Something that I have noticed with my group of 3-4 is that two of us (myself included) rarely do well at games that require direct harm to another player. I want to win, but I don't necessarily want to stop others from winning (makes sense to me, at least). So, this list is for games with light rules and light (or no) direct confrontation. In other words, games that are simple to learn but do not require the screwage of other players. Please help me and other players who are just too nice for their own good. Oh, if someone could include comments on Through the Desert according to above criteria, I'll give you a cookie. I know that there are other groups out there like mine, so this is a community service project. Yep.

IMO, this matches my criteria because someone who is a mean, stubborn trader will receive the same treatment. In my group, we trade nicely. Actually, we give donations almost too freely! Also fits easy to learn criteria for most people.

This one is also arguable, but it seems that most of the time we are trying to get what is best for ourselves without helping others too much. Only occasionally will someone take something they don't want just to hurt another player. And this is so easy to learn that I actually taught my grandmother (she didn't fully get the strategy, but she did well and understood the game).

I have only played this with two. But for us, it always feels like we are involved with most plays (which I like), but we are usually trying to do well for ourselves much more than we are trying to hurt others. And the rules just make sense once you play the game.

very light rules, light confrontation
you simply do not have enough train cars to screw up other players, unless you don't care to complete your tickets and merely live for cutting off others' routes. plays similarly well for 2 to 5 players.

not-so-light-but-light-enough rules, light confrontation.
you need not screw up others to win. even if others try to screw you up, you can still enjoy to build your precious city of San Juan. plays nicely with 2 to 4 players in different ways.

I tend not to like tile-laying games as much as others because I don't like the "screwing factor" that many of them have.

However, I was pleasantly surpised with TransAmerica. The tiles (or tracks) you lay down can't hurt other players -- they can only help them. In fact, one of the main strategies in this game is to get your opponents to help you more than you help them.

pretty light tile laying game. plays well for 2-6 players.
I, however, do not funcy this game because of "player no-interaction." all you can do is basically to be very observant of other players tiles. so, here you go!! no attacking of other players to win. enjoy expanding your palace of Alhambra!!

A puzzle like coop game, good in the right group which it sounds like yours is.

This is billed as cooperative chess which doesn't really make sense but if you ignore that, it's another fun puzzle like game. The setup is random so it's a different puzzle each time. Planning of moves is required to solve the puzzle.

Great game where the interaction in somewhat indirect as you are trading with the board not other players. Carefully trading and resouce mangeagement (in this case the resources include time/movement in addition to items) is needed to win.
