This weekend was our huge gaming/camping weekend (Camp-a-game-a-geddon-palooza). We hit over 40 people on Saturday attendance wise, and it was an awesome weekend.

Thanks to the BGG app on my phone not recording any of my plays, this will be a place holder for me to come back and put them in as I get the void refilled.

I played DL twice this Saturday (and had like 7 play before) and though I lost both times, I still enjoy this game.
As I don't own it, some members of my gaming group were very exited when they found out that I borrowed it from friend. I even had to choose, whom I want to invite
In the first game I tried to be the nice guy to get all the weaklings and I did, but didn't win, as I couldn't get enough imps working for me. And I also had a chance to get the Title-scoring room, but other guy took it. He had almost all his dungeon ruined together with this room, but this didn't make me any happier.
And in the second game I tried to work on tons of monsters, but wasn't too lucky. And though I killed all the heroes, they ruined several tiles of my dungeon, as I could use traps because of the very skilled thief.
P.S. vampire is not that powerful for his cost

Even without the expansion, this game is one of the most played games on our table. Just love it! Though the quality of cards makes me cry, as it's pretty hard to get the sleeves where I live (Minsk, the capital of Belarus) shake

Played SE4X on Friday night. Was my second 1v1 and the first with advanced techs. My opponent outmanuevered me and got in to kill a couple of my Colonies and then I rolled incedibly poorly on a frontal assault of his core worlds and conceded.

We then played a game 7 Wonders, adding my wife to the rotation.

Saturday, I went to Great Hall games and learned two games that were new to me: Empires of the Ancient World and BasketBoss.

Empires of the Ancient World is a Wallace game. I am just now starting to become familiar with Wallace having played London and Brass previously. I do appreciate his games, but I am not a huge fan. Would definitely play Empires over London.

BasketBoss was a fun little auction game and I would definitely play it again. Might be a little long for what it was.

Saturday night was set aside for my Pathfinder RPG campaign, but we did more BSing and hanging out than any actual gaming.

Got this to the table on Sunday.

Great game - still learning some of the rules. I didn't remember if an activated group could shoot with a Fire card, and then shoot with the same group again with a a second Fire card. I was holed up with a weak team in Objective 3, and the Germans kept blasting away with their squad, leader and 2 LMG's. They turned the coverage of the building into Swiss Cheese, and took down my commander! With a dead leader, it was just a matter of time before I surrendered! Still a fun game, and I want to play again soon.

Agricola

Played this Sunday with the gf. She didn't love it as much as the first time she played. I think she was just tired, and re-learning the game wasn't her first choice. She's a good sport as I'm a little burnt out on Lost Cities and Mystery Rummy. I crushed her 32 to 20, and tried to convince her that "the next time she plays" (nice sub-conscious plug), it'll be easier. Still a fun game, but I'm anxious to play w/ the Occupation cards vs the Family Game. Hey - I'm lucky I have a gf who likes to play some games!

Friday - We played a couple of 3 player games of LOTR:LCG at my friend's house. We barely managed to win Escape from Dol Guldur in the 1st game, and got to try out the new expansion pack

It was pretty fun, I think we played the clues correctly. Those Hunters of Mordor are deadly once you get a few clues.

Saturday - We went to the opening day of the PNE (Pacific National Exhibition for you non-Vancouverites) It was a nice day to spend with family.

Sunday - We had planned on going over to my wife side of the family to play the new Expansion:

But it didn't work out... cry soon we will play it!!! Soon!

Met a local gamer on Thursday and played a few games. We split 2 games of Keltis.

Next was Famiglia a weird little set collection game based on mobsters. It has an interesting mechanic for acquiring cards, but does seem pretty heavily luck-based. Not bad and I wouldn't mind trying it again, but I don't see it becoming a favorite of mine.

We also played Lord of the Rings: The Duel which is an underrated game here. Gandalf successfully sent the Balrog to his doom in a close match.

I bought this at a borders closing sale. PLayed about 10 games of it over the weekend. Its a good game that you can get almost anyone to play.

I'm happy with it seeing as how i only paid $12. but it would have been worth the full $20.

I love this game. It just clicks with me for some reason. I haven't had a regular partner with this in awhile. I got four games of it in this weekend with my brother and its nice to have a regular partner who knows the rules.

This is a game that really shines when you have a regular partner for it. Playing the same person several times forces you to really think out strategies for the game.

I also got in a quick game of carcassonne.

sadly no Warhammer Invasion this week...

Started the weekend with a nice long game of Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game. Usually my games of BSG go with the humans losing badly before the cylons even have a chance to reveal. This game, however, went completely different. We hardly had any cylon fleet engagements, and got really lucky with picking jump cards and destination cards. We had three jumps without any engagements - it was like a walk in the park. Or as one of my friends put it "if this were the TV series, this would be the boxing episode".

After the sleeper phase - guess what - I was a cylon. Because of a nice event card (that added 2 or 3 to the jump distance), we were only one distance away from getting to the final jump. Even worse, on my turn I picked up an event card that allowed the President to look at my loyalty cards (and it passed!). She found out that I was a cylon and immediately brigg'ed me.

The humans kept doing awesome, and before the other cylon and I could do any damage, the game was already won for them (and lost for me).

After that, we played a few rounds of The Resistance, which I think always goes hand in hand with BSG. I always have a fun time with this game.

The next day, we tried to play a quick game of Glen More before Agricola, which was to be the "main event". However, the game ran a little long (first time playing it with 4P), but we still had fun. This was only the second time to play it and I think I am convinced that it is better to go for bonus points during the game rather than whiskey and chieftains at the end of the rounds. Also learned that Loch Ness is all powerful with that strategy. Will need to play this a bunch more to see if I am right or not.

