As many of my fellow BGG'ers know, I am blessed to have a wife and partner Nicky who plays board games with me, despite being not such a hardcore gamer herself!

Previous geeklists have been focused on games we enjoy and more recently games for time poor couples with infant(s).

Now, having played several more games together from the latter geeklist and having discussed at length recently after a game of En Garde while our three week old son was asleep, we have landed on the six games most likely to go on holiday with us, i.e. the six we would most likely play.

A couple of important points, [1] the list needs to be read as a whole, i.e. some games on the list influence others being there and [2] Nicky has been clear on her criteria for great games:

* Simple to learn, time to master
* Play quickly, especially with small children about
* Theme not important, (although it is for me!)

I am pleased that there is a lot of consistency between this list and previous lists although there are new entries, and some formerly at the top are now out.

Look forward to feedback from all, GM

The consistent performer that makes it in once again. It was the original game we played together whilst courting, but I don't think this alone explains its continued dominance of these lists.

Seems to not be popular with partners who like more complex games, but this one is definitely in for us.

Another consistent peformer that cannot seem to be shaken out of the top of these lists. Theme-rich, great expansions, although we have not played this for a while, we smashed it on our honeymoon, probably more so even than Lost Cities, a solid game that can be enjoyed repeatedly, somewhat luck dependant but still some strategic work involved.

This one came on the scene post my time poor couples list and has been a real hit with us, we have played it a lot on holidays with both of us winning games, i.e. not one dominating the other. Different to Jambo, which it is often compared to, less random, but also has less theme than Jambo too, which I see as a negative (Nic doesn't care!)

This is another consistent performer, theme is indeed a little thin, but makes for a fun game playing in relatively short time, has made it to a few geeklists I have seen lately, one that should be in all collections.

Another one that has come to us via my time poor couples list, we love this one, albeit this is more a puzzle game rather than a pure strategy game per se. This is the only puzzle game in the six, and we would not include another puzzle game, i.e. this is it! - I seem to win this more late at night, whereas Nic seems to win more in day time matches, ironic given she is more of a night owl than I am!!

The surprise package for me in this list, a new purchase of a game I have discovered via my iPhone where it has been played hundreds of times. We played our first game this week, and Nic has promoted it into the suitcase without hesitation! Yes Nic does like fencing and used to do it, but she assures me that theme has nothing to do with it, she likes the speed of the game and the fact that even the basic game has a lot of depth to it, which she feels will only be gotten to grips with in time.

This one has displaced a few other strong last candidates, notably Mr Jack, Bohnanza, just to name a few...

Why a seventh item you ask?

This is the one I am trying to get in there, thus far unsuccessfully, although I play regularly with mates. One of the great two player games of all time, although not it seems with my wife so far!!

Truly a magic game, everyone should own it.

This one got played after getting added to my 'time poor couples' geeklist, and it didn't disappoint - review to follow soon. My wife and I have decided this would almost certainly make the top 6 and pound-for-pound, I have only one game better namely The Battle for Hill 218, but my wife isn't keen on this one - congratulations Mr Worthington, my wife even said this could be...wait for it...BETTER THAN LOST CITIES - Travis take a bow!

EDIT - Nicole has confirmed this one would replace En Garde in the list - Travis Worthington v Reiner Knizia - Travis...wins....

And now another contender, we have played several games, and this one is a serious challenger for the suitcase also. We a trying to work out how much of this is the novelty of this being new, still under consideration!
