Just added a new Secret Santa Poll . Head over to [geekurl=http://boardgamegeek.com/article/7924278#7924278]Week 2 Secret Santa Poll[/geekurl] to see how everyone is faring thus far in this year's event. And of course, add your votes!

ALRIGHT! It is time once again for the annual Secret Santa List, this time the 2011 Edition. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

In years past this list has been heavily monitored as the gifting season approaches and I am sure the same will hold true this year.

Last year there were 1,437 unique entries spread over 58 pages. I'm curious to see how huge it grows this year. As a tip - if you go looking through the previous years' lists, please be mindful of which year you are actually posting your gift to. There have been multiple occasions of people posting a gift from the current year on the previous year's list. That would likely diminish the chances of your Secret Santa getting around to seeing it...

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

does a superb job using the data from this list to create his great statistical look at the hottest gifts of the season. This year's version of his list is located at:

Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2011

Last year: Most Popular Secret Santa Games of 2010

Want some for your stocking? Simon also runs a Secret Santa Sweepstakes which is located at:

This year: 2011 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

Last year: 2010 Secret Santa Sweepstakes

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

oooooh yes!

santa came early this year, and i have a gift before thanksgiving.

along with a series of great taunting geekmails.

Dear Lonnie,
This is an automatic email generated by Santa HQ. Your application for a 'secret santa' gift has been received and is in the process of being evaluated. Quite frankly, we at Santa HQ are not impressed by your application or this whole 'board game geek' 'secret santa' thing. We have billions of children to deal with and then a bunch of 'board game geeks' come along and expect to join the fun? Well, lets just make something clear right now - this aint fun and we don't have any particular care for 'board game geeks'. They bore us. We, and billions of children, are quite content with playing classics like Monopoly and UNO. Why do you think you're better than them? Oh, so you like 'Battlelore'. Oh for the love of all that is good - Battlelore? - how old are you? 10!? Did we fight wars for this? Don't you realise we can buy Monopoly in bulk and save some dollars? How many copies of Battlelore get sold in a decade? 25?! Anyway, as you can probably imagine, this aint no walk in the park for us so you better start praying, because believe me, at this moment in time dear Lonnie, things are not looking good for you!
Don't call us, we'll call you. You understand?

Fondest Regards,
Santa HQ.

Hi Lonnie,

I work currently work as Santa's under-secretary. Your file has been passed to me and was marked as 'DIFFICULT'. This doesn't bode well. I have already argued passionately against your dismissal but at this point I still can't confirm that anything will be reaching you this year. Its not looking good. I don't want you to panic but between you and me it really may be time to start praying.

Please make sure your wishlist is up to date within the next 8 hours, just in the very, very unlikely event that I find some spare gifts to dispatch.

Fondest Regards,

Whoa! That was quick!

I saw a message on bgg today, when i was at work. (Yes, i know.... don´t do private surfing at worktime. It´s not appropriate for our economical situation... ninja Nevertheless,....)

Santa said, that there is a package on its way to me by now! That´s superfast, i thought and wished that i could pinch my fingers on it already tomorrow...

But,when i came home, i had a note from the postman, that i can fetch the package at my package-station. TODAY!
Null problemo. Grabbed the car key and got it!

Thanks Santa for this big package!

First artefact found was this:

Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game

But there was encore more!

Discworld: Ankh-Morpork

You are a very generous person!
Both games reside on my wishlist for a long time!

Thanks a lot and may the clouds forgo you the next year!

I was stepping out the door yesterday, and found a Lego brand shipping box on my door step.

After confirming that it was mine, and not my roommate's, or the guy from 6 blocks away's package (I hate you sometimes, Canada Post), I was a touch confused. While ordering a box full of Lego isn't exactly out of character for me, I don't remember doing such.

I was expecting a few other deliveries, so I thought it was just one of those (like some prop components I ordered).

I opened the box... And found a bunch of brown paper. But! Underneath this brown paper, were two familiar boxes.