It got a little late, so no Agricola this time (I had just got the gamer's deck that same day, so was excited when someone suggested it). However, we ended with a quick game of San Juan , which I got to play for the first time with both expansions.

Friday night, just stayed home with the wife. Played a game of Battle Masters where my Chaos Army trampled her. It wasn't really her fault though, she could not roll any hits for the life of her. But she got me back in a game of At the Gates of Loyang. We both had 18 points and she beat me by 7 coins.

Saturday was an all day meetup, and I started off with a best of three series with partners in Crokinole. Lost the first, won the second, and then lost the tie-breaker. Than I played a game of Runewars. This was a game I was interested in buying at one point, but had never played it. I am glad that I got to play it, but no longer want to buy it. For one, it has a lot of similarities with Twilight Imperium that my friend already has. And I already have Sid Meier's Civ for my large-scale Ameritrash gaming, which I like the best out of all of them. I would definitely play it again if the opportunity arrises.

Next up was Navegador. It was the quickest game of it I have played yet. A few people raised to Nagasaki, so scores were pretty low since few privileges were obtained. I was two points behind first at the end of it all. Then we played some quick games of U-Build Monopoly and Red Dragon Inn 1 & 3 to kill off some time before ending the night with Macao.

Sunday at my parent's, played a game of Bag-O-Loot. My dad slaughtered us, which is good, because he doesn't win too often when we play games, and we got to keep him happy so he'll keep playing.

Julius Caesar x 2- I really like this game even though we are finding it very difficult for Ceasar to win.

The rest of the games I played this weekend I played for the first time.
A Few Acres of Snow-An interesting game that I found enjoyable but I don't think it scratches the wargame itch. I would play again though. I played the French and lost.

Chaos in the Old World- Pretty cool game. I like the different powers and cards everyone has. Would definately play again even though I came in last place playing the Tzee...guy.

Dungeon Lords-A difficult game to teach but after extensive rules explanation it actually plays easier then the rules explanation. Pretty good game. I came in second being the meanest guy.

Richard III: The Wars of the Roses- I really like block games and this one is no exception. I played as York and rolled up a win as this game definately pays to be aggressive.

Quarriors!-Played a four player game of this and there were a few things a didn't like about the game. 1) the numbers in the corners of the dice are hard to read. The game seems very luck dependent and I don't know if there is really much strategy to it or if you are at the mercy of the dice. That being said I would probably give it another try as it is a quick filler game.

A la carte- Eeesh, what can I say besides this game was definately not for me.

"Epic" game of Horror! My son was leaving Sunday for a semester abroad in Italy so we wanted to get a game in. We decided on Arkham Horror. We started about 9PM friday and played till 1AM. The game seemed to be going very well, we quickly sealed a few gates and had very few monsters in the city... the terror level stayed at 1.

We picked up Saturday to finish it off. We started getting in trouble. A few of the mythos cards added extra monsters and our terror level went up to two. I kept hitting the Curiosity shop trying to get an elder sign and it just wasn't happening.

The we got a few luck breaks. A few return to Arkham cards and finally we got the last two gates sealed. I was surprised we won this one.

I do still play games once in a while. Chem final was Friday. Saturday, RnR presented me with A Few Acres of Snow and 51st State as congrats for having done well. I gave 51st State back to him for being so supportive. My brain was so fried, I could barely get through Boggle on Saturday. We also tried to catch up on housework since we had a game day to host the next day.

Sunday: No homework, no studying, only games. Oh yeah, and an emergency dog bath and emergency bathroom repair.
I missed the first two games due to those and whipping together some ginger lemonade. These were: Merchants and an interesting looking train game called Paris Connection. I jumped in to teach Canal Mania for a three player game. I must apologize for being so out of practice with teaching games. Meanwhile, RnR played Domaine and Steel Driver with 4 then 5 players. We reconfigured groups to form a 3 player game of Industrial Waste that I again ineptly taught, while RnR taught Macao, then got in two 3 players games of Race for the Galaxy (all exp), winning both times. We segued from IW to 10 Days in the Americas with 4, then 10 Days in Africa. With only 4 of us left, we decided to figure out 51st State. It took some time and lots of rules consultations, but we eventually muddled through. We played it again this morning and saw only one thing we did wrong, and understood it much better for having tried it last night. We closed the day near midnight with 2 more 3 players games of RftG.

Friday, we played quick game of Race for the Galaxy, me coming out with a moderate military/gene worlds tableau, the boyfriend with a high military deck. I had to race to the end before he could draw, play and use takeovers to destroy me. One of my worlds got conquered, but I had the points and won. Whoo!

Saturday we played a very special session of Legend of the Five Rings.

Sunday we had a gateway gamesday with, well, only one gateway gamer. We played Shear Panic (the little figurines are so cute!), Dixit (where I got to use Gotye's "and now you're just somebody that I used to know" as the description) and Space Truckers where everyone around me soared around in magnificent space ships while mine kept breaking into floating junkyards. I scored 13 points. Rawr!

On Friday I played 2 Games of Cosmic Encounter (The FF version) and learned how big of a difference it was from the Hasbro/AH version, the flare cards make a big difference. Also on Friday I played Pocket Rockets

On Saturday I played a game of Sorry Sliders
with my son and dad, it was a cute variation of Sorry, but without my 5 year old playing I don't think I'll open it up... After playing Sorry he pulled out Apples to Apples
we tried to convince him to play something else as he hasn't learned how to read yet but all he said was I can have someone else help me to read the cards, he played one round, then said he was done so the rest of the family finished while he went to watch TV.
