Shire Gamers this week is going to be Thursday 14th July. We thought it would be rather amusing to have games that are in some way related to France. We want more lighter games and not wargames. Can you help us in adding to the list of related games. I have got the ball rolling below. It's also my first geeklist so bear with me as I may not get it just right first time.

An obvious choice especially as I bought it only two weeks ago from Shire Games. My brother has not lost at this game yet but it's fun till I get to the end and realise after thinking it had been close that he had in fact whipped the floor with me. So travelling round Paris and even Bastille is on the board. Can't get more French than that.

Guillotine - Nothing reminds us of France more than the chopping off of many people's heads. Dukes, Priests, Nobles - All their heads come of in this little game.

Escape from Elba - one of two Cheapass numbers I can think of that should be in this list. Featuring Napoleon trying to escape from the island he was exiled to. Napoleon - definitely very French.

Unexploded Cow aiding Anglo-French relations as we decide to send the Mad Cows over to France into the fields containing unexploded bombs from the various wars. As you may have noticed I do enjoy the little cheapass games from James Ernest. They are cheap and cheerful and in this case slightly French

Not lighter, but obvious for the theme. Not just themed on France, but themed on the French Revolution. Royalists, moderates, and radicals. Win on victory points or by bloody revolution.

Clear choice for Bastille Day.

Obviously French theme, but pre-revolution. Still, a decent game and should be fun at your party.

Wasn't the "necklace affair" of Marie Antointte one of the reasons for her impopularity.

And it's a great game also. :-)

How about this one? After all Carcassonne is in France, a beautiful walled town somewhere in the south.
