This list is to add games you would love to receive in the Official Thrifty Secret Santa gift exchange.

To register, mouse-over Misc in the header and select GeekExchange. Find and click "2011 Thrify Secret Santa."

The Rules - (Per the Official Thrifty Secret Santa Thread):

1. TO ENTER, Sign up here! You must be a member of The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters to participate.

2. The cutoff is Sunday, November 6th. Sign up before that date!

3. When registering, it is a good idea to offer suggestions for commonly thrifted items you desire. Of course, your wishlist will be fair game as well.

4. The games you send to your target should be USED. This means they were either thrifted (preferable) or are no longer welcome in your game collection. Thrifting is about recycling!

5. Generosity guidelines: It is not like Santa to restrict how generous someone should be. However, we also don't want any little Scrooges sending out a single copy of Uno. As a rule of thumb, try to have the value of your gift package be about $20. If that means you send 40 games bought for $.50 each at a garage sale, fine. If that means the one game you send is currently selling for that, fine. The choice is yours, but be reasonable. Ask yourself: "What would Thrifty Santa do?"

When you join, please provide the following details:

4-6 games that you are currently enjoying (and a why you like them if you like),

4-6 you have seen more than once on the thrift lists you want -
the first game you are interested in should be the Geeklist entry item
to catch people's attention,

4 things you like in games. (mechanics, themes, if you play games with kids or your family.)

This can be used to help guide people to select what they add into the box for you.

Games I'm playing now:
Liar's Dice - Because my wife really likes it right now
Yahtzee Free for All - Another game my wife will readily play
Carcassonne: Hunters and Gatherers - First euro my wife and I played, will always have a spot.
Coloretto - Been playing this online a lot lately
Memoir '44 - My oldest daughter's favorite game
Heroscape Master Set: Battle for the Underdark - Another of my daughter's favorites.
Wits & Wagers Family - A fun family game
Archaeology: The Card Game - Recent purchase, and has a lot of the same feel as Bohnanza, but it a much shorter time period.

Games I see that I'd like
Memoir '44 expansions. All we have is the base game.
Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie - The only master set we're missing (well, we've got the terrain only)
Spite & Malice - No real reason, except I think my family would enjoy it.
Survive: Escape from Atlantis! - Played it once and I think my family will enjoy it.

Things I like in games
If you can't see from above, I play games mostly with my family. Therefore the games need to be family friendly.
I have 3 daughters (ages 10, 8, 2.5) and 2 sons (ages 6, 0.5), so games that play well with kids (but won't bore me to death) are also good.
Small/easily portable games are good. I've got over 600 games already, so storage is always something to think about (but don't let that rule out awesome games that are huge).
FILLER - Due to the kids, sometimes we have only enough time to get in a filler, so I'd love to increase the games I own in this category.

Games I'm currently enjoying:
Arkham Horror
Dominion
Quoridor (Thanks again, radynski!)
Ticket to Ride (This shows up on the Thrift Finds list from time to time. If Ticket to Ride: Europe is clogging up your closet, Santa, you may add it to the list below.)

Games from Thrift Finds lists that I'd love to have:
Qwirkle
Gobblet
Blokus Trigon
Zooloretto (A long shot, but a guy can hope, right?)
Batik

It's almost embarrassing how many of the items I liked from last week's list are things I've already found. I guess I've been more successful with the thrifting thing than I've always thought.

Things I like in games:
Wooden abstracts with good production values (Gigamic)
Cooperative games.
Apparently, ridiculously complicated Fantasy Flight games (Arkham Horror, Android, Starcraft)
Card games, especially if they're easy to teach.
Word games. I have a crippling word game addiction. I have most of the usual thrift suspects, though.
I'm a sucker for anything with cool bits, even if it's completely unplayable.

Parts I want:
Anything I've posted as a WANT on the parts list
Dice. Yes, I have a problem.
Green, red, and yellow glass cats-eye marbles from Chinese Checkers sets (trying to complete a copy of Avalanche and this route seemed more likely than finding original marbles.) (Removed because an anonymous but generous thrifter is sending me marbles.)
Interesting pawns/movers, like the plastic shoppers from Mall Madness, the metal things from various Scene Its, the minis from Clue, and so on.

Dear Thrifty Santa,

I have been a very good boy this year, and I am sure that any transgressions which may have been reported to you is simply the work of the media, painting a picture of me as flip-flopping between good and bad, with vices a plenty, and avoiding the 'issues' on what it means to be good. I assure you that this could not be farther from the truth, and with your unwaivering support, hope that you bestow upon me some thrifty goodness.

