More great games played at the SGABGNight. Our numbers are fluctuating but that is to be expected as a new group tries to get it's footing. The newness hasn't dampened the enthusiasm of the gamers. New games are getting introduced and the play is strong. It is definitely worth the trip to the Washington Branch Library!

This list will have the games played for both the 20th and 27th. Two completely different sets of gamers on these two nights. Also befitting of a new group we usually have new gamers to teach and so the total number of games played will almost certainly rise in the future.

We play games on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to about 10:00. If you are in the greater St. George area (or anywhere in Southern Utah or Northern Nevada within reach) you are invited to join us.

Our thanks to the Washington Branch library for hosting our game nights. It is a great venue with lots of room and very good light. For information on how to join us check out our meetup.com page. Here is the link: http://www.meetup.com/Saint-George-Area-Board-Game-Group/

This game has emerged as the go-to game for the SGABGNight crowd. It is not too long so we can start as soon as we have a group and still get in at least one other game if more gamers show up. The new (to 7 Wonders) player on this night was Kelsey. He was joined by Ellen, Shaea, and yours truly. The baby just watched this game. (I think Shaea plans to have her start playing at about 3 months. She's just 3 weeks now!)

The game was very competitive with only 8 points separating first from last. Kelsey wracked up an impressive 24 points with blue cards but couldn't back it up with enough other points. Shaea and Ellen used more balanced strategies and fought it out for the win. Shaea eked out a one point victory.

Scores
Kelsey 31
Shaea 39

Kelsey wanted to play an Egyptian game because...he likes Egypt. We had no shortage of Egyptian games as possibilities, Egizia, Amun-Re and this long time favorite. Kassara and Tyler joined us just as we were finishing up the rule explanations so we gave them a crash course and they joined the game as a team. The game was close. Oh, unless you consider Ellen in the results also. She used the "tired with a headache" strategy to stomp everyone else.

Kelsey 24
Shaea 29
Ellen 53 (not a typo)

Flash back a week. It is now the 20th. Aaron, Wayne and I are settling in for a little game of something. They are curious about Railroad Tycoon and I am interested in playing it. We start to set it up when I have a brainstorm. Why play Railroad Tycoom with only 3 players when we have Railways of Europe? That map will be much tighter and more interesting. So RoE it was. Wayne and Aaron are both VERY quick at learning games. I knew I better not take it easy with them. Nevertheless I got off to a very bad start which I wish I could blame on teaching but was really just the product of some bad choices. As we crossed the point of no return (or whatever you call the place on the score track where money payouts get smaller) the game tightened up and the finish was very close. Wayne got off to an early lead but Aaron steadily closed the gap. In the end the difference was the bounties that Aaron collected for being first to several cities.

Aaron 55
