. 1 [Average Rating:5.23 Overall Rank:20482]
Board Game: U.S. Patent No. 1
#9

The premise alone makes this a "must play" game; however, the mechanics could really benefit from using a time machine to go into the "future" copy/steal/lift/infringe something from a more recent offering (e.g,, deckbuilding, multiple use cards, variable roles . . . anything).

10. Board Game: Unpublished Prototype [Average Rating:6.87 Overall Rank:2946]
Board Game: Unpublished Prototype
#10

What can I say about this game that the reviewers in 2026 haven't already said? It is such an unique combination of deckbuilding, variable roles, area control, auction bidding, resource management, dice manipulation, and card drafting--all wrapped up in a customizable miniatures game.

[SPACE RESERVED FOR BEST TIME TRAVEL GAME FROM FUTURE THAT ACTUALLY USES TIME TRAVEL TO MAKE GAME AVAILABLE IN THE PAST, BUT UNFORTUNATELY MEETS WITH ITS FATHER GAME AND KILLS IT IN AN ACCIDENTAL EXCHANGE OF MEPPLES CREATING A PARADOX SO THAT IT NEVER WILL EXIST]
