From publisher blurb:

What is S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R.?

S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. is a tabletop roleplaying game that uses a combination of dice and interactive storytelling to create an immersive world.

In S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R., you embody two characters - the Player, a modern-day gladiator seeking fame or freedom, and their Avatar, a denizen of the Splinter. The Avatar is unaware that it is connected to its Player in any way, and has its own goals, factions, and identity. This creates a unique roleplaying opportunity unlike any other game.

S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. utilizes a revolutionary game mechanic that directly rewards good roleplaying. Characters in S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. gain power by garnering viewers through amazing feats of daring or via interesting discoveries. Characters who use Color Commentary, a gritty action-movie soliloquy, can get direct and immediate rewards to their intended actions.

The infinite megadungeon-cum-arena of the Splinter has no rhyme nor reason - characters exploring the Splinter are just as likely to come upon a Medieval sword, a fantastical clockwork raygun, or a fully automatic shotgun. The Splinter itself is a puzzle, constantly shifting, sometimes before the characters' very eyes. S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. comes with dozens of tables to help in generating the labyrinthine dungeon of the Splinter and the treasure that lies within.

S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. can be used to create full-length campaigns, exploring either the strange world of the Splinter or the dystopian Earth; it is also perfect for quicker formats, like fast gladiatorial matches between player characters or against NPCs. The S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. rulebook includes guidelines for several different modes of play.

What do you need to play?

S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. uses two original, separate but complimentary d6 systems. The only things you need are the S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. core rulebook, some pencils, and a good amount of six-sided dice. S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. includes optional rules for using game mats and miniatures, but these things are not necessary.

Does S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. use a GM or storyteller to run a game session?

The S.P.L.I.N.T.E.R. system, like many traditional RPGs, requires a Game Master, or Referee, to run campaign sessions. The game works best with one person acting as the Referee and three to six friends as Players.