For a moment, I was a bit confused. I didn't remember ordering them, nor would I have, since Carc was listed on my Santa Wishlist. That very moment, the four neurons that apparently occupy my skull fired. Mid November Santa brought me two of the Carc expansions I was looking for. Scooter was a happy Scooter.

I think I was just confused by how quick my Santa had sent it. We had only just gotten our pairings. Plus, it was the first time I had left my house in days, so I was undoubtedly confused by the outside world. Seriously, it was about 5 minutes of confusion, followed by excitement.

Thanks Santa.

Santa Santa! Thank you, I've been looking forward to playing this game for over a year - It has languished in my online shopping cart many times, but I've never managed to pull the trigger due to its high price tag. This is great!

I'll be playing it with my naked mole-rat Hans, while he will be playing as a mammal, he has strong insect sympathies. I'm trying to organize our first game on Saturday!

A very happy Christmas gamer!

Santa was speedy! There was a box on the doorstep yesterday that I looked at quizzically. I really didn't expect it this soon. Alas She Who Controls The Gifts figured it out before I could act, peeked inside, and with an evil grin said "I know what you're getting". Then She Who Taunts whisked it away. I'll not know the contents until Christmas. I'll report back when I open it (and for those who provide the stats I'll create a new one so you don't have to flag this one)

PS - She Who Taunts is also She Who Bakes so its not all bad

Edit (December 26):

I had a great Santa for 2011. Finally Christmas day arrived and I got to see what was under the tree for me. Not one - but two of my "Must Have Games" were sent by my Santa.

Quarriors!

and

Race for the Galaxy

I've already played several games of Quarriors! My son loves the dice (I do too).

I'm also really excited about trying Race.

Thanks Santa! and thanks BGG for running Secret Santa again this year.

So my Santa, who has been keeping me informed regarding the potential elf strike and labor disputes, let me know that the FedEx subcontractor was due to make a delivery at my house today.

I arrived home from work to see the FedEx truck stopped on the other side of the street, right in front of my house, with the engine running. I went inside, looked out the front door, checked on the back porch, and found... nothing. Luckily, the truck was still out there. I began to make my lunch, and a minute or two later I heard the truck drive away. I checked again. Nothing. Back porch... nothing. How cruel these elf drivers can be, taunting me like a BGG Secret Santa... though perhaps that was part of the plan. Anyway, I finished making lunch, and I look out the front window to see the same FedEx truck pull up, but from the direction it had just gone. As I carried my lunch into the dining room, I heard a distinct *THUD* from the front porch, and moments later the truck drove away.

I left my sandwich and went to the door, and found a largish box from Coolstuff. (Santa did say that my gifts, plural, were on the way...) Eagerly tearing the box open, since I was the only person home (so nobody was there to prevent me from opening it until Christmas!) I found a box full of packing peanuts. Digging down, I came upon the Stronghold Games release of Survive: Escape From Atlantis. Cool! With it was a small piece of paper from CSI, congratulating me on having a Secret Santa that chose to order form them (exact wording was likely different), and giving me a code to redeem for a $5.00 credit from them on my next order. Digging a little deeper revealed one more treasure: Lancaster. Awesome! I'm sure I'll have a ton of fun with these!

Thanks to Santa and the hardworking and much appreciated (though amazingly taunting) elves!

Dear Santa of Great Power and Unparalleled....awesome!

Thanks for your "expansive" bounty, it was well WELL received!
My wife was giving me a suspicious look on the way, convinced I had made an unapproved game purchase (FORBIDDEN in such financial times as these!). I plead innocence all the ride home, not really sure what to think. I thought of the BGG Secret Santa, but surely this was not the case... perhaps a late-arriving wedding gift? (Just got married last month, after all).

I started to see things more clearly upon handling the box:
"From: Board & Bits"

OOOHHHH REALLLLLLY!?

Well, I still wasn't really sure it was a secret santa deal, seeing as I'd received packages from them before, so I opened it up straight away. What do I find?!...peanuts.