With that, I answer these questions speaking on behalf of me and the significant other (who is my primary gaming partner)

4-6 games that you are currently enjoying:
Mr. Jack
Dixit
Battlestar Galactica (and expansions)
Quarriors!
Small World
Eat poop you cat!
Arkham Horror (Listing 7 games doesn't make me 'naughty,' I'm just trying to help you, Thrifty Santa)

4-6 you have seen more than once on the thrift lists you want:
I put unpublished prototype as my selection because regardless of what follows, I'm more interested in receiving a box of 'fun.' I promise to be happy with whatever I receive, and the excitement of going through stuff is what I'm looking forward to most of all! Be creative Thrifty Santa (Or, TS-Dawg, as I like to call you.) That being said, here are a few things I see others get which I would be happy to receive:

ROBORALLY!!!! surprise
Wits and Wagers Family
Indented dice arrrh
Acquire
Heroscape
Can't Stop
Blokus I found a copy for me while thrifting today!
Lord of the rings
Dune (Double )

(Remember, listing 8 games (also dice) doesn't make me 'naughty' I'm only trying to let you know that I am happy to receive anything!)

4 things you like in games. (mechanics, themes, if you play games with kids or your family.)
The world is your oyster on this one TS-Dawg. As I mentioned above, I'm happy to get ANYTHING, and this includes almost any mechanic or theme. I play with my friends, or with my significant other (who has been a good girl! Not as good as me, but I've been SO good, you can't blame her), and family. I love the most Euro-ey Euros, Trashiest Ameritrash, and Family-est Family games. (Poor spelling and improper use of suffixes doesn't mean I'm not a good boy!)

Merry Thriftmas TS-Dawg, I look forward to my box of goodies.

Hi Santa,
I think I was just as good this year as I was last year. I'll make sure we put out cookies for you and carrots for the reindeer. Thanks again for the great gifts last year. My list is pretty similar, but here is an update.

4-6 games that you are currently enjoying (and a why you like them if you like)

Heroscape-I probably play this the most. My son is just starting to get it. I'm a sucker for the plastic, the theme(s), and the Lego aspect of it.
Nexus Ops-I play this a few times a year with my old friends from high school. I think it's a step up from the area control/Risk games we played back then, and again I love the sci-fi theme.
Small World-My old friends and I started playing this last year, and it has come out the last few times we got together. I think I like it for similar reasons why I like Nexus Ops.
Puerto Rico-Oddly enough with the area control or dice from above, I think this is my favorite game. It just has a plan ahead style to it I like.
San Juan-Similar to Puerto Rico, I like the strategy of this game. This one I also like because it's easy to set up with cards, and my wife will play it.
Roll Through the Ages...-This one I usually only play solo on the iPod. I guess it's the planning and resource management I like again.

I still have a little boy in me who like the plastic figures, but I like a little game theory. My favorite part of games is the socializing, so usually medium depth games with a 1-2 hour length.

4-6 you have seen more than once on the thrift lists you want -
the first game you are interested in should be the Geeklist entry item
to catch people's attention,

Epic Duels-I would love to find one of these, but I know it's hard to find. I used to play this with my brother, and would love to give him a copy.
Heroscape-Again, this might be worth too much if you find a set with figures. But if you find loose terrain, I can always build a bigger field.
Risk Star Wars-The Clone Wars-I still like Risk, especially the new variants, but I never tried this one.
Robo Rally Express-I didn't want to try the PnP Secret Santa, where this would be better because I can't really make games that well. I have some extra dice, but not a nice printer to make this. I'd love to get a nice label sheet printed with this game.

I'm a sucker for theme, and usually when I see a sci-fi game with plastic minis, I'll thumb the great find.

4 things you like in games. (mechanics, themes, if you play games with kids or your family.)
I'm all over the board, and I hope that helps you Santa. My favorite games last about 90 minutes, and are pretty easy to teach and learn. When I play with old friends, it's more about catching up with each other, not about reading a rule book. Mostly I play with family, so the simplicity helps balance games between adults and children. If I had to pick the 4 things I like best it would be:
Low to Medium Complexity-I'm starting to play games with my son who is 5, and when I play with my old friends it's only a few times each year. In both cases, the games are usually pretty easy to teach, or remember with a quick review of the rules. Games where the basics can be learned and played in an hour or two would be best.
No Player Elimination-In either case above, we want everyone to stay at the table and have fun. On a similar note, while it's not exactly elimination, Diplomacy would not work well with either my family or friends.
Planing Ahead Strategy-Usually it's not too complex, but I like games that require some planing. It's the order markers in Heroscape, when to decline in Smallworld, or what to build first in Puerto Rico. This comes in many flavors and basically means most games qualify, but I don't usually play games that are very random.
Theme-I'm a sucker for theme, especially sci-fi, fantasy, or something that reminds you of a bad action movie starring the former governor of California. I like dice, but prefer cards or hand-management. I really like just about every theme, but have to admit the 12 year old in me still wants to play with action figures.

