I wish I would have posted this earlier but it didn't occur to me, so I'm doing it now. Every year the Salvation Army in conjunction with the JC Penny sponsor the Angel Tree program. You adopt an angel and give a new gift. These are children who without these donations...will not receive a gift for Christmas. I always like to give something and this year is no different. If you have adopted an angel this year I'd love to hear about your experience with it, even if you didn't give a game so add an entry to this list.

If you haven't donated but would like to just visit www.jcp.com/angel for details. The program wraps up on December 9th...which is why I say I wish I had posted this earlier. I would encourage everyone to give this a shot as I find it rewarding on Christmas day to think about the children I've been able to give presents to.

I was pretty upset about the possibility of us not being able to adopt an angel this year. You see I've been unemployed for 8 months now and finances are...well...pretty bad. I just have zero in expendable funds for even our own Christmas but that's not important to me Christmas is a day for us and we will have a wonderful one being together. For me I love doing the angel tree and when I was walking around it I found one...a boy. 11 years old and on his tag he said he wanted "games".

Now over the years when things were more fiscally sound I bought up games and when I found good deals bought games in multiples. Most of those are gone now but a few still linger. I have in this time of strife for that I've been going through lately been blessed here and there with the ability to get a new game and it not costing me money and I felt the time was right for me to give back. Both in my deep desire to be a part of the angle tree program again and to the fact that there he was a game wanting little boy, who needs a Christmas.

I looked at what I had to offer. None of these are great games I know but it's what I had to offer. The tag says to just get one thing so I got down the games that I had that were still in shrink and I knew instantly Pow-Wow would be going. I've played this with younger children and it goes over very well. In addition he will be receiving:

Blokus 3D, the Rumis edition...I like this one a lot as well and think it will be a hit as well.

The Ten Commandments, it's not much of a game but I think an 11 year old might get more of a kick out of it than I will. I do own the Bill or Rights version as well but it's opened already and well...they are suppose to be "new" gifts.

Tongiaki: Journey into the Unknown, it's listed as for ages 10+ so who knows if this will be enjoyed or not. I had 2 copies still in shrink and figured if nothing else it'll be another package to wrap and put under the tree.