Lots of peanuts.

I swiped them away with no care for the floor or it's recently-swept-clean status! Then a face emerged. Whose face? Well, as you were probably expecting, the cartooned face of THE Don Corleone of course! He was less than pleased to see me, though it was not mutual. He was the face of the organization, the Famiglia!

He was facing off with Ticket to Ride: USA 1910, a lovely expansion I'd been hoping to get for a while. Great!

But wait, just underneath THAT was another lovely little game I've obsessed over: Tichu! I love spades, so I imagine this will feed the addiction.

then came a random piece of cardboard. Huh, well, that's cool, I'm plenty happy already. But WAIT! The box still had some room, and lo, I found a killer expansion! Pandemic: On the Brink!

Holy cow, Christmas came WAY early and was WAY wonderful! Thanks!

The second present I unwrapped was Thunderstone: Doomgate Legion I was happy because I wanted an expansion to Thunderstone. The last present was Thunderstone: Wrath of the Elements Now I was really happy because I now have two expansions to Thunderstone. Thank you so much to my very active Secret Santa for all the nice messages about the package he was sending. Well I came home today from Friday afternoon basketball and there was something sitting on my porch

What do we have here?

I love packing peanuts!!!!! What do we have in here my pretty
?

I love presents even MORE

My middle daughter just got home from college and was dying to know what the presents were. So was I, but I was trying to remember what my Secret Santa had wrote in his messages to me:

Dear Mike

as you might know, the real Santa is coming from Europe and his elves are very busy packing all the nice presents.

Unfortunately, there is no way I can have one of them come over to Nebraska to help you paint some of you nice Wrath of Ashardalon or Last Night on Earth figures.

But Santa has read on the geek you have nice and playfull daughters. Maybe a litte extra present from Santa can persude them to help you paint your own figures?

Let's see what I can do...

Santa

PS: Expect a shipment in 3 to 9 business days....
PPS: And don't open before Christmas

Ho Ho Ho

From my supreme detective skills I think my Secret Santa may be from the home of Oktoberfest, the Black Forest, the Rhine, St. Nicklaus, Garmisch, and the beautiful city of my birth; Augsburg, Germany. Here was another Santa note I received:

Dear Mike

Rudi is on his way. He is currently in Lubbok, Tx and thinks he will be at your place on the 18th.

As there seems to be no snow in Omaha at the moment, he will be driving a van with a logo that shows Guy Fawkes watching Willie Mays catch a ball while an armoured assault vehicle rolls past
http://xkcd.com/960/

Frohe Weihnachten wünscht
Der Weihnachtsmann

How cool is THAT, a Secret Santa that has a great sense of humor and sends TWO very nicely wrapped presents! Secret Santa, you do realize that the suspense is killing me and my poor daughtersoblue Even though I am a middle aged man I have a little boy inside of me that is just BEGGING me to rip open those presents and see what they are. I am almost to the Breaking Point already and they have only been here for a few hours. I will try to honor your wishes and wait till Christmas Eve to open them but you have to realize it's not just about ME. I have to consider all the readers on BGG who are also dying to know what is in those 2 presents. I may have to sacrifice my own morals and self worth and do what is BEST for the whole BGG communityshake

I will wait to hear from you about opening the presents early in case you change your mind.

Dear Secret Santa,

Thank you so much for the gifts, nice messages, and overall good spirit. You have certainly made this a fun Secret Santa exchange and hopefully I can do the same for the person I am assigned to. I hope that you and your family have a very Happy Holiday season and a Merry Christmas.

Mike

I just got another message from my Secret Santa giving me permission to let my youngest daughter open one of the presents. Does that mean the BIG box or the smaller box? Certainly it must mean the BIGGER box Here was the message:

[i]Hi Mike

This is Santa again. I see you ha[COLOR=#CC0000]ve been a good boy and have not opened your presents yet. This is what Santa likes...