Thank you very much to Gregarius for organizing this Secret Santa, and thank you to everyone for their generosity.

Ra: the Dice Game
London

We mostly play 2p, but sometimes 4p with Mr. and Mrs. WriteGamer. When it's the 2 of us, we prefer non-confrontational games. I love great wooden bits, card games, and dice games. We don't play a lot of abstracts, and we don't play war games.

Wishlist:

I'm working on adding things to my wishlist to give an idea of what catches my eye. I like Ravensburger and HABA games.

The sorts of things that look fun:
Survive
A la Carte
Piece of Cake
Burn Rate
Thinkfun puzzles, especially River Crossing

I am a 54mm toy soldier fan as well as a BGG fan. Currently playing a lot of DBA, Hott, wargames of various home brew rules. We play filler games at the end of the night and they are usually kinetic, light, dexterity games: hamster rolle, Dragon Quest, Monster Mash, and whatever I find at thrifts to play and then ebay...

My wishlist has been cleaned up and is ready for a SS perusal.

My blog The Penny Whistle, is a deep insight into my hobby:

Games that I'm currently playing:

Alien Frontiers - sci fi theme, dice, choices to be made in dice placement
Lord of the Rings LCG - Tolkien theme, coop, deck-building
Heroscape - building armies, figuring out the best tactics
Ark of the Covenant - lighter tile placement

Games I'd like to get:

Survive - great theme!
Heimlich & Co - see it fairly frequently on the list, but never in the wild
Clue Scooby-Doo - I enjoy Clue and both my kids would love the Scooby-Doo theme
Netrunner - I'm a long-time ccg player, though I gravitate towards deck-building and Fantasy Flight's LCG games these days. Didn't have the money to pick this one up when it first came out.
Any Family Pastime games that I don't already own.

I like sci-fi and fantasy themes, but I also like Euros where you build engines and plan ahead (Agricola). I just tried Railways of the World (Western U.S. map) and loved it. On the lighter, more random side, I also just played King of Tokyo and loved it too. I generally don't care much for abstracts but am sometimes surprised (I like Blokus quite a bit).

Dice and bits are appreciated too as I occasionally dip into the PnP world.

Also appreciated in our household are any Gamewright or HABA games that we don't own, as well as Pokemon or Neopets or just about any ccg.

I'm an avid gamer of many things, as my ADHD & OCD prevents me from sticking to one genre.

4-6 games that you are currently enjoying
1. Hordes of the Things
2. Lord of the Rings
3. Defenders of the Realm
4. Aliens
5. The Adventurers: The Pyramid of Horus
6. The Adventurers: The Temple of Chac

4-6 you have seen more than once on the thrift lists you want
1. Risk: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Edition - I have the non-trilogy edition, but not the trilogy edition.
2. Regatta - I had this as a child and find it interesting to reacquire.
3. Can't Stop - Sure. Why not?
4. Lord of the Rings: Battlefields - I haven't really seen this one stateside, but I know it's more common overseas.

Peruse my Wishlist, as it's been updated fairly recently. I really enjoy FASA products and own all the Crimson Skies stuff. MechWarrior is always a good time!

4 things you like in games.
Fun. Direct conflict. Genre isn't too important as long as the theme is more than just pasted on.

Yes I know highly unlikely - but got your attention.

Games currently enjoying:
Qwirkle - more fun than I really expected out of an abstract - and with a no reading requirement my youngest can play
HeroQuest - An awesome dungeon stomp, kill what you see, the look on my daughter's face when she takes out the end baddie is just priceless
Epic Duels - mini's, Star Wars and very evenly balanced in my opinion
Forbidden Bridge - again easy to play for all and my kids love the screw Daddy factor
Duck Duck Bruce! - My youngest is the champ at this, I think I've won once in the past year
Lost World of the Dinosaurs. - Theme, screw Daddy, just plain fun
Small World - I really like the random race/power combos that come about and the figuring of how to score the most points
Pandemic - I really love the cooperative nature and the built in opponent mechanic is superb

My wish list:
Fireball Island
Santa would be extremely generous to gift this - but top of the list right now. Looks like it has it all for my family - theme, screw Daddy, fun factor, luck factor. Every time I walk into a thrift/yard sale I hope I'll see it but no luck so far.

