Over the years the Military (all over the world) designed games to train its members. Which and how many are known to the public?

Not designed specifically FOR the military, but the Military was using it in advance of Gulf War I due to the lack of a decent gaming model for the Middle Eastern theater of war. I remember seeing this on the news.

I've heard that this was origionaly designed as a training tool for the US Army. That might explain why the Soviet forces ALWAYS got slaughtered unless they had lots of smoke.

Here is 'one' that had the MILITARY in mind for its 'conception'. I wonder if ANY of the 'current' COMMANDERS ever got the 'chance' to explore THIS, prior to 'shipping out', when they commenced the recent 'incursions'?

Here's the original, invented by the Prussian general staff in the 19th Century. It and H. G. Wells' Little Wars are grandfathers of all modern wargames.

While not exactly designed FOR the military, Larry Bond was a serving naval officer when he designed Harpoon, which was meant to be a playable version of the official traning wargame used by the Navy. The comemrcial game has been used for training purposes, I understand.

This one was designed by someone (no one seems to know who) at Westinghouse, obviously for use by military logistics officers and planners, or people planning to sell to the military. Extremely hard to find.

Gregory Alegi and me designedthis game for the Italian Air Force, that published it on its magazine. Not for training but for propaganda.