I have told Rudi off for bringing the presents so early. It must be sooo tempting to open them

Good to see that he has at least packed your daughters' present separately.

I don't think it fair to let children wait. What do you think? Let the little one decide if she wants to open it early.

Makes your wait a little harder, doesn't it?

Santa

PS: You've guessed right. I am indeed from Germany but I have left for England 3 years ago. My family and I live now an hour north of London in Milton Keynes.

Ok, my daughter said the small present must be for them. Once I told her Secret Santa said she could open it, she tore into it before I could get the camera ready. She was all smiles and said "Dad this is cool it's a zoo building game called Frank's Zoo". What a nice little card game. We have not played it yet but it looks fun. Thanks Santa that was very thoughtful to send an extra game for the girls. This looks like it will be a fun one on Family Game Night. Thanks Santa, from me and my daughters. Don't know how long I can hold out on opening the big present. It is a medium sized box and has some weight to it. I have already shaken it and listened to the contents moving around more times than you can imagine. I am such a big kidshake

I came home from work on the 17th, and a box was waiting for me. I didn't have any packages coming, so I knew that my (super fast) secret santa package had arrived. So I said to myself, "How long do I wait to open this? Santa didn't appear to leave any instructions to say if I could." I left it until today. Santa sent me mail today saying I could open it now, or wait. So I'm at work wondering what is in the box. I got home and ripped it open. Stronghold. I don't know if my Secret Santa really knew how much I've been drooling over this game since I heard of it...

Thank you so much,Secret Santa! You're totally awesome! I'm really excited to get this on the table! This one will get a lot of plays!

I really don't know how long I would have held out if there were instructions to wait.. I had encouragement from my wife and kids to open it immediately...

Thanks again, Santa!

Just had a phonecall from The Wife. Box delivered to the doorstep.

I'm awaiting a delivery of a board game which I will be forwarding on to my own BGGSS target, so I asked her to check the contents of the box...

And the box does not contain the game I had ordered!

"You will be very pleased! You are going to have a Great Christmas!" she said.

I'm hoping to negotiate, and change that to having a Great Thanksgiving... problem is, she tends to win those sorts of negotiations.

*sigh*

11/19 Update:
Wife (and Daughter) approved the opening of the box.

Thank you, thank you, Secret Santa for China, one of the games at the top of my wishlist!

Along with that, there was also the Small World: Tales and Legends expansion as an additional present.

This is going to be a great Thanksgiv--, er, Christmas this year!

I've had both 'strong silent santas' and 'taunting santas' and this year mine was a taunter and an official Hannukah Harry to boot. Let's get rolling, shall we:

11/15
Quote:
Shalom, Davido, from Hanukkah Harry,
I hope that your year has been warm and merry.

I trust that you’ve strived for peace and for unity,
And hope you’ve been kind to your gaming community.

Another year down, so I’m at it again,
Finding a game, you’ll soon rate a ten.

It should be quite easy, as your Wishlist is long,
And with so many great titles, I just can’t go wrong.

With over a month until the first candle’s lit,
We have some time to have fun, you’ll admit.

I’d like to know if you’re up for a game,
Where I give you clues, and you guess your gift’s name.

Some clues will be hard, some clues will be easy,
And some, I admit, will be stupidly cheesy.

I know opening a present can feel really great,
So you won’t hurt my feelings if you’d rather just wait.

Let me know in your profile if you'd like to play,
Or write "No Thanks, Harry!", and I'll just go away.

Again, it’s your choice, and either way, I approve.
So with that, Davido, I’ll end with: Kol Tuv!

W00t! a taunter and a Hannukah Harry! Let the games begin:

Quote:
Oh goody, oh joy! Davido will play,
I was hoping you’d say that, I really must say.

But what clue to start with? Which way will I go?
I’ll start with an easy one, it’s listed below:

Hug Thy Evil Bead

Thy Evil Bead you should Hug, yes you heard me right,
Answer in your profile either today or tonight.