Survive: Escape from Atlantis!
Still haven't found this one yet - just looks awesome.

RoboRally
Been on my want list for a while and seems to pop up somewhat frequently on the thrifts

HeroQuest: Return of the Witch Lord
Or any expansion pack to HeroQuest besides Keller's Keep

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – Battle at Sarlacc's Pit
Crappy painted mini's, not much of a game, but considering that I have a lightsaber on my windowsill, a complete Jedi costume in my closet and dream of one day having an Ewok skin rug in front of the fire with a Padme lookalike waiting ... well it's a Star Wars game I'd like.

Ticket to Ride
Any edition really - Days of Wonder games go over very well with my friends who are occasional gamers

The Powerpuff Girls: Mojo Jojo Attacks Townsville Game
My daughter's asked that I include this with its sister:
The Powerpuff Girls: Villains at Large Game
We really like Saving the World before Bedtime, it's girly enough for them and not mindless for me.
Centipede
Would be another that they would like - They enjoy the old arcade based games like PacMan and Donkey Kong and I remember this with some fondness from my own youth.

Some things I'm not looking for:
collectible card games
collectible mini games
A couple of times I've tried them hasn't really hit the like button and am wary of getting into. I'm too much of an obsessive completest, would end up on that auction site dropping too much $$ for that ONE, no TWO, no THIRTEEN, cards I must have.

Most wargames - there are a couple but most I don't have the time or space for.

I'll be updating wishlist and want in trade lists as Nov rolls closer.

Mechanics I'm interested in:
I'm a sucker for theme especially sci-fi fantasy. I really dig dinosaurs/science themed games although I am often looking for "adult" games with these themes. Been lately attracted to so called AmeriTrash games and dungeon stomp games ala the MB/GW collaborations of the past like Space Crusade and HQ.
I do also really enjoy Euros as well - Power Grid remains my most favorite game.
As I've already mentioned DoW type games really fit the bill as they seem to be light enough for an evenings play and good mechanics with wonderful themes.

All that being said I will be pleased as punch with anything.
Thanks Santa!!

Dear Thrifty Santa,

Those rumors about me wantong to eat some power defenseless roadrunner are just not true. That period is a menace to society and has harmed countless endangered specices (besides all that spending is saving jobs at ACME (and the emergency room!)). And there is just no evidence implicating me in that noodle incident. Don't believe the lies! I have been reasonably good!

On a lighter note here are some games I enjoy:

Ticket to Ride: Märklin
Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures: War at Sea
Battletech Introductory Box Set
Ogre
Renegade Legion: Leviathan

As you can see I enjoy science fiction games and train games. I enjoy games with minis (even collectable ones) and overarching themeactic ideas. Be sure to check my wishlist it is up to date. War Games, Train Games, Science Fiction are always appreciate. In fact multiple combinations of those themes is great (Sci Fi Trains, Sci Fi War, War & Train (sure haven't you seen the Ogre scenario Casey Joneski?)

Some games that I have seen that I would like would be:

Sputnik
The Market of Alturien
Any 18XX game
Giganten
Lunar Rails

My name is Kevin and I'm Board Game Thrifting Geek!

Games I am currently enjoying and playing
- Navegador - I like games where there is more than one avenue to victory. Navegador allows for multiple strategies to win.
- Acquire - I like financial games and I like Acquire in particular. I don't care for the 18XX style of games however.
- Power Grid - It's a balancing act and one that I really enjoy.
- Anhk-Morpork - I like Martin Wallace games (Automobile, Brass etc.) and this is the current one I've been playing.

Games seen on the Thrift Lists that are of interest to me.

- 3M Games - Flat boxed sports games, Win, Place & Show and Big League Baseball. Any of the Bookshelf Versions of 3M games I don't already have would be fantastic.
- Knizia - Yes, I have a lot of Knizia games, but one more wouldn't hurt...
- Ravensburger - Especially kids games like Rollercoaster Hippo and Up the River.

What I like in a game.
Games I like playing with other gamers:
- I like substance over theme, that is, a theme is great, but if the games sucks, the theme becomes meaningless.
- I like financial games, or games with a financial aspect to the game.
- I like games where there are multiple ways to win. Where strategy and tactics are more at play than luck.

Games I like playing in a more social setting include
Apples to Apples, Dixit, Times Up!, Wits and Wagers

Games I like playing with kids include
SET, Hungry Hippoes, Pick Picinic, Suprise!, Chicken Cha Cha Cha, Junior Labyrith.

My grail game is Acquire World Map. Just saying ....

