Characters are built with a variety of components:
* Abilities define a hero's potential and basic training, with a range of values that can be used to portray film-noir drama, heroic-pulp action, and even super-heroic epics.
* Specialties define a hero’s focused training and study, while masteries indicate even deeper concentration of a specialty.
* Schticks are used by some characters to perform almost-supernatural feats, from the use of futuristic gadgets and magical spells to the rare knowledge of exotic martial arts and hypnotic control.