Should take but a minute, to figure this out,
You’ve already done it by now, I’d don’t doubt.

So I’ll bid you farewell, for now, my new friend,
If you get this one quick, a new clue I will send.

Long story short, I putzed this one big time (Hint-all clues referred to games on my wishlist) so HH prodded me along:

Quote:
So you're stumped by clue one? That's really a shame,
Maybe it's too vague... maybe I'm to blame!

A clue for your clue,
That's what I'll do for you!

I'll point you to the place that will help you the most,
Look to the avatar of the Dice Tower host!

This will help you with your clue, I think,
If not, then it's clear that at clues: I stink!

, and with some prodding by a local gaming bud, it became more obvious-an Anagram. I then looked for wishlist games w/ 14 letters, omitting non-capitalized word, and uncommon ones such as "B" and "V". Thus the first game was:

Hive: The Ladybug

Well, that would have made an outstanding gift, but apparently HH was just getting warmed up:

11-116-2011

Quote:
Good Morning, Davido! And how do you do?
I’m guessing you’re here to see your next clue?

Well step right up sir, I’ve got just what you need,
I promise no mention of "Thy Evil Bead".

I see you’re a Sox fan, well guess what? Me too!
You’ll need that Sox knowledge to get your next clue.

Below are some players, some famous, some not,
Take a look at them all; there’s a clue you should spot.

This clue will be hard once your start, that is true,
But you’ll see it’s quite easy once you get through.

In case you have some rare puzzle disorder,
I’ll give a small hint: Please mind the order.

Kevin Youkilis
Ted Williams
Carl Crawford
Nomar Garciaparra
Josh Beckett
Roger Clemens
Ellis Kinder
Mike Fornieles
Charley Berry
Darren Lewis
Jed Lowrie
Rocco Baldelli
Johnny Damon
Tony Perez
Jeff Frye
Bobby Doerr
Mark Bellhorn
Pumpsie Green

Before I forget, I have one thing more:
By Friday the package will be at your door!

- Secret Hanukkah Harry

Well in hindsight, I really overthought this one-Jewish, positions, batting order, old, new, Sox lifers, traded, etc. but HH made me face-palm with the hint:

Quote:
t appears, yet again, my clue just won't do,
But fear not, dear friend, here's another for you.

The following words should help with your quest,
If you follow this lead, you'll soon get the rest:

Michael Jordan - 23

Will this be enough? I really can't say,
Let me know by tomorrow if I've led you astray.

Ah doh! [facepalm] uni numbers. Irony is that 23 for the BoSox was worn by one of my fave players: Luis Tiant (it's the basis of my username on a red sox fan message board site). I knew about half of these, but:

http://www.redsoxdiehard.com/players/unifnums.html

helped me piece together:

Time's Up! Title Recall!

Excellent, a party game to play w/ family and friends. We'll be going to the snow over the holidays and this will be PERFECT after a day on the slopes and in front of a warm fire

Dayenu, it would have been enough. But no, HH had one last goody in store:

11-17-2011
Quote:
Well played, good sir. Well played, I must say,
Time's Up! Title Recall! is the game you'll soon play.

You're two for two at this gift-guessing game,
But there's still one more item for you to name.

We'll end with one that you'll easily guess,
Since my rhyming talents are becoming a mess.

Below are some games with one common bond,
Discover the secret, then simply respond.

Dominion
Nexus Ops
Up Front
Operation
Race for the Galaxy
Go
Railroad Tycoon
El Grande
Dominant Species
No Retreat!
Utopia
Die Macher
Lost Cities
Runewars
Oasis
War of the Ring
Le Havre
Loopin’ Louie
Agricola
Memoir ‘44
Steam

Again, I overthought this one-games I own, games I rate a 10, games in the top 100, area majority games, games you draw a card. Nope, simpler than that:

Quote:
You'll want to kick yourself for not getting this one,
But you really shouldn't, since we're just having fun!

I think the best way to help with this clue,
Is to give you instructions to help with your view.