Well, few changes since last year's TSS, so mostly the same games apply.

4-6 games that I am currently enjoying
1 Le Havre - optimization's fine by me, gladly play it solitaire
2 Stone Age - fun theme
3 Power Grid - right level of complexity for me
4 Hazienda - always one of my favourite games! Kramer goodness...

4-6 games I've seen thrifted that I'd want
1 Kramer's Tycoon - seems to show up on the thrift lists ever so often
2 El Grande - even decennial edition?
3 RoboRally - might be fun
4 Acquire - a classic

Type of games I might like
45-90 min. medium-heavy euros that support network building, area majority, or worker placement; economic games (especially production/industry); card-driven/block wargames (perhaps medieval or ancient themes).

Games I'm currently enjoying:

Crokinole
Alien Frontiers
Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie
Survive: Escape from Atlantis!
The Climbers
7 Wonders

Games I have seen on thrift lists that I would love:

Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie - Anything would be awesome - Figures. Terrain. Anything. I know it can fetch a penny or two on a certain auction site so I'm not holding out too much hope. But dream big right.

Quoridor - Or any of the wooden Gigamic games.

Risk 2210 A.D. - Or any specialized version of Risk I don't have.

I would also be interested in any expansion for any games I already own.

Well Santa, the Thrift Guild Generosity Box got to my house last night so a couple things are already crossed off my list. Sorry.

Bausack - Bandu or Bausack. Dexterity games rock.

Snorta! - My wife really liked this one.

-Santa, you can also check out my Want to Buy List. That is where I am putting games I see on the Thrift list that I'm interested in.

Things I like in games

Dexterity

Super cool components - I like the toy factor sometimes: Good minis, tons of dice, nice bits

Games with good expansions - I love expansions

Worker Placement

Dice - Not all the time, but sometimes I just want to chuck some dice

Dear Santa,

Let's get it all out on the table. I haven't been a good little thrifter this year -- I don't know if I've found 20 games (although I've found some good ones). Looks like I'll be hitting the serfdom pretty hard this time around. That being said, I've been thrifting for a while and have a pretty extensive collection of thrift standards. In my experience, this makes some of the elves nervous . . .

Please, Santa, reassure the elves. I'm making a list, but it's only a guideline. If you have something you think is neat, I'm sure I'll think it's neat, too. And I don't just like games, I like all sorts of stuff. Really, Santa, I'm (relatively) easy to thrift for.

Love,
Tim

P.S. I will probably update this letter periodically as time passes -- it's a disease. I'll also try to add some thriftgames to my wantlist at some point.

Games I've been enjoying this year:
--Dominant Species.
I've been playing this one a fair bit, and I was the asst. GM at WBC. Great game with tricky decisions that I think is easily worth the time.
--The Kaiser's Pirates. I love this game. Lots of history, a slightly esoteric topic, and quick cardplay once you know the system.
--Heroica: Fortaan. My 7-year-old son got this for his birthday, and we've been playing it a lot. We even mixed it with Race 3000 for an interesting variant where the heroes had cars and risked grease traps (seemed very Disney ride to me). My wife discovered the runes on the Heroica shield actually spell out "Heroica" (three times), and then my son used the alphabet key to start writing his own runic messages.
--San Juan. This is the small-group quick go-to game for one of my gaming groups. I enjoy it a lot more than Puerto Rico.
--Forbidden Island. My son loves this one.

Some things that pop up on the list that I wouldn't mind getting:
--Rail Baron,
something 18xx, or anything crayon rail that I don't own. I enjoy Empire Builder and I thought Air Baron was interesting.
--Lego Games, or anything you think would be interesting to a 7-year-old boy or a 13-year-old girl. My younger one is getting a bit too old for a lot of the Ravensburger/Haba titles.
--Wargames. I'm not a huge fan of WWII games, unless the game mechanics are interesting. Otherwise, I love wargames, even if I don't get around to playing. Often, the more obscure the subject, the better. Solitaire games are cool, too.
--Lord of the Rings. A perennial entry that I've never stumbled across (well, there was one copy water damaged into a brick at the now-defunct Salvation Army last year). My daughter likes co-op games.
--Mystery Rummy. Any version.
--Ploy. A 3M I don't have, and it's got Spock.
--RPGs. I don't play them often, but I love reading them. I've tried to keep my RPGgeek listings up to date.
--Strat-O-Matic Baseball. Any version. I've been curious to try this out and have never found a good copy.

