User summary
100Leben (100Lives) is a German generic fantasy RPG system using mainly a d100 for task resolution.
Character creation is partially randomized. Attributes have a basic value that is modified by dice rolls depending upon the selected character race. Skills are also based on the character's race, though the player may select some additional skills during character creation. The randomly generated values can be modified by using creation points which can be gained by choosing disadvantages. Creation points may also be used to buy certain advantages. A character's health is tracked by a pool of life points.
Playable races in the main rules are elves, fairies, gnomes, half-elves, halflings, humans, orcs, and dwarves. There are no character classes, but "Ways of Life", which give a more broadly definition than classes. Ways may be based on racial heritage or occupation (magic, combat, nature, knowledge). A player can buy steps/levels in a way of life, gaining special skills and talents when he does so.
Combat is started by an initiative roll, determining the sequence of action. Characters have action points that they may spend on attacks or defensive actions. An attack is rolled on a d100. To score a hit, the player must have a result lower than his weapon skill but higher than the enemy's armor rating. The enemy may also replace his armor rating with a parry roll. Damage is subtracted from a character's life points.
100Leben has an open magic system without predetermined spells. There are several schools of magic that have a basic difficulty and several modifiers depending on the desired effects a magic user wants to achieve. Casting a spell also costs mana points.