Reverse the order of the games that I've listed,
Then step back and look (you'll see I'm quite twisted).

Remember the lesson you learned from the first two:
Don't over-think it! Sincerely, the snow Jew.

ah yes, that pops out at me now. See the main list entry.

Hannukah Harry enclosed a personalized note w/ the gifts, so I got to thank him Geek to Geek and I have a new Geekbuddy! As much as its about the giving, I love the 'making connections' and new Geekbuddies part too.

So Hannukah Harry, thank you and may the oil in your lamps never run dry.

I received this from my Secret Santa yesterday and Oh what a gift!

It was nicely gift wrapped, so I had second thoughts about opening it early. But, then I made the mistake of opening the envelope inside, thinking it might be a Secret Santa greeting or something, but instead it was the packing slip......Woops! Might as well open it now!

I have been DYING to get this game, for a long time.

Thanks so much to my Santa, I plan on going straight home from work today and learning it with my son. Lots of good times ahead with this game, I predict.

Sorry for being a little slow in posting and update, I was out of town for the Holiday.

I finally go to open my gift from my SS and it was Battlestations!. Which is awesome! This suggests that my SS had his best SS stalker cap on and finger on the pulse of my bgg threads. After I posted my wishlist I had a conversation that led to someone recommending I pick up a copy of this. Fortunately my SS has just taken care of this for me.

thanks a lot for the gifts and for the gm chat aboout Brazil and futbol.

****************Old Post************
Hooray! I have a great BGG Santa this year. (S)he began by with a couple gentle geekmails then through down the gauntlet, I only had to look at the enclosed card with my box to be arriving soon via FedEx to get a close as to the real country of origin. It arrived today.
In the spirit of Christmas, I asked my wife open the box and hunt for the card on my behalf. She fished it out while indicating quizzically that there was more than one thing in there (I had noticed the box weighed in at a mighty 6 lbs according to FedEx).
The card indicated my Santa's country of origin by indicating that the local santa was Papai Noel. I thought for a bit and had a vague idea but it wasn't until I asked my friend Google that it all came together. Papai Noel plays very well with the fact that my Santa likes to use lines of these two trains in his geekmails:
greentrainyellowtrain
I'm super happy about this, I think this is the first time I've really gotten to interact my my Santa. It's inspired me that although I've geekmailed and ordered for my targets, I should go back with some lovely taunts and maybe some teaser gifts.
Thank you SS

Note: I haven't personally peered into the box yet, I'm trying to keep in the spirit of Christmas and not wrench wrapping form gift and immediately punch all pieces, set up and play.

11/27/2011 - ah, the family has left from Thanksgiving and I decided to go ahead and fish out the contents of my box, not unwrapping my wrapped gift mind you, no that is on my games shelf still in its lovely blue paper. I am happy to announce the unwrapped findings in my box!

5 packs of Ultra Pro Card Sleeves - awesome! I didn't have any sleeves before this and I must admit some of my cards are looking sad. I'm going to go sleeve my Alien Frontier cards immediately.

Munchkin Waiting For Santa - This is a very cool surprise, not on my list but I'm psyched to get these bad boys out. To make matters better, my group will be playing Munchkin for the first time. This was planned before I opened the box so this is sweet synergy.

Zombie in my Pocket - This is very cool. I've played with the print and play version as well as the computer version. I liked the PnP better than PC but the low, low quality of my inkjet printed components was a turn off. I'm happy to have this super fancy version now.

Thanks so much SS. My wrapped gift is on my shelf and I assure you my wife will harass me to no end if I try to open it too early without expressed consent from you.

UPDATE: My santa was kind enough to send along another gift. Based on the precedent set by the previous box (Wrapped gift to keep for Christmas, unwrapped to drool over and be silly about) I went ahead and opened the box. Inside was Sultan. I had not heard of Sultan before so I immediately game to BGG to get more info. It's apprently an oft overlooked game that involves some luck, strategy and blind bidding. It looks like a more involved version of For Sale. For Sale has been a wonderful game for me so I'm super excited to get this to the table. Plus, I still have my lovely wrapped gift for a few weeks from now!