Other ideas and information (partially looted from last year -- do you penalize for self-plagiarism, Santa?):

1) This is the main point --
everything below can be ignored. Except for a bit of Pokemon with my son, I'm not a CCGer. Otherwise, anything you think is cool, I will probably think is cool, too. When it comes to thrifted games, I'm not too stressed about condition. I prefer a minimum of mold and mildew, and I'd like the game to be playable -- if important bits are missing, I'd like them to be easy to replace or fake.

2) I like games with lots of theme and/or neat bits. I love kitsch, but I've managed to stop buying kitschy games just for the sake of kitsch -- no room in the house.

3) I mostly play games I own 2-player, with fractaloon or my children. Right now, my 7-year-old son is my most frequent opponent. fractaloon will play pretty much anything if we can find the time to play -- we've been working through his new year's resolutions and a list of games we'd like to get played lately. My daughter particularly likes mathy games (Ka-Ching!, Lost Cities, Slide 5, R-Eco, etc.) and cutesy games (UNO: Barbie, Igloo Pop). I play multiplayer games with two groups, but we seldom play games I've brought along.

4) ("I'm in pieces") Bits and Pieces: I'm a fan of P&Ps and wouldn't object to getting one, if that's Santa's thing. What else are elves good for? In addition, here are some bits and pieces that would make my day! Jewels for Dragonmaster. My copy doesn't have any, and I keep meaning to create a set. Dice for Sports Illustrated Baseball (or even the whole game). These specialized dice appeared in several AH sports games (Bowl Bound and Paydirt spring to mind). Cards and one sailboat (can't remember which right now) from the 3M longbox Regatta. Any sort of expansion material for B-17: Queen of the Skies. Paintable minis -- I've been teaching myself on HeroQuest figures. Neat dice. Wooden Monopoly houses and hotels so I can pimp my Mayfair A Few Acres of Snow. I also think I've posted at least a few "parts wanted" listings.

Edit: Other thrift-store ideas as they come to me --
--Small, nice poker chips
--Modern Library editions (yes, I tend to collect publishers/series more than authors/subjects): Any title in decent shape before 1940, any title in decent shape with a dust jacket 1940-present.
--Library of America editions: any title in decent shape, with or without a dust jacket or slip case, from this quality reprint publisher.
--I'm playing more short, 3-player games lately (at lunchtime). So anything interesting in this category would be appreciated.

Current Final Thoughts: For what it's worth and if it helps, I like things other than boardgames from the thrifts, too. What I look for mostly are games, books, cufflinks, tie tacks/bars, and cool kitchen stuff -- I'm a big fan of old Pyrex casseroles -- but in general I'm a magpie resisting the pull of shiny objects. I cook. I like food books, interesting SF/F, history, travel, the HMCO best of the year series (like Best Sportswriting, Best Short Stories, Best Mysteries, etc.).

Hope this helps -- I know it's kinda long.

Tim

Dear Santa,

I've been a very good Thrifter this year. I've learned when to leave yet another copy of Pit on the shelf, and how to remove tape with a hair dryer. I've learned to share out parts from thrifted Parts Copies, and to Thumb the awesome finds other Thrifters share with us all.

Games that I am currently enjoying:

7 Wonders - Loved this each time I've played it - can't wait to get my own copy. Games like this are *exactly* my cup of tea. (Tech trees, indirect conflict, M:tG-like resources, drafting, beautiful artwork)

Ticket to Ride - Now that I'm starting to move beyond
novice at this, I adore this series, especially Europe.
Thunderstone - I'm still a big fan of Dominion and other deckbuilding games, but I love the added flavor of a dungeon crawl in this.
The Speicherstadt - I love the auction mechanic in this, and how well it works for 2, 3, or 4 players in different, exciting ways.

Games I've seen thrifted that I'd love to receive:

Ricochet Robots
Betrayal at House on the Hill
Alhambra
Hoity Toity
Any Ticket to Ride games/accessories aside from the Base Game
Any Carcassonne set that's not part of Big Box #1 (oops, I just got the Count of Carcassonne, sorry Santa!)

These are merely wishlist examples, I'd be happy with whatever Santa brings me!

4 things you like in games (mechanics, themes, etc.)
Co-op games
Worker placement
Science Fiction theming
Auctioning
I'm definitely *not* a grognard

I've had months of scouring thrift shops with very little success this year. From March to September, I found nothing. However, since last TSS, I have picked up Can't Stop, Bausack (well, Bandu), and Funny Friends from last year's list.

