BGG.Con 2011 -- Vanuatu Session Report Contest
- Burster of Bubbles, Destroyer of Dreams.(Morganza)United States
CaliforniaYes, I know a proper 18XX tile should have a tile number.
Vanuatu's designer, Alain Epron of Krok Nik Douil editions, at least two people will have expedited-delivery copies of this game with them at BGG.con
I'm one of those lucky people. What can I do to pay back this action? Well, I've never played Vanuatu (though I've been looking forward to it), but I've heard really good things about it, and I'd like to hear more of what people think, both good and bad.
So, a contest. I've got 30 GG (plus whatever tips this Geeklist gets) to give to session reports for games played at BGG.con
Added: By request, I'm throwing this open to session reports for games played elsewhere, though they will have to be a bit more extensive coming from people who have access to their own computers and time. Full reviews of the game will also qualify. However, the primary goal is still to encourage people to share their experiences playing the game at BGG.con
They don't have to be long full session reports -- a simple tally of who played and whether they liked it is sufficient. I'll award GG in a completely arbitrary fashion based on what entertains me, enlightens me, or appears to be useful to other people. Thumbs will factor into my decisions. (I will, of course, make allowances for people for whom English is not their first language, and will use Google Translate to post translations, if possible, of anything not in English.) 1 bonus GG to the first clever haiku posted. :-) 1 bonus GG to the most useful negative opinion.
While the one session of this I watched (for a few minutes) featured players swearing at each other, please don't include foul language unless you are eloquent enough that it really enhances the tone. :-)
Please, one GL entry per game played -- though comments from the perspective of other players in the same game will be particularly welcome. You're welcome to post text here or pointers to forum threads or other Geeklist entries.
If you've never posted a session report, some basic things that might be of interest:
Who played, and their experience levels (names optional)
How long the game lasted
What people liked
What people didn't like
What was important in gameplay
Whether you used the characters
How often people lost actions
All of this is optional. I'm well aware that people at BGG.con are busy playing games and don't have much access to computers, for one thing. I'll put a logsheet in my copy, and try to put some in other copies, to collect data that way.
Even just a bare entry of "I played on Morganza's copy with 3 strangers" will earn some GG.
BGG.con runs Nov. 16-20; I'll close this contest a week later.
Please keep this GL uncluttered -- feel free to comment on BGG.Con 2011 -- Vanuatu Session Report Contest