Not to over editorialize but I really questioned doing SS this year but my wife suggested I do it. I ended up doing both BGG and Dice Tower and I'm really glad I did. Both Santa's have made it an experience to remember for me and raised the bar from what I will accept from myself next year, when I will most certainly be participating.

I have say that Santa really knew what I wanted this year! I recently participated in a 24hr gaming marathon to benefit the Turner Syndrome Society at a local game store. While I was there I entered the Ascension tournament. I had never played the game before, but I have enjoyed other deck building games, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Since then I play it every chance I get even tried it on VASSAL. Let's just say that when all was said done I ended up liking it so much I was going to buy it if I didn't get it for Xmas.

While I was at work my wife notified me that there was a big package waiting for me and she wanted to open it before I got home. I persuaded her to wait.

When I got home to open the box the first thing I pulled out was none other than Ascension! AWESOME!

Then I noticed there was little something else in the box. After digging through the peanuts I pulled out Pitch Car!

I have had my eye on Pitch Car for several years now! It's been on my wishlist for a very long time! Something about the game seems very intriguing and I can't wait to play it!

Santa you're the BEST!

PS There was a nasty note from the game store stating that the paypal account used was not verified and the shipping address was unconfirmed. They said it needed to be fixed if you wanted to use paypal in the future.

PSS. I didn't know Santa used paypal! I also didn't know Santa had bad credit! These are hard times I guess for some, but I just figured Santa would be exempt.

yes, my gift has arrived, but silly me I mentioned to my wife that it was on its way. Even being in Guam her reach is long and my children were instructed to intercept the gift and by the time I got home it was wrapped and safety tucked away. One of these days I will learn. Anyway many thanks santa, the long wait till christmas begins.

As I got home from work tonight, I walked in the front door and saw a package sitting there on the table. I couldn't help but get a big smile on my face - my Secret Santa gift had arrived! Opening the box if found these two packages:

Luckily, the note my SS left inside said I should at least save one of them until Christmas. Yay!! I can open one (guilt free) tonight! Being the big kid I am, I choose the larger one of course. I opened it and found:

Woohooo!! Kingsburg has been on my 'wish list' since I joined the BGG community a year ago. I'm super excited to finally get this to the table and play it with the wife this weekend.

To my Secret Santa, whoever you are, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I really appreciate these gifts. I can't guarantee that I will be successful, but I will try to not open the other package until Christmas.

Yesterday, I received a nice email from Santa, giving me permission to open my gift if I wished. I thanked him and wished him a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.

This evening I received a 2nd email from Santa. He mentioned that the package had been delivered on Wednesday and wanted to know if I received it.

I had been out of town and my family hadn't mentioned it. I immediately went to the front porch -- nothing. I then went to our side porch and there was the package.

I brought it in and debated for a few moments about whether to open it. But since Santa said it was ok, who I am to disagree?

I opened it and found King of Tokyo.

But there was another small item as well. I had also received Innovation.

Wow. What generosity. I'm looking forward to playing King of Tokyo with the kids and Innovation with my wife.

Thanks again Santa and a very Merry Christmas to you.

When I got home today my wife told me that a couple of packages had arrived for me. I smiled as I had received a message from Santa earlier letting me know that things were on the way. I went to the table to behold two Amazon boxes smiling back at me. I opened them both to behold two nicely wrapped gifts with a note letting me know it was from my BGG Secret Santa.

My wife asked me if I was going to wait until Christmas, and I laughed and said, "of course not." I'm glad to see I am not the only one on here that cannot wait.

I tore into the first one to see the delicious Dominion, a game I have been craving for some time. The second box contained Abandon Ship, which looks like a lot of laughs and fun for the whole family.

Thank you Secret Santa, you have very good taste in games it appears.