4 games I am currently enjoying:
7 Wonders - I pretty much always request this whenever I am in the same building as it. I love that I thought I had it figured out after a few games, and then I realised I didn't. Every time I think I've found a winning strategy, someone disproves me.
What's My Word - A friend of ours got this for us as a Honeymoon present in July, and along with a game of Code 777 at The Cast Are Dice, I've discovered I really like deduction games!
Carcassonne - Recently been re-enjoying this with my wife, but also it was the only decent game I could get to load on my Nokia, so I played loads of solo games of it until the phone died! Currently considering an iPhone... Angry Birds? I don't think so.
Power Grid - Have played a few games of this again recently, and it's still just soooo good. Have all the maps and all the new power plants though.

(Many more than) 4 games I have seen more than once on the thrift lists, that I want:
Acquire - I have Acquire, and I love it, but I would love any non-2008 version of Acquire, and especially the 1999 version, or a nice 60s copy...
More realistically, I'd be happy with copies of
Qwirkle, which seems to crop up a lot, or
Blokus 3D, aka Rumis or
Travel Blokus or
The Ark of the Covenant or
Bazaar,
which I know have been found relatively often.
Show Manager - I think someone found this last year in Europe somewhere! Trouble is, the new version's not out in the UK yet, so where else am I gonna get this? I'm hoping the new version coming out will make it easier to find the old one. But...
Atlantic Star would be a perfectly viable alternative. I saw this 2nd hand in a store in Cologne, and I don't know why I didn't just buy it. Stupid.
Zendo - Again, I know this has been found once. I have the cards; I just need the pyramids and the stones, or something like them.
Bausack - Finally... (and also unrealistically given the weight of it) in the UK, this is almost impossible to find, but I finally thrifted a copy last week. Unfortunately, the box was falling apart, and the bits appear to have been chewed by a dog. Also, it's not Bausack, it's just plain old Bandu. What I really really want now is some beautiful red and/or black and/or just different pieces to the ones in my Bandu. But I realise this is heavy and therefore unrealistic, given where I live...

So on that note, and in case the above and everything else on my wishlist is too difficult or heavy, and since I will be one of the very few non-US participants (foolishly or otherwise), and probably the only one in the UK... if my Secret Santa would rather not spend loads on shipping, I'd be equally happy to receive damaged items from this OLGS:
http://www.gameslore.com/acatalog/Games_Board_Games_421.html;
or Sale Items from any of these:
http://www.shiregames.com/khxc/index.php?app=gbu0&ns=prodspe...;
http://www.boardgameguru.co.uk/guru-special-offers-72-c.asp;
http://www.iguk.co.uk/overstocks.aspx;
http://www.gameslore.com/acatalog/Games_Board_Games_472.html;
https://www.theworks.co.uk/Toys--Games/Strategy/.

4 things I like in games:
I like when a game produces adrenalin / dopamine in my body - El Grande, Power Grid.
I like it when my wife goes crazy for a game - Chinatown.
I like it when all of my gaming group really like a game, even I don't get it at all - see Le Havre.
I like finding two great games in one week, after six month of finding nothing - Make 'n' Break and Bandu.

I don't generally like Children's games, Customizable games, Party games, Thematic games, or really simple card games.

Also, I play a lot with these two users, so unless mentioned above or in my wishlists, I'm generally not interested in anything they've already got.

Thanks Santa!

Your First Citizen is in of course!

Lately, I've been enjoying some great games from my favorite designers...

Wings of War
Master Builder
Mexica
Sushizock I'm Gockelwok
Alien Frontiers

The games I'm truly interested in getting....

Square Mile so I can finally set up a session remotely with RideTheory/Dannysland.
Thunder Road, I love Kramer
The Sinking of the Titanic, I had this as a kid
Qwirkle Cubes

I love all sorts of games; Euros probably are the soft spot for me and I love Action Points, Kramer, and sci-fi themes. I am not into complex war-games and most party games. Crappy b-day and Spinergy are exceptions!

Thanks so much for ensuring this continues; it really warms my heart seeing how this community has grown from its humble list beginnings. Thanks for allowing me to continue to be your benevolent Leader.

This is a thrifting grail of mine. It's been turning up less on thrifting lists and the price is creeping up on ebay- hopefully I've haven't missed the window.

Games I've been enjoying:
Mansions of Madness- I've only played the keeper role, but I like the system
Cowboys:Way of the Gun- good simple shooting fun
Nuclear War- a classic
Survive- the new version is fantastic
Star Wars Minis- just getting into this

Games I've seen up on thrifting lists:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Game- a long shot
Forbidden Island- maybe too new
Undead- a cool SJ game
Web of Gold- turns up sometimes
Chaos Marauders- or any other GW coolness
Dinosaurs of the Lost World-AH classic

Things I like in games:
Player interaction
Take that/ screw you
Theme- horror, sci-fi, fantasy, adventure
Killing things/ Making stuff explode

I am a low maintenance, happy go lucky gamer. I will be happy with anything that you send. Use this list for inspiration, send anything you think I might enjoy.

