roma themed. trading game with some similarity to Tribune in the action selection, and diminishing rewards for later placement. A semi-hidden end game VP scoring mechnism looks promising if not invnetive.
A remake of a classic, and a played out theme. Lets all be lords in the Dark Ages. What intrigues me again is the area control, and parallel fields of political and religious influence. As I understand it there is also the generational mechanic to consider, your appointed lords/patriarchs age and die. COOL!
from the famed agricola designer another game about "the faces and labor?" Farming is not the only industry employed in this economic game. His other work has been very good, that this may be worth a try as well.
I like the VP track for "The Gates of Loyang" Apply the increasing cost of actions from that to the action selection phase of this economic game (not a new concept) and you have a tense nail biter decision making game about the catching and selling of Fish.
Tired theme. Let's build a castle. You manipulate tiles and the direction they are facing determines resource allotment each turn. So you don't lose anything but may get too much of something useless. This makes it less cutthroat than other games and may appeal more to the fairer-minded living with me.
