This list for GRAB members who would like to publicize their accomplishments and to keep us updated as they attempt to fulfill their personal gaming goals of 2011. This list is open to any member of GRAB, past or present.

Among last years' goals we had several members attempt to play their entire collections, all of the SdJ Winners, play certain games, or play unplayed games.

Have fun in the New Year!

For my goal I would like to play every Age of Steam expansion Map I own.

I have not played my copy of:
Age of Steam Expansion: Germany & France
Age of Steam Expansion: Moon and Berlin Wall
Age of Steam Expansion: Montréal Métro
Age of Steam Expansion: The Zombie Apocalypse

I was able to play Moon at MittenCon. I finished last of four players.
I played Montréal Métro at Dan's place with Andy and Dan.
I taught and played France with Mary and Andy.

In the end I failed, maybe it is time trade AoS.

My goal for 2012 is to play the four deuces:

2 games of Die Macher
2 games of Twilight Struggle
2 games of War Of The Ring
and
2 games of Paths Of Glory.

I didn't meet all of the above in 2011, but then again, it wasn't my goal. I think it should be achievable. (As an aside, I am no longer keeping Feelings Journals and going back to directly logging plays electronically in 2012.)

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

PROGRESS METER: + + + + + + - - (6/8)

09JAN: WOTR. (L) Frodo, Sam, and Gollum were halfway up Mount Doom when they fell to the corruption of the ring. Shadow VP on 8.

25FEB: Twilight Struggle. (W) +20 VP for USSR on Turn 5. Nearly lost Europe twice but won via Space Race points and Domination of the Middle East.

21APR: Paths Of Glory. (W) Auto-victory -10 VP for Allies on Turn 9. French and British victories on the Western Front were the key factor in eliminating most of the Germans. Russian forces captured some German forts for enough additional VPs.

29APR: Paths Of Glory. (L) Game ended via Armistace on Turn 18 with Allied victory (VP=1). Epic game that saw every possible rarity occur, including Russian Capitulation and US Entry. Very high casualties in every nation left just a handful a scrub corps to mop up VPs in a chess duel that did not end well for the Central Powers. Intense finish.

26AUG: WOTR. (L) Lost as the Shadow, even though I had 10 VP on the final turn. This is because military victory is checked at the end of the turn. The Fellowship (sans Gandalf) were two steps away from The Crack Of Doom and had the dice to move twice, and enough heroes to absorb a good amount of corruption. Corruption ended at 11, one away from a Shadow victory, when they dunked the One Ring. Boromir and Gimli were the only remaining heroes in the Fellowship. Couldn't have been a closer game. Everything hinged on the final two chit pulls.

07OCT: Twilight Struggle. (W) +20 VP for the USA on the first turn of Mid-War. Minor victories in Europe (twice) and the Mid-East (once) set me up to win a big scoring victory in South America with some help from the Puppet Governments.

(edit) FINAL STATUS: ***** FAILED!!! *****
Tried a couple of times to get the Die Macher games scheduled, but it fell through. Apparently didn't try hard enough! I did get in an extra game of PoG, so I can't complain.

My goal is to play each Martin Wallace game I own in 2012. This could prove difficult as there are still a couple of his games that I have not played. Particularly difficult might be Gettysburg and Waterloo...so those two I may not count.

A second goal would be to play each Fragor game I own in 2012. I got off to a good start on January 2 by playing one.

Martin Wallace:

London: Jan 8 (Last place in three player game; lost by 5)
Discworld: Ankh-Morpork: Jan 14 (Won in 3 player game by controlling 5 regions)
...und tschüss!: March 29 (Came in 3rd out of 6 - game was not exactly what I would call a hit...)
Tinners' Trail: April 28 (Won in a four player game with 103 points)
Automobile: May 26 (Came in third in a five player game with $3870 - too much overproduction. Everyone else was new and most people viewed the game as interesting but not that dynamic.)

Fragors:

Snow Tails: Jan 2 (First place in a course designed by my nephew Caleb).
Poseidon's Kingdom: March 11 (First place in a four player game).

I decided to go with a more general goal this year. My gaming resolution for this year is to play at least one game a week. Maybe an easy goal for some, but ever since the little girl was born I've had difficulty finding time/feeling motivated to play games.

I will probably make a new geeklist to track my progress so there are not constant edits to this item.

Week 1 (Jan.1-7) - Blockers!
Week 2 (Jan.8-14) - Animal Upon Animal

edit: See One Game a Week - a New Year's Resolution for further updates.