Games I'm Currently Enjoying

1 - Glory to Rome - Strategic game that's playable by two and my wife will play this game.
2 - Acquire - Playing this game by email. Somewhat strategic, plus I'm at like 40% winning at four player. Check out my stats Acquire Chapter - Secret Order of the GamesByEmail Templars (I'm Andrew) My wife wants to play the 2 player broker variant but she fears that I'm too good now
3 - Mille Bornes - A fun game that my wife will play.
4 - Waterworks - Another fun game that my wife will play.
5 - Hive - 2-player game filled with strategy that my wife will play.

Thrifty Games Wishy Wish List:

1 - Dark Tower - Now before you get all "this game is super expensive why are you putting this here" on me Let me explain... I'd be more than happy with the parts from this game without the tower, or with a non functioning tower. I think the tower is the most expensive part (obviously) and the rest of the board game is not that expensive. I've been trying to code up a smart phone version as a labor of love to ensure we can play this game when all the towers fail, so this would go a long way to allow me to play/playtest.

2 - Power Grid - Maybe? It's been on the 2011 list 6 times.

3 - Gold Mine - Seems like a game up my alley.

4 - The Downfall of Pompeii - Has been seen once in 2011 Similar play to Survive! which I like.

5 - Zombies!!! - Only the Zombies, Female Zombies, Glow in the dark ones. The more zombies the better for my Mall Madness - Zombies!!! Variant Version 1.0 Rules and Label Sheet variant. Plus it may help me increase the variant to incorporate Clue: The Great Museum Caper in a more massive variant.

6 - Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie - Or any of the other sets. I really want to see what this game is all about.

7 - Enchanted Forest - Seems like a game my daughter will enjoy when she's older, and perhaps my wife too.

8 - Qwirkle - Game of the Year!

9 - Hive: The Ladybug - I have the mosquito, so only missing this piece.

10 - Blockers! - This is a very fun game, and it would make a nice addition to my collection.

11 - Ninja Versus Ninja - A game drawn by John Kovalic. So what's not to love?

Things I like in Games

1 - Games that my wife will play. If my wife play games (which she does) that means I get to play games more and more Plus it helps justify my collection.
2 - Strategy
3 - Games that play well with 2 as well as 3 or 4
4 - Games that provide Choices
5 - Games that make you make tough decisions

Other things

Any parts I'm looking for - http://parkrrrr.com/bgg/pl_users11.cgi#tyraziel
and Indented Dice - Can never have enough of those indented dice! There is no such thing as "too many dice".
Car-eeples (only game that I know that has them - Blizzard of '77 Travel Game

Dominoes (needed for a prototype)
Any other game that has 2"x2" square tiles that I can use for prototyping a game idea.

4 things you like in games. (mechanics, themes, if you play games with kids or your family.)
I like CDGs and area control (but not something like Carcassonne) and deductive reasoning (Mr. Jack, Letters from Whitechapel). I also enjoy games that have a complex decision making process and anything Martin Wallace.

Last year, Thrifty Secret Santa gave me Rail Baron, and I'd still love anything 18xx

Solo games (because the family doesn't play games) or games that accommodate up to 4-6 player which might make the table on game night would be nice as well.

In addition to the parts listed here I always interested in interesting dice

or cool bits

Recently top played games from my collection:

Magnate - Our go to couples game. We'll play Backgammon again someday. But this game makes it tough.
Innovation mostly with Innovation: Echoes of the Past - All my game playing family knows this game. We're going to have another go at the 6 player variant soon.
7 Wonders - Big with my family since it scales well, though I still like it best with 3 or 4 players.
Bohnanza - Often played at family game night with 7 Wonders.
Brass: Lancashire - My family needs to learn this game so I can get even more plays.

Friends' games that have been sticking in my mind a lot:

UR
GMT Games - Dominant Species, Combat Commander: Europe, Sekigahara: The Unification of Japan

Getting to business now, I'd be very happy finding any of these thrift finds in a box from Thrifty Santa:

Guillotine - I traded mine away knowing I'd find it again. I haven't.
ZÈRTZ - That GIPF Project stuff is out there, but I've never seen them.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Game - Okay, maybe not totally realistic. But it would be cool.
2 player games like the KOSMOS stuff would be great.
5+ player games are good too.

I don't know. Surprise me Thrifty Santa. I'm not expecting anything huge. I'm in it for the giving.
