Sometimes it makes me feel some of the games are just too bulky when I travel to the gathering location. Some games can be played even without a game board!

Bringing all the tiles only, the game can still be played.

I was thinking of developing a card version of Puerto Rico, the only component I need is some coins as citizens. All the other stuff can be put on cards. In this way, I am not afraid of losing any components of the game.

Someone posted a card version of this game a while ago, it can be played even without the board. In fact, the 16 deal cards make up the board.

Lost Cities is the most obvious (to me) game that belongs in the category of 'Games that can play fine without a game board'. Not only can you play it just fine without the board, you can play it just fine without the game! A regular deck of cards and a single suite from a second deck and off you go.

One of my gaming groups used to play all the time in the restaurant. You don't need a board at all and everything can be fit in the red bag provided.
