As my first geeklist I thought I'd actually go through those games I've played a great many times.

Okys This was an easy one to pick. I don't play it as often as I once did, but I'm pretty close to reaching 1000 games played. For a while in the mid-late 80s I was playing a scenario a day often with weekends full of ASL gaming. these days, I'd be lucky to get one FTF game a year and maybe three VASL games. I can't bring myself to sell the game, as I still enjoy it when I do get to play.

This is the one game that managed to come close to rivalling ASL for me in terms of time spent on my gaming schedule. I've played this well over 200 times now, it's one of two games I used to introduce newbie players to consims. I prefer it to any of the other Area-Impulse games as it has an elegant simplicity of design. All it really needs now is a VASSAL module and I'd be able to play it virtual F2F. I might even win a game.

Beer and pretzels? Damn straight. I always seem to return to this game when I don't want to tax my brain too much. Like some movies, it's all about the experience rather than deconstructing the historicity or the plot. Nearing the double century in games played I'd hazard, and unlikely to stop there either.

While it never really matched War at Sea in playing numbers it still broke the century mark. I'm looking forward to playing it via VASSAL against more opponents.

The game that ruled my undergraduate years. Every weekend during my undergraduate studies, my housemates and I would set up and play Civ. I still have a soft spot for it and am lucky to have two copies of it the Western Expansion Map and the expanded trade deck. If i could get a group together again to play it regularly without being wussy co-operative players I'd be playing it regularly again.

Some of the best scenarios in terms of pacing, interest and interactivity, as well as probably the best introductory scenario for basic ASL urban warfare tactics learning around in Guryev's HQ. Even if I had no other ASL scenarios, I could happily play any of these and consider all the money on ASL well spent. Easily played these scenarios over 100 times in total. Guryev's HQ probably around 50% of the total.
