Golden Sky Stories, know as Yuuyake Koyake ("Sunset") in Japan, is a heartwarming game from Ryo Kamiya, the designer of Maid RPG. In it the players take on the roles of henge, animals with the power to take on human form and just a little bit of magic. The game takes place in a small town in rural Japan, and the henge help out ordinary people (and occasional animals, local gods, and other henge) with ordinary problems.
Japanese line consist of base game and three supplements.
Mononoke Koyake introduce new class of characters - mononoke. Five types of mononoke are Michinoke, Oni, Kappa, Visitors and Ghosts.
Hitotsuna Komichi introduce new class of characters - elder henge. Three types of elder henge are snakes, spiders, and centipedes. Book also features guidelines for combining powers of different characters to create new ones.
Kore Kara no Michi is third and final supplement for Yuuyake Koyake. It contains rules for playing regular humans with no special powers.
English version of base game is already available and translation of Mononoke Koyake is almost finished. There are also two new settings in works named Faerie Skies and Fantasy Friends. Viral, author of Engine Heart created mash-up setting for Golden Sky Stories named Engine Sky. Kyle Simons, author of Magicians: Language Learning RPG is currently working on setting named Household Gods.
This game is diceless, non-violent, and heartwarming. The rules primarily concentrate on how characters create connections to other characters.
