This list is inspired by one of my own games, which is currently in that "sending a query and crossing my fingers" stage.

This is a list of games in which players have the option to forgo a turn or action to which they are entitled, and by doing so, they receive some kind of explicit benefit.

This is not a list of games in which passing simply allows you to game the system. For example, passing during the building phase of Power Grid might be advantageous as it would help you secure an ideal place in the Turn Order; that doesn't fit this criteria. Whereas a game where passing first explicitly makes you the start player for the next round would fit.

I'm also ruling out game actions like the Prospector in Puerto Rico that just give you money; that's not actually passing.

Feel free to add!

Passing for one of your two actions requires the expenditure of a card. As there is a hand limit of nine cards, this is a way to remove an unwanted card. (It might be a better idea to use that card to combine your actions into two, building wherever you like, but that also requires the expenditure of cash, which can be tight.)

Standing in for the series as a whole. Stock rounds end when all players pass consecutively, and the player who passes first in that sequence of consecutive passing gets Priority Deal for the next stock round.

This one's slightly iffy, but this stands as a good case for how gray this list's gray area is.

With Tactitian, you are effectively "passing" on your buy, as you must discard all cards in your hand-- unless you want to buy a copper or curse for 0 coins, or you played a number of +coin cards before playing Tactitian. But, on your next turn, you get to draw 5 cards, in addition to the 5 in your hand. And you get an extra action and buy on that next turn. (Unless you Throne Room it, in which case you'll end up with 15 cards in hand.)

I have only played it twice, but I believe passing first will allow you to have first choice on the next turn.

The "haul ore" opotion is basically a pass. It is usually used when you have no money for the other basic turn options and do not want to build rails or buildings.

First player to pass during the master builder assignment gets a denier. But, there is also a disadvantage to this, in that other players get to move the Provost after that player has a chance to do so.

Passing on the current lake puts you at the lead of the line for the next lake. Indeed, you may decide to pass on the current lake (or two in a row) just to get a prime spot on another lake which may give you position on yet another lake.

Same as with regular Caylus you get to take a gold if you pass first whereas no one else does.

In Up Front, most nationalities must pass their turn in order to discard cards from their hand.

In all versions of this game, you have to pass your turn to discard cards--often a very important part of the game!

Somewhat similar to Caylus: passing gets you two coins, plus one more every time it would have been your turn for the rest of the round.
