I have quite a few gamer friends, but mostly i see a few of them rather often, usually only 2 of us to play so we can't play any games that need more people. So we play alot of 2 player games, wich gets boring against the same person. mostly bc games seem to have a few different strategies that sertain people stick to. I am looking for games that will still be fun, and unpredictable against the same person over and over. I don't mean chaotic, random results, i do want a very strategic game but one that can varry a great deal. I currently haven't added anything to the list mostly bc i can't find any games that fit this description.

Simple game but lots of different approaches for each side to take. Plenty of strategy and bluff. Great game.

This is a very good two player game. It's a bit long but there are lots of interesting choices to make and different strategies to try. Be sure to pick up the expansion pack as well. It adds 5 different decks that you can use to change the feel of the game. Adds a lot of replay value to the game so you can play it over and over without playing the same way twice.

This is great for 2-players. Fortify your kingdoms while defeating your opponents. Very conflict-oriented and wargame-like (but not a wargame). The game is balanced so that it is possible to overtake players in the lead.

The random tile selections make the games different each time. Lots of replayability here.

There is a reason why it is #2. In my opinion, it is #1.

I also play a lot of games with against a single opponent, so I can offer a couple of recommendations.

For a lighter game, try Jambo... It is full of difficult decisions, the randomness of the deck keeps every game different, and (finally) it was specifically designed as a 2-player game. While there is a "screw-your-opponent" element, the fact that the game doesn't depict a life and death struggle keeps it (fairly) friendly. Also, the artwork and production values are excellent! I would like to give Mr. Dorn a medal for designing this one!

For a heavier game, try Java...

Though there is absolutely no luck in this Kiesling and Kramer offering, I find that the game varies tremendously from play to play. Even if one has a particular style (aggressive/defensive, etc.), they have to respond to an ever-changing board that grows both two-dimensionally and three-dimensionally. Also, it is necessary to balance tile-laying, temple building, and moving one's figures onto/around the board with a perniciously small budget of action points (APs). I have definitely continued to enjoy this game!

As a warning though, this game is a brain-burner and has the potential to bog down... While I certainly don't find this to be a problem (most of our games last ~60-80 minutes), I can imagine this happening.

Fast, Simple and you can play over and over again. Great cause you can switch up airplanes, which will change different playing styles.

This is a cool game that I have yet to have a non-interesting game against my girlfriend (We've had it for a little over a month now). Combines concentration (but not as heavy as people might say) and good bluffing elements with barriers and multiple victory pathways. Plus if you like the Dracula theme that's a bonus.

This is probably my favorite 2 player abstract. you use card to move your row of pawns and try to make them match the color sequence of the cubes in the center. random set up and draw of the cards makes for a different feel every time.
