Played this with my buddies, Duane and Steve on Friday. Played it with my son, Alexander, on Saturday morning. I haven't won yet, but I've had a great time so far.

We put two copies together and had a six player race. I spent much of the first half of the race in last place, where I learned quickly that going first in this game is a bad, bad thing. Eventually, I got lucky and zoomed into first place on one turn. I ended up winning, but I don't feel like I did anything particularly clever. There are rules regarding gaps, pit stops, flags, etc... but it's all rather fiddly and busy for a game that basically boils down to a crapshoot. Definitely not the end-all, be-all of racing games. I'll reserve that distinction for Breaking Away, followed closely by Formel Fun/Devil Take the Hindmost.

Turn-based 6 Nimmt. 6 Nimmt is a brilliant game, but I'll give this one high marks as well. There's a nice bit of gamble to it -- you don't want to play the fourth card in a valuable stack if you think your opponent can win it on the next turn. The x2/+5 cards help to turn the angst up a notch. An excellent sequel.

The first half of each round is similar to Carcassonne (which I never thought was anything special). Unfortunately, we were not able to play ALOT of tiles during that first round. If you're not able to play a tile, they just get placed to the side until they CAN get placed. You might be able to place them later, but once the non-placed tiles started stacking up it becomes VERY tedious to look through at each one every turn. Very inelegant and clunky. The second half of each round is even less interesting. There's a stunning plainness to it that surprises me.

I've owned this one for ages and had not gotten a chance to play it until this past weekend.

(I actually forgot to include this on either recent list of unplayed games)

Like the Stock Car Championship Racing Card Game, there was alot of luck and randomness to it. Unlike SCCRCG, it was lots of fun and provided tons of laughs. The *games* themselves are pretty chaotic, but there is a tactical element in drafting and trading -- *and* choosing who to play against. I went into the Championship Series against Duane and lost 0-4.

One of my regular customers is a big fan of this game, so he brought in his figures and a big felt cloth and showed me how to play. Our game was timed at exactly 50 minutes. Lots of numbers and symbols and glass tokens and spinning dials and rulers and ....zzzzzzzzzzz. I was praying for death by minute number five and considered having all of my characters commit mass suicide. I did end up winning, however, and am now retiring from the game undefeated. I am the ruler of CLOTHVILLE.
